Chapter 97: Chapter 97 Going to Hell Together
Shen Cong looked at his son, panting heavily, "Yes, yes, yes, there is surveillance. Let’s check the footage."
A few minutes later, the surveillance footage was retrieved.
Old Mrs. Yun was also present, along with some prominent members of the Shen Family.
Shen Heying personally controlled the mouse, pulling up the footage from a few days ago, and rewinding to that night.
Sure enough, a figure appeared on the screen, quietly pushing open Shen Cong’s bedroom door. Seeing that no one was inside, the figure tiptoed in and took out a book from their coat, placing it on the desk.
The person was wearing a hat, making it impossible to see their face clearly.
After placing the forbidden book there, they lifted their head and adjusted their hat.
Shen Heying gasped loudly, throwing the mouse aside, and looked at the others in shock.
The person in the surveillance footage was him.
"No, no way, it wasn’t me, I didn’t do anything, I don’t even know this book."
An intense chill swept through his nerves to every part of his body, filling him with unprecedented fear.
Because he had no memory of this at all.
Yun Qiuce’s mind suddenly couldn’t process it all; he scratched his head, "Mom, am I too stupid? I don’t get it at all."
He looked again at Shen Heying, "But the footage clearly shows it’s you. You framed your own father and then pretended to know nothing while asking for help to save him. Are you sick?"
Shen Heying shouted anxiously:
"It’s really not me. Dad, Dad, you must believe me, I didn’t do anything, I don’t even know where this book came from."
Shen Cong’s face alternated between pale and ashen, resembling a dead man, cold sweat pouring down his temples.
"Heying... Dad believes you..."
"If you believe him, then how do you explain the surveillance footage?"
Yun Qi sneered, watching everything unfold before her.
Although it was hard to comprehend, she had a rough guess of what was happening.
Karma, it was just a replay of what had happened before.
"Is it retribution, is it?"
Shen Cong clutched his head, squatted down, and started to cry loudly.
"Are you aware of your sins?" The voice from the dream reappeared in his mind.
It turned out that the things he had done were indeed known by the heavens; the Gods were watching.
"Dad, what exactly is going on? What happened? I can’t understand any of it." Shen Heying also seemed on the verge of collapse.
Yun Qi sighed, stepped forward, and gestured to Shen Heying.
The gesture made by the sweet little Dumpling did not seem out of place at all; rather, it felt righteously stern.
The tall Shen Heying obediently walked up to her, and Yun Qi gestured for him to lower his head.
Shen Heying complied but couldn’t help pleading softly, "Little Master, I really don’t know anything."
Yun Qi nodded, her sweet voice reassuring him, "I understand. Just listen to me."
Saying that, she used her vermillion-stained finger to touch Shen Heying’s forehead, and a golden talisman silently entered his mind.
Shen Heying felt a powerful force invade his brain, as if a massive hand was clutching his nerves tightly, trying to uproot something.
"Ah—my head, it hurts, it hurts so much..." he screamed frantically, shouting loudly, even rolling on the ground.
Even Shen Cong had never seen such mystical techniques before; he looked at Yun Qi in shock, his voice trembling,
"What are you doing? Come at me if you must!"
Yun Qi lifted her little face disdainfully, full of pride, "I won’t be like you, always doing harmful things."
As her words fell, Shen Heying’s screams stopped. He opened his eyes wide, beads of sweat dripping down his forehead, the confusion in his eyes wiped clean, replaced by clarity and brightness.
"I... I remember now."
Memory rewound to a few days ago, at dusk.
There was no one in the living room, and the lights weren’t on yet. The setting sun cast a dim red light through the floor-to-ceiling windows onto the floor.
He went downstairs, feeling as if there was the sound of wind outside the window, and instinctively raised his head to meet a pair of scarlet eyes flickering with firelight.
At that moment, a strange, incomprehensible thought entered his mind. He felt as if he lost consciousness, uncontrollably walking to his father’s private storage room, searching through it until he found a book. Then he pushed open his father’s bedroom door and, seeing no one inside, placed the book on the desk.
"It was me; I put it there. But I can’t remember doing this, and I didn’t know my dad had a forbidden book hidden away before..."
