Chapter 36 The Irritable Little Paper Man
Chapter 36: Chapter 36 The Irritable Little Paper Man
At 7 a.m., the stubborn Little Milk Dumpling was finally carried into the Xu Family Mansion by Yun Qiuce.
In the bright living room of the Half Mountain Villa, Mo Wanting, Xu Leiyue, and others filled the room, making the spacious living room feel somewhat crowded.
"Make way, make way," Yun Qiuce said as he carried Yun Qi inside.
Xu Xueyan’s friends exchanged looks and whispered, "Is that Yun Qiuce?"
"Didn’t Xueyan say she drove him away yesterday? Why did she invite him back again?"
"He’s so handsome."
"Hey! This is the time to worry about Xueyan more."
...
Yun Qi was placed on the ground. Because she hadn’t slept until she awoke naturally, her eyes were a bit hazy, like a young animal just learning to walk, wobbling a few steps.
Even the anxious Mo Wanting found this little one exceedingly cute.
"Qi, no, Master Xiao Qi. Yesterday afternoon..." Mo Wanting struggled to speak.
Yun Qi raised one hand like a little grown-up, making a gesture to stop, her chubby arm tense, and her watery phoenix eyes took on a serious look, "Now is not the time for quarrels; the main issue is urgent. Has she taken the medicine?"
"Yes, but the fever hasn’t gone down," Mo Wanting replied, on the verge of tears. The doctor had drawn blood for tests, and the results were back.
There was no problem; just a persistent high fever and delirious speech. Even the doctor guessed it was caused by shock, but the sedatives and calming medication weren’t effective.
A while ago, she was somewhat conscious, but now she’s completely passed out, and no matter how they shouted, she wouldn’t wake up.
"Mm, just as I thought. The medicine is useless. Her illness is mental."
Yun Qi raised her eyes, her phoenix eyes sweeping around the room. Her hair was a bit messy, a strand standing prominently, with a few hairs pressed against her cheek, leaving complex and beautiful marks.
Before she spoke, the onlookers took a collective step back.
Everyone thought, This child’s eyes speak!
Yun Qi, satisfied, withdrew her gaze and placed her small hand on Xu Xueyan’s forehead, "Her soul is scattered; we need to call it back."
As she spoke, she took out a stack of red paper and a pair of small scissors, stepping on the wool carpet before sitting cross-legged.
The others quietly watched, not daring to make a sound.
For some reason, they felt that this cross-legged, bare-footed Little Master was... adorably fierce.
Xu Leiyue turned and walked into the kitchen, quickly returning with a box of milk and a few small bread rolls, placing them on the small tea table next to her.
Yun Qi focused on her actions and quickly cut out a stack of red paper men.
She formed a spell, and the string of paper men suddenly ignited. The flames swept upward, soon leaving only ashes falling onto Xu Xueyan.
In an instant, a chill filled the living room, and the people exchanged bewildered looks, feeling as if they had momentarily connected to another world.
In another space, Xu Xueyan dressed in white, lowered her head. The path beneath her feet extended forward into the darkness, with towering black mountains on both sides, imposing and eerie, and the sky above twisted.
She walked forward, just about to reach the foot of the mountain, when she heard a sound behind her. She looked down for a long time, discovering a string of red paper men at her feet.
Small hands, small feet, eyes and nose, lifelike.
"Where are you going? The road ahead isn’t for you to walk." The leading paper man laughed, extending a small arm to point in the opposite direction.
"Let’s go; I’ll take you home."
Xu Xueyan knelt down, moved to tears, and burst into loud sobs, "Qi, is it you? Boohoo, you finally came to save me. I want to go home. I shouldn’t have said those things to you..."
The paper man blinked its "eyes," feeling annoyed. Crying and whining.
So it kicked its legs and leapt onto Xu Xueyan’s knee, extending its hand.
Xu Xueyan, surprised and delighted, also extended her hand, "You want me to hold you..."
Before she could finish, the paper man extended its two chubby fists, and with a swift motion, slapped Xu Xueyan’s face multiple times.
"Are you coming or not? Stop talking nonsense! I can only last a few minutes, and you’ve wasted half of it with your crying."
