The Mighty Mage -
Chapter 198: Lady Ling
Chapter 198: Chapter 198: Lady Ling
I also heard Elder Wu say that if you agree they would open the 3rd and 4th branches.
From the 4th month, a lockdown was initiated. All the citizens were asked to stay in their houses and a strict checking system was introduced.
Elder Wu also said something along the lines that the parasite’s existence has been announced to the general public.
In the past two months, more than 1000 parasites have been killed and the lockdown will continue for the next 2 more months.
The alchemy shop’s business wasn’t affected. In fact, it has improved."
So many changes?
Gu Jin was surprised.
From her alchemy shop to announcements about the parasite’s existence. Each piece of news was more explosive than the other.
She felt like a child who attended school every day, but nothing particular happened, but the day she took a holiday, a celebrity visited the school!
"Oh right, master your photo has gone viral many people are inquiring about you."
"What? What photo?"
"As far as I know some random girl was taking a photo of herself and by chance, you were captured too. She posted it online and after 3 months, the post went viral."
Gu Jin blinked,
"You know a lot."
"Master, I was quite bored, so I used the time to monitor the activities in your house."
"How far can you sense?" Gu Jin asked with bright eyes. A plan was forming in her mind.
However, before she could shape those thoughts, the space poured cold water on her,
"Just your house."
Gu Jin: "..."
Unlike Gu Jin’s 6 month long epiphany, Elder Wu only had epiphany for 6 days. It was a rather short period, but Elder Wu was happy with his progress.
The first thing he did after waking up was to thank Gu Jin,
"Thank you little Jin. Because of you, I was able to experience something so magical."
Elder Wu couldn’t explain how excited and thankful he was.
Not wanting to hear those words, Gu Jin changed the subject,
"Did you gain any special ability?"
"Hm. My casting speed has increased." Though the speed might not be as fast as Gu Jin’s, he was sure he could cast faster than his colleagues!
"Oh right! Jin’er if you don’t mind...Can I share your thoughts with the other two elders? I promise other than those two no one else will know these words..."
Gu Jin shook her head,
"You can share it with anyone you want. In fact, it would be much more appropriate if other people could hear my words and had an epiphany."
"Ah?" Elder Wu was dumbfounded.
Epiphany was a treasure-like thing.
If any mage was lucky enough to have one, Elder Wu was sure that they would try to hide as much as possible.
"Why would you want to share your insights so freely? Epiphanies are incredibly rare and valuable. Most mages would keep such knowledge hidden to gain an advantage."
Elder Wu explained. He thought that maybe due to Gu Jin’s young age, she was making a mistake.
"If you are doing this because you want to contribute to the country there are many other ways to do so." Elder Wu advised.
Gu Jin shook her head,
"If more people experience an epiphany, it will create a ripple effect, making it harder for those searching for me to pinpoint my location.
The energy fluctuations from multiple epiphanies will confuse them and scatter their focus."
Elder Wu was impressed. Truly geniuses thought processes are different.
"You’re planning to use the chaos to your advantage. That’s quite clever, Gu Jin."
Gu Jin smiled.
"I need to stay one step ahead of them. By sharing my insights, I not only help others grow stronger but also ensure my own safety.
Plus, if others can benefit from what I’ve learned, it will make our world a better place."
Anyway from Elder Wu’s case, she understood one thing. Even though others could have an epiphany, this epiphany could only last 6 days for them.
No one will surpass the original mark of 6 months.
"You have a kind heart, Gu Jin. Very well, I will share your thoughts with the other two elders. Together, we can spread this knowledge discreetly."
"Good."
After chatting for a while, Elder Wu repeated the matter to Gu Jin which Space had already told her.
Once Elder Wu left, Gu Jin returned to her daily life.
She first contacted Song Hancheng and after knowing that the alchemy shops were doing great, was able to generate a monthly revenue of 100 million.
Song Hancheng also told her about the new location of the 3rd and 4th branches and introduced some reliable housekeepers to her.
Gu Jin fixed an appointment and hung up.
Then she called her friends and assured them.
"By the Jin’er, did you hear that lectures are going to be conducted online from now on?"
"Hm??Online lectures? When did that happen?"
"Just recently. With the lockdown and all, the academy decided to transition to online classes. It’s a big change, but I think it’s for the best given the current situation." Liang Bao said.
"That’s a good move. It keeps everyone safe."
After hanging up the call, Gu Jin checked the internet and realized that many parasites are being dealt with seriously now.
Gu Jin heaved a sigh of relief.
Anyway, she now has ample time and can focus on her cultivation.
In the past 6 months, she lagged too much.
From, Linag Bao she knew that Chu Hua was able to break through to the Advanced Rank.
This was truly unexpected. Chu Hua was now praised as the genius prodigy.
At the young age of 16 and a half years, she was able to reach the advanced rank!
Part of it was because of her talent and part of it was the valuable resources provided by the Chu family.
Gu Jin wasn’t very impressed.
She closed her laptop after reading the news about the parasites and decided to focus on her cultivation.
..........
In a dilapidated barren land.
The sky was dark and it looked as if even the sun could illuminate the place.
A woman in a plain white robe was clasping her hand and praying.
In front of her was a huge black box which was engraved with runes. Just one look was enough to tell that the box was cursed.
Her face was serene, almost detached from the ominous object before her.
The black box pulsed with a dark energy that seemed to absorb the light around it, making the surrounding area even gloomier.
As the woman finished her prayer, she stood up and turned to face the figure behind her.
It was a tall man, cloaked in dark robes, his face hidden in the shadows.
"Lady Ling, is everything prepared?" the man asked in a deep, gravelly voice.
Lady Ling nodded.
"Yes, the ritual is complete. The curse is sealed, but it will not hold forever. We must act quickly."
The man stepped closer,
"Lady Ling, are you sure that the daughter of Might Mage Couple is still alive?"
"I am sure." Lady Ling confirmed. Her face was hidden due to the white cloak.
The man hesitated before saying,
"But even if she is alive, it doesn’t mean...she would be as righteous as her parents, right?"
Lady Ling said in a low voice,
"There is also her brother. If she is truly not righteous, we can train her brother."
"Understood." The man finally gave up. "By the way I have classified the names of the possible people who could be the daughter of Mighty Mage couple. Here is the list."
Saying so he passed the list to Lady Ling.
Lady Ling read the name one by one and finally her eyes stopped at one name,
"Gu Aihan? Isn’t she the daughter of the famous Gu family? Why is her name on the list?"
"She isn’t the real daughter of the Gu Family and no one knows about her true family. Even her age matches the age of the Mighty Mage couple."
Lady Ling asked again,
"What about her talent?"
"Above Indigo." The man informed, then after hesitating for a while he said again, " To be honest out of all the names, I feel as if Gu Aihan fits the criteria most.
Lady Ling’s eyes narrowed as she studied the name.
"Gu Aihan... very well. We will start our investigation with her.
But we must be cautious. If she truly possesses the power and lineage of the Mighty Mage couple, she could either be our greatest ally or our most formidable enemy."
The man nodded.
"I’ll begin the preparations immediately. We need to ensure our approach is subtle. Any sudden moves might alert her or her guardians."
Lady Ling turned her gaze back to the black box.
"Please...princess...meet us soon. Only you can save us."
Suddenly she coughed up blood.
"Lady Ling!" The man was stunned.
Lady Ling showed him her hand,
"I am fine, just a little backlash from using too much of mana."
