Chapter 33: Chapter 33 Ancient Women

After Yun Qiuce and his group left.

Mo Wanting still felt unlucky and told the servants to clean the places where the three of them had just sat.

As she was speaking, Xu Shixiong returned.

She quickly went up to him, took his briefcase, and said with a cheerful smile, "You’re back quite early today. What would you like to eat? I’ll have the kitchen prepare it."

Xu Shixiong frowned, looking tired and impatient.

"Whatever, I’m not hungry. You all eat, don’t wait for me."

Saying this, he was about to head to the study.

Mo Wanting, however, tugged at his hand and swayed it, "Honey..." she cooed sweetly.

"What do you want, old couple stuff doesn’t make you feel gross?" Xu Shixiong pulled his hand back, entered the study without looking back, and slammed the door shut, leaving one last sentence, "Don’t bother me if it’s nothing important."

Mo Wanting looked embarrassed, turned to glance at the servants cleaning, and angrily shouted, "Still not done? So slow, what’s the use of having you all."

The servants hurriedly finished tidying up and left the living room.

Mo Wanting crossed her arms and muttered to herself, thinking of the words from the young girl in the afternoon, "Unlucky!"

Xu Xueyan came downstairs and asked casually, "Mom, what are you doing?"

Without waiting for an answer, she turned and walked towards Xu Shixiong’s study.

Mo Wanting tried to stop her but couldn’t, so she left reluctantly.

Xu Xueyan quietly pushed open the door and called out in a flattering tone, "Dad..."

Xu Shixiong was rubbing his temples, "What’s up? Anything you need?"

Xu Xueyan ran up behind him, put her arms around his neck, and cooed, "Dad, can you give me some pocket money?"

"Why do you need pocket money again? Didn’t I just give you some a few days ago..."

"Oh, Dad, I’ve grown up, there’s so much to spend on..." She hugged Xu Shixiong’s neck, swaying like a koala, playfully charming.

Xu Shixiong sighed, pulling out a card from his wallet, "You’re grown up, should be making friends, this is my secondary card, take it and spend."

"Thanks, Dad, you’re the best."

She gave Xu Shixiong a peck on the cheek, gleefully took the secondary card, and walked away happily.

As she shut the door from outside, she vaguely saw a classic painting on the wall, where an ancient woman seemed to wink at her.

She thought she had seen it wrong. Upon taking a closer look, it was nothing.

But her heart skipped a beat, and Yun Qi’s words echoed in her ears.

Could there really be something?

In the middle of the night, Hai City was still brightly lit.

The young gathered together, striving to shine brightly in the corners of the city, burning their already limited youth.

Xu Xueyan was among them, having gotten her dad’s secondary card today, she could spend freely, making her the center of attention among her friends.

She recounted the afternoon’s incident when Yun Qiuce and his group came over talking nonsense, treating it as a joke for her friends.

"Oh, Yun Qiuce, who doesn’t know he’s the famous rich second-generation loafer in Hai City?"

"Where did he get a little niece from, I know someone called Yun Ying, she must be around the teenage years."

"It’s from his third brother’s side, who’s been dead for years, I heard his little niece was bad luck from the start."

...

Xu Xueyan, having had some drinks, was supporting her head with her hand, half-listening to the conversation.

Gradually, the faces of her friends became blurred, her vision zooming in and out continuously.

She stood up wobbly, threw the secondary card on the table, "No more drinks, I feel dizzy. Today’s on me, enjoy yourselves."

Ignoring her friends’ attempts to stop her, she stumbled her way to the restroom.

Planning to visit the restroom and then leave.

The bar was converted from an abandoned factory, decorated in a postmodern industrial style, with various pipes crisscrossing overhead, giving it a wild, sci-fi feel.

The restroom was at the end of a corridor, requiring one to walk a stretch of narrow, dim passage.

Xu Xueyan, having drunk quite a bit, her high heels clattered noisily on the ground.

Someone greeted her, "Hi!"

Drunk, she assumed it was a friend, and instinctively greeted back, "Hi!"

Looking up, there was no one there.
