Chapter 190: Not Want To Wake Up

Chapter 190: Chapter 190: Not Want To Wake Up

Lu Siyao nodded, a small smile playing on her lips.

"I will, I promise. And Jin, thank you for always looking out for me."

Gu Jin pulled Lu Siyao into a tight embrace.

"Always, Siyao. Always."

After a moment, they separated, and Gu Jin took a deep breath before stepping out to call Fei Hanzhu back into the room.

Fei Hanzhu returned, his expression neutral but his eyes watchful.

"Have you reached a decision?"

Lu Siyao nodded.

"I’ll stay. But Gu Jin will be in constant contact, and if anything happens, you’ll have to answer to her."

Fei Hanzhu nodded.

"Of course. We will ensure her safety and keep you updated on her progress and any findings.

Also, we would be training Miss Lu. We would teach her how to fight against parasites."

Gu Jin frowned,

"You have caught some parasite to train her?"

Fei Hanzhu didn’t answer Gu Jin.

Lu Siyao was confused as to why Gu Jin frowning,

"What happened Jin? Is there anything wrong with them capturing parasites?"

Gu Jin stared at Fei Hanzhu and explained,

"Only when parasites are abundant can they use parasites to train you. It means..."

"There are many parasites out there?" Lu Siyao was shocked.

"Yes." Gu Jin asked Fei Hanzhu, "Can you tell me how many parasites you have spotted and killed till now?"

"I can’t answer your question, Miss Gu." Fei Hanzhu addressed her formally to stop Gu Jin from asking any further questions.

"As the person who is involved, it is my right to know about the parasite. Not to mention, I don’t understand why you are even hiding it from the public and us, in the first place."

Fei Hanzhu frowned,

"Miss Gu there are certain things that she would be left unknown."

In fact, his, Yifan’s, and Gu Jin’s thinking was the same.

He too proposed to announce the presence of parasites to the general public, so they could prepare in advance.

But the higher authorities declined, claiming that it would create panic and unrest between the general public.

And now that only a few people know about the presence of parasites, the parasites are smug and more daring.

But once, the general public about the existence of parasites, the parasite will surely become much more cunning and may even evolve to fight against the alert humans.

Gu Jin frowned,

"Rather than worrying about the unknown future, it’s better to prepare against the known future."

Fei Hanzhu was silent when he heard Gu Jin’s words.

For a moment he even wondered whether it was Long Yifan who had disguised himself as Gu Jin.

After all Long Yifan had used the same line when the higher authorities had warned him to not be too curious.

Eventually, under Gu Jin’s persistent gaze, Fei Hanzhu gave up and said,

"Till now more than 200 parasites have been killed and we have spotted more than...3400 parasites in Fujio city."

Fei Hanzhu only told them half-truth.

The numbers were correct, but this was the report of a year ago. Now the number has increased quite a lot.

In a way he wasn’t breaking the confidentiality law, considering how Gu Jin already knew about the existence of the parasite before.

Gu Jin pursed her lips.

Now she understood why so many people had started to go missing or killed and why even the magic academy wasn’t safe anymore.

After asking a few more questions Gu Jin left the institute.

Even though Fei Hanzhu tried to conceal as much information as he could, who was Gu Jin? It didn’t take her much to guess the reality.

The population of parasites is slowly rising and soon, they will deal a full-blown attack on humans if this continues....

Soon Gu Jin arrived at the Long Mansion. She walked up to Jasmine’s room and checked her condition.

A frown appeared on Gu Jin’s face,

"Why isn’t she waking up?"

From Gu Jin’s perspective, Jasmine was completely cured but due to some reason, Jasmine wasn’t willing to open her eyes at all...

Why?

Gu Jin could only think of one reason.

Jasmine doesn’t want to face a harsh reality or some truth.

After thinking for a while, Gu Jin decided to observe Jasmine for a month more. If even after that Jasmine doesn’t wake up then she will have to change the method of treatment.

Thinking so she stood up and walked out of the room.

