The Mighty Mage
Chapter 144: Feng Tian’s Curiosity

Chapter 144: Chapter 144: Feng Tian’s Curiosity

The dark beast lunged forward, claws extended to deliver the final blow.

Gu Jin, however, was prepared.

As the barrier disintegrated, she swiftly moved, evading the beast’s deadly strike by a hair’s breadth.

In one fluid motion, she thrust her hand forward, the dark fire knife aimed directly at the beast’s heart.

The beast’s eyes widened in shock as the dark fire knife pierced its chest.

The concentrated energy of the dark fire element, combined with the precision of Gu Jin’s strike, created an explosion of power that engulfed the beast from within.

It let out a blood-curdling roar, its body convulsing as the dark fire consumed it from the inside out.

Gu Jin didn’t relent.

She poured all her remaining energy into the knife, ensuring that the beast couldn’t escape the inferno she had unleashed.

The flames flickered and danced, their dark hue blending with the beast’s own dark energy, but ultimately overpowering it.

Finally, with a final, desperate cry, the beast collapsed. Its body disintegrated into ash, scattered by the force of the dark fire.

Till the last moment of its life, the dark beast couldn’t believe that it died at the hands of an Intermediate Rank Mage!

Gu Jin stood over the remains, breathing heavily, her entire body trembling from the exertion.

The space within her mind spoke up, its tone both relieved and impressed. "Master, you did it. The beast is no more."

Gu Jin nodded weakly, her legs almost giving way beneath her. She forced herself to stay upright, knowing she couldn’t afford to rest yet.

"Where... is the Dark Solar Vein?" she asked, her voice strained.

"Straight ahead," the space replied. "You’re very close now."

Gu Jin took a deep breath and began to move, her steps unsteady.

Along the way, she encountered some more dark beasts, but her fight which had attracted the attention of many dark beasts, made most of the beasts below Soul Class retreat.

Of course, some sought their death and jumped to fight Gu Jin.

After what felt like an eternity, she finally reached a clearing. In the center, a pulsing vein of dark energy glowed ominously.

Gu Jin was about to walk up to the vein when suddenly, everything turned black. She bit her tongue to stay away and touched the Dark Solar Vein.

"Place it in space." Gu Jin said to the space in a gritted tone.

"Right away master." The space replied and the Solar Dark Vein vanished from the forest.

Gu Jin fainted the moment she heard the word ’master’

She wanted to enter her space, but it was too late.

Gu Jin’s unconscious body lay sprawled on the ground, her chest rising and falling with shallow breaths.

The forest around her seemed to hold its breath in anticipation, the oppressive atmosphere now tinged with an eerie stillness.

The dark beasts, sensing the change in the air, cautiously approached, their eyes glinting with curiosity and wariness. They circled around Gu Jin’s prone form.

Among them, a few bolder creatures ventured closer, their noses twitching as they sniffed the air around Gu Jin.

They sensed the lingering scent of dark fire and plant energy, remnants of the intense battle that had taken place moments ago.

As they drew nearer, they could see the faint rise and fall of Gu Jin’s chest, a sign that she was still alive but unconscious.

Some of the beasts exchanged wary glances, greed glinting in their eyes as they contemplated the possibility of attacking this seemingly defenseless prey.

But others, perhaps sensing the lingering aura of power that surrounded Gu Jin even in her unconscious state, urged caution.

"Let’s kill her!" One of the bolder beasts said.

Some of the timid shook their head and one of the beasts who had witnessed the entire process said firmly,

"Don’t. I think she is faking her death. Once we attack her and she reveals her true power, we won’t stand a chance against her."

The bolder beasts scoffed at the idea, dismissing it as cowardice.

But the wise beast stood firm, its instincts warning it of the danger that lurked within Gu Jin’s unconscious form

"I am leaving."’ That wise dark beast said and left.

Some of the timid ones followed him.

This didn’t deter the bolder beast though. They attacked Gu Jin.

However even before they could touch her, a blue protective layer formed around her.

