A day passed by and Gu Jin had already prepared for her trip.

She took Jasmine with her and the head butler didn’t protest except for reminding her to take care of Jasmine and herself.

Before leaving though she made a strange request,

"Could you send their engagement video to me?"

The head butler agreed without hesitation.

Gu Jin thanked him and left.

She arrived at her classroom, as it was decided that all the students had to report to school, and from there all the students would be taken to the place where the practical exams would be held.

Gu Jin was quite relaxed. She had given Song Hancheng 2 months’ worth of pills.

After entering the classroom she saw that the usually cold classroom was quite lively and everyone was surrounding Chu Hua.

Turns out Chu Hua had reached Primary Rank Tier 3 and soon would break through the barrier of Primary Rank.

Meng Ran said with an excited expression,

"Hua, you are truly a genius! If you are able to break through to the Intermediate Rank, then you will become the 277th person across the nation to break through the Intermediate Rank "

"Really? That would be such an honor for our school!"

Chu Hua smiled modestly,

Despite her words, there was a glint of pride in her eyes. It was evident she was quite pleased with her progress.

Gu Jin silently observed the scene, her mind still preoccupied with the conversation she overheard at the mansion.

The engagement of Long Yifan loomed over her thoughts, making it hard to focus on anything else.

When she heard their conversation, she raised an eyebrow.

Just then, their homeroom teacher Teacher Fu entered the room, bringing the chatter to an abrupt halt.

The students responded with a mixture of excitement and anxiety.

Gu Jin, however, remained unfazed. She had been through tougher situations and knew how to control her emotions when necessary.

As they prepared to leave, Meng Ran suddenly stood up in front of Gu Jin and said in a showing-off tone,

"Hey, are you afraid now?"

Gu Jin tilts her head as if asking what she means.

"Hey, you haven’t forgotten about the dual that is going to be held in one year?"

Gu Jin shook her head, indicating she didn’t.

"Then aren’t you scared that Hua would easily defeat you?" Meng Ran asked with a slightly raised head.

"No." Gu Jin said calmly.

Meng Ran chuckled,

"Really? I don’t think so. After all, when you accepted the challenge you looked more confident back then!"

Gu Jin wanted to walk away.

No kidding.

She was even thinking of withdrawing from the duel.

She had 3 elements and her mana was much more stronger than Chu Hua. If she wanted, even if she rested till the date of the duel, she would easily be able to defeat her.

Meng Ran didn’t know about Gu Jin’s true level. She only knew that even though Gu Jin had awakened the fire element, she would never cast a spell.

This could only mean that she hasn’t controlled her star path yet. That could only mean that even though Gu Jin’s mana-gathering was good, her talent in magic was below average.

With smugness on her face, Meng Ran said,

"Well, Hua’s progress is remarkable, isn’t it?" Meng Ran continued, her tone dripping with condescension.

"I just thought you might be feeling a bit... intimidated."

Gu Jin met Meng Ran’s gaze, her expression as composed as ever.

"Intimidated? No, I’m not."

Meng Ran’s smirk widened.

"Oh, come on. You can’t seriously think you stand a chance against her now."

Gu Jin shrugged lightly, her demeanor unruffled.

"We’ll see when the time comes."

Chu Hua, noticing the tension, approached them with a gentle smile.

"Meng Ran, let’s not cause any unnecessary stress before the practical exam. We all need to stay focused."

Meng Ran frowned but stepped back, albeit reluctantly.

"Fine, but don’t think I’m backing down, Gu Jin. This duel will happen, and we’ll see who’s stronger."

Teacher Fu clapped his hands to regain the class’s attention.

"Alright, everyone, enough chatter. Let’s get moving to the training grounds."

The students filed out of the classroom, excitement and nervous energy buzzing in the air.

Gu Jin followed the crowd.

Her phone suddenly rang and Gu Jin saw the auction house’s host’s number flashing.

Gu Jin calmly walked up to Teacher Fu and said,

"I want to use the washroom."

Teacher Fu nodded and said with a gentle smile,

"Sure. Go ahead."

Gu Jin turned toward the female washroom and called back the host.

When the call connected the host’s excited voice came from the other side,

"Mister Su?"

"Yes."

"Sir, do you remember that you had asked me to buy a fire Mystic Seed, right?" The host asked.

"Yes."

"Sir, I was able to get my hands on two fire high-grade mystic seeds, would you like to see them?" The host asked politely.

"Um...I am currently out of town. How about this I will return in 5 days, can you wait till then?" Gu Jin asked.

"Sir it would be a bit difficult..." The host’s voice was filled with reluctance.

"100,000 yuan. I will give you an extra 100,000 yuan." Gu Jin said generously.

"Sure!" The host was delighted and agreed right away.

After chatting for a bit, Gu Jin exited the washroom and made her way downstairs.

As she passed by one of the empty classrooms, she heard a stifled sound and Gu Jin was instantly on alert.

Gu Jin’s senses sharpened as she approached the door of the empty classroom.

The stifled sound became clearer, a mixture of suppressed whimpers and shuffling.

Carefully, she pushed the door open just enough to peer inside.

Her eyes adjusted to the dim light filtering through the windows, revealing two figures who were...kissing!

Gu Jin instantly pulled away and berated herself for overthinking.

She walked downstairs with an embarrassed face.

Joining the line in which her classmates were standing, Gu Jin started to make future plans.

Her life so far was filled with only four things, cultivating to become powerful, earning money, gathering resources, and...

But the future can’t go on like that.

She has to gradually distance herself from him and to do so, the best way would be to become busy.

Just then head teacher, Teacher Fu walked in front of them along with the head teacher of other classes.

However, the boy from Grade 2 didn’t return even after the announcement.

Suddenly a staff ran towards the training ground and whispered something in the head teacher’s ears.

One by one all the head teacher’s faces turned pale.

They hurriedly left the ground and Gu Jin couldn’t stop herself from becoming curious.

Feeling tired all the students started to chat and Gu Jin started to collect important information.

10 minutes passed and all the head teachers returned with worried faces.

Gu Jin raised an eyebrow. Her instincts were telling her, that something bad had happened.

All the head teachers asked the students to gather in the auditorium and no one was allowed to leave the crowd.

Once in the auditorium, Xi Yun, the head teacher of Grade 3 Class A, took the mic and asked,

"Does anyone know who He Yao is?"

Gu Jin knew He Yao. He was one of the boys with good potential after Meng Ran.

He was a cheerful person.

Xi Yun continued, trying to maintain order.

"We have received information that He Yao’s body was found in a very disturbing state. His arms, head, and legs were missing, as if someone had torn him apart."
