The Mighty Mage
Chapter 120: The Compass

Chapter 120: Chapter 120: The Compass

Zhang Wei looked at the psychic array with a complex look and said,

"Don’t you know? The authorities never interfere in matters related to such type of incident!"

"Huh? Why?" Gu Jin was genuinely confused.

Why would someone set up such a deadly psychic array in the middle of the forest? And why wouldn’t the authorities help?

Zhang Wei gritted his teeth and said,

"It is the work of those worms!"

Gu Jin rolled her eyes and said,

"You can create this mysterious environment later leader, now you need to quickly tell me who is behind this?"

Zhang Wei was embarrassed when Gu Jin exposed him and scolded her,

"You kid! I was saying everything for your own benefit! Anyway, it is the work of...."

Suddenly the cloud flashed with lightning and the air intensified.

"Ebon Shadow!"

The sound of lightning came and the atmosphere turned chilly.

Gu Jin’s lips twitched with anger and she said,

"Xu Mingtao and Liu Sunhao, trust me if you dare to use this effect again, I would throw you from where you are sitting."

These two brats can’t even understand that they are having an important conversation and tried to do this dumb sh*t!

Xu Mingtao smiled sheepishly and asked,

"How do you know that it was me?"

"Yeah! I didn’t even do anything!" Liu Sunhao sighed.

When Gu Jin didn’t answer him, Liu Sunhao showed an angry look and said,

"Hey! Su Jin, remember I am your senior in this group if you dare to show me attitude I will..."

"Shut up!" Zhang Wei shouted and Liu Sunhao obediently shut his mouth.

Gu Jin was truly speechless by Liu Sunhao.

Does he not understand the type of danger they were in? Or does he...

"Yes. So what I was saying? Ebon of Shadows! They are a group of Mage with very high cultivation, however they hate humanity for some reason."

Gu Jin understood.

Even in her previous life, many groups wanted to make humanity go extinct.

They hated humanity. And the reason for it...was either their past or their obsession.

Gu Jin wasn’t the type of person who would be concerned with such people. Do they want to destroy the world? Go ahead.

But don’t try to touch her or her loved ones, otherwise, she would ensure that they would have nowhere to go.

Gu Jin asked the next important question,

"So why are authorities not concerned? Why don’t they catch them? And why wouldn’t they help?"

"More like how tired they are. Also, the last time a police officer tried to help in such an incident, in the end, his entire family was harassed and almost killed.

From then on normal police officers don’t interfere in such a matter."

Gu Jin could understand the meaning behind Zhang Wei’s words and asked,

"So you are saying that even if we overcome this crisis those Ebon Shadows members would follow us?"

Zhang Wei kept his mouth shut.

"Exactly." A cold voice said.

Everyone was stunned and turned to look in the direction from where the voice came and sure enough, they saw a person in a black cloak standing on the branch of one of the trees.

His hands were behind and his entire face was covered. His aura was dangerous.

On his cloak was a symbol. However, due to the distance, the entire group couldn’t see the symbol.

Gu Jin’s pocket vibrated but she was too focused on the man and hence she didn’t sense it.

"Who are you?" Zhang Wei asked but his trembling voice told everyone that he knew who that person was.

"Don’t you know? Or...you already have the idea but still want to accept the reality." The cold voice said.

"Are... you a member of...E-Ebon Shadows?" Zhang Wei asked.

The black-cloaked man chuckled,

"Not yet. Actually, this psychic array was my test. And because of you six, I am close to failing my test.

If you put away those cheap of yours, I might give you an easy death."

Zhang Wei kept his mouth shut and disagreed right away.

"Having difficulty in deciding? Fine, I will help you."

Then the black-cloaked man snapped his finger forming an arc and Zhang Wei felt a sharp pain on his right shoulder.

"Ahhhhh." Zhang Wei shouted and Gu Jin quickly used her vines to stop Zhang Wei from falling while she used her other vine to catch Zhang Wei’s right arm.

Yes. Zhang Wei’s right arm had been cut off.

The other members were horrified.

Even Xu Mingtao and Liu Sunhao’s faces had turned pale.

"Leader!" Yi Ran called out in a trembling voice.

Gu Jin stared at the right hand and Zhang Wei who was screaming in pain.

Her face didn’t have much expression and she asked calmly to the black cloak man,

"What is your name?"

The black cloak man stared at Gu Jin in hatred. Because of this bastard, he was close to failing his test and hence he hated Gu Jin.

"Little bast*rd, don’t think I will let you off. Even if you beg I will not let you off!"

Gu Jin didn’t answer him and asked,

"What is your name?"

"Bast*rd!" The black cloak man was angered. How dare this bast*rd not answer him?

Does he not know who he is?

Gu Jin chuckled and asked Yi Ran,

"Can you heal the leader’s hand?"

After being in Magic Academy for a year, she knew certain things about each element. The Healing element when in an advanced stage can regenerate cells.

"Y-y-es" Yi Ran answered.

"Good. Then give him the treatment." Gu Jin passed Zhang Wei to Yi Ran through the vines.

Zhang Wei who was in pain warned Gu Jin,

"B-Be ca-care-ful."

Gu Jin nodded.

The black cloak man suddenly snapped his finger again and attacked Gu Jin.

However, before his attack could reach Gu Jin, a blue protective barrier appeared around her.

The barrier deflected the attack with ease. What was even more amazing was...the attack was rebounded!

The smile on the black cloak man’s face vanished and he tried to dodge the attack however, he wasn’t successful and his right arm’s fingers were cut off.

The scene was so crude that Yi Ran and Xu Mingtao looked away uneasily.

They had killed beasts before and even dealt with some thugs, however, they were only a small-time mercenary group and never encountered such evil people.

They knew about Ebon Shadows for a long time but never knew that the people in Ebon Shadows were so cruel...

"Ahhhhh." The black cloak man shouted in pain.

"What?" Xu Mingtao was stunned.

Did she clearly?

How could the black cloak man’s attack could get rebounded?

Just now she was about to jump on the branch on which Gu Jin was standing to save her, however before she could even jump the attack had already reached Gu Jin.

Xu Mingtao knew that space elements were the most dangerous. However, it was today that she understood the horrors of Space Element.

But what surprised her was how easily Su Jin(Gu Jin) was able to dodge the attack and even rebound it.

It was truly amazing!

The question was what element was it?

Liu Sunhao clenched his fist and put something back in his pocket. He was about to his secret weapon, but when he saw the blue protective barrier, he withdrew.

However now he was filled with curiosity. This boy Su Jin...maybe was not as simple as he looked...

Tang Guan was sweating from fear when he saw Su Jin being attacked and almost used his secret art, but stopped at the right moment.

He too looked at Su Jin with suspicion.

Others might not know what Su Jin’s compass grade was. But he who was educated about the artifacts grade since childhood knew.

Soul Grade...

How could Su Jin have this artifact?

Zhang Wei and Yi Ran were surprised too.

Gu Jin was stunned and withdrew her dark fire’s spell which she was about to use secretly.

She was ready to lose her arms. Anyway, they could be repaired?

However, what made her surprised was the blue protective barrier around her.

How did this blue barrier form around her?

Suddenly Gu Jin paused and realized that a low vibration was coming from her pocket.

She touched her pocket and took out the compass.

As expected the compass was vibrating and it was clear that the blue film around her was formed by that compass.

Gu Jin lightly caressed the compass and put it back in her pocket.

After the pain was subdued the black-cloaked man looked at Gu Jin with gritted teeth. However, he didn’t attack her.

He never expected that a small mercenary group member would have a Soul-Grade magic artifact!