Once outside she saw the head butler’s worried face.

Not wanting to hide the truth from the head butler, Gu Jin told him the truth.

"She is fully cured but for some reason, he doesn’t want to wake up. If possible..." She paused in the middle before saying,"...if possible ask her brother to talk with her for the next month. Also...I will not be visiting the mansion in the next month. So he doesn’t need to worry about me pestering him."

Gu Jin’s face was cold the entire time and even the head butler didn’t know how much Gu Jin was hurting from inside.

"Okay." The head butler nodded like a professional, then he looked at Gu Jin with a dissatisfied expression and said,

"Why have you become so thin? Is that you want to compete against in terms of losing weight?"

Gu Jin gave a small smile,

"How could I?"

"Good. Anyway...take care and if possible after one month...just stay in the Long Mansion! Things outside are not well currently." The head butler said.

He had been hesitating about breaking the news of impending danger to Gu Jin, and not scaring her at the same time.

If Gu Jin had not encountered the parasites today, she would have thought that the head butler was reminding her about the rampant beast.

After all, from the time when she moved out of the Long mansion, the head butler would ask her to shift back to the Long mansion.

"I can’t." Gu Jin said silently.

She vowed to never pursue Long Yifan.

But it was her misfortune, that she couldn’t stop loving him. It would be better to avoid him at all costs. At least she wouldn’t have to degrade herself to the point of being someone’s mistress, right?

The head butler was disappointed but he couldn’t blame Gu Jin and hence he changed the subject,

"Little Yue was asking about you."

"I will go and visit her now."

"Good." The head butler said and couldn’t help but develop a soft corner for Gu Jin.

Maybe because he knew about Gu Jins’ history and maybe because he could see present deeds, he couldn’t help but admire her.

Gu Jin was an orphan herself. She never had any sister or brother who could take care of her. Neither she was able to enjoy the love of her parents.

Her heart gradually turned cold because of this reason and he expected Gu Jin to never truly love anyone except Long Yifan.

But surprisingly, when she encountered an orphan like Ying Yue, she didn’t hesitate to help her. She even went as far as sponsoring her.

Just like a big sister, she would sometimes scold Ying Yue, sometimes accompany her to do pretty normal things, and even guide her.

Even though Gu Jin never had the chance to experience family love, she provided it wholeheartedly to Ying Yue.

Gu Jin made her way to Ying Yue’s room.

The little girl was sitting by the window, her head resting on her hand as she gazed out at the garden.

"Ying Yue," Gu Jin called softly.

Ying Yue turned, her face lighting up when she saw Gu Jin. "Sister Gu!"

Gu Jin smiled and walked over to her, sitting down on the bed.

"What were you looking at? Did you have your dinner? How is your cultivation going on?"

Ying Yue chuckled,

"I was looking at a crow. Yes, I had my dinner. My cultivation is going great but..."

Toward the end, Ying Yue frowned.

Gu Jin understood what Ying Yue was about to say,

"But couldn’t breakthrough anymore, right?"

"Yes." Ying Yue nodded.

She wanted to become powerful quickly and then protect Sister Gu and find her father!

Gu Jin was silent for a while.

"Little Yue, I have a way to increase your cultivation but, you will have to enter a secluded place and cultivate there. You can’t tell anyone about that secluded place to anyone."

Contrary to Gu Jin’s expectation, Ying Yue’s eyes dimmed.

"What happened, you don’t want to become powerful?" Gu Jin provoked her.

"Who said I didn’t want to!" Ying Yue clenched her fist and said with determination.

"Then why are you not happy."

"Sister Gu...would I not be able to see anyone once I enter seclusion?"

"Yes." Gu Jin nodded with a serious expression. Seeing Ying Yue’s sad expression, Gu Jin understood the root cause of her(Ying Yue’s) sadness.

Gu Jin was about to lecture her that it was essential to leave everyone behind when the matter revolves around cultivation, but Ying Yue’s words stunned her.