The bolder beast was instantly scared. He remembered how Gu Jin had used the plant element to hide and once she recovered, she brutally killed Zaka(the beast Gu Jin previously fought with)

The bolder beast and all the other dark beasts ran away instantly.

....................

"What?" Zhang Wei asked with shock.

"He is in Evergloom forest." Feng Tian said with an irritated expression.

Zhang Wei looked at the Evergloom forest and gritted his teeth.

Truly their group’s Su Jin’s luck was very bad.

He had asked that kid to stay away from the spatial rift and Evergloom forest and that kid ended up in both places in just the next 14 hours.

"Let me go! I will search for him." Liu Sunhao said with a somber expression.

Zhang Wei shook his head and said,

"If we are going we all will go. Does anyone have any problem?"

All the other members of the Shadow Fang group shook their heads.

Feng Tian sighed dramatically and said,

"How liver-touching!"

Shadow Fangs: "..."

Feng Tian smiled when he saw their speechless face and said,

"Let’s go, I will lead you."

For an advanced rank group, the Evergloom was a very dangerous place but for a Super Rank Mage like him, it was nothing.

As they ventured into the depths of the Evergloom forest, the atmosphere grew increasingly ominous.

The dense canopy overhead blocked out most of the sunlight, casting the forest floor into shadowy darkness.

The air was thick with the sounds of unseen creatures moving through the underbrush, their presence felt more than seen.

Feng Tian led the way with a confident stride, his senses alert for any signs of danger.

Zhang Wei and the other members of the Shadow Fang group followed closely behind, their weapons at the ready and their nerves on edge.

They had all heard the stories of the Evergloom forest – tales of dark beasts and ancient curses that lurked within its depths.

But they were not ones to be deterred by mere legends.

Their mission was clear: find Su Jin and bring him back safely, no matter the cost.

As they pushed deeper into the forest, the darkness seemed to close in around them, the oppressive atmosphere weighing heavily on their shoulders.

Suddenly, Feng Tian held up a hand, signaling for the group to stop. He cocked his head to the side, listening intently for any sounds that might betray their presence.

Zhang Wei and the others fell silent, their senses on high alert as they scanned the surrounding forest for any signs of movement.

After a tense moment, Feng Tian nodded and motioned for the group to continue.

He had detected a faint disturbance in the air, a subtle shift that hinted at the presence of something – or someone – nearby.

The group was surprised to find that no dark beast had attacked them.

Later they realised that maybe it was because of Feng Tian. He was a Super mage after all. All those beasts below soul rank would never attack him for sure!

So with Feng Tian by their side, the group was a bit relaxed.

As they moved forward, they soon came upon a clearing in the forest. In the center, they saw a figure lying motionless on the ground.

Zhang Wei’s heart clenched with fear as he recognized the familiar form of Su Jin.

By now all the dark beast had left.

In fact, they had left the moment they sensed Feng Tian’s aura.

Liu Sunhao rushed forward to pick up Gu Jin, however, a blue protective barrier bounced him back.

Feng Tian who was uninterested till now, immediately looked over.

When he saw the blue protective barrier, shock, surprise and interest flashed in his eyes. He said to Liu Sunhao,

"Move aside."

Liu Sunhao thought that Feng Tian was helping and hence he moved to the side.

However, Feng Tian didn’t do anything and only stared at the blue protective barrier. Finally, he muttered,

"How interesting!"

Without a word, Feng Tian made an arrow from his space element and shot it towards the blue barrier.

The barrier seemed to sense the intrusion and shimmered with renewed energy, pulsating with a bright blue light.

It expanded outward, forming a dome around Gu Jin’s unconscious form, deflecting the arrow harmlessly away.

Feng Tian raised an eyebrow in surprise, his interest piqued by the barrier’s defensive response.

He had not expected such a strong reaction from a seemingly simple protective barrier.

After eliminating various factors, he reached the conclusion that Gu Jin had a soul-grade artifact, Feng Tian couldn’t help but be curious about Gu Jin.
