Chapter 99: Confrontation with Aditya
"What is happening?" Daniel walked to them, and Dexter followed.
"She drank some spiked juice. It’s my fault," Samantha said, and Dexter looked at the girl who always said no to alcohol, even when they used to hang out. It looks like her liquor-holding capacity is really low.
He sighed.
"You don’t need to dance with her," Dexter was about to remove her from Alcinder’s grip when Alcinder pulled her away.
"She is drunk. Do you want her to create a scene because I didn’t dance with her? What if she starts screaming? We can’t risk her reputation. Let’s stay for a while before taking her back, yeah?" Alcinder asked and was about to pull her to the dance floor when Elliana jerked his hand away.
"Are you crushing on me or something? Why are you holding my hand?" Elliana narrowed her eyes at Alcinder, who rolled his eyes.
She turned around and saw Madeline standing at some distance.
Madeline looked at her little sister and smiled inwardly. Though she had prepared an even heavier dose of something worse, seeing her sister swaying on her foot like this wasn’t bad either.
Little by little, with these small attacks, she’ll break her will to come to this University.
It was wrong of her to go for something worse at the first strike. She needs to remember she isn’t just the same pathetic human anymore. Elliana is someone’s pet wife now.
"I don’t like her, "Elliana pointed at Madeline, and Daniel chuckled before pulling her hand down as people were now starting to stare at her.
"I don’t think keeping her here is a good idea," Daniel thinned his lips.
"Really? That’s not fair. We didn’t even enjoy the party properly. Are you going to go just like that? You were looking forward to this party the most," Melony said, and Daniel thinned his lips.
There was no doubt what Melony said was right. He was indeed looking forward to this party because of how well he organized it and because this was the first official party marking their entrance to University.
He looked at the girl in his hands, who was giggling without any reason, and sighed.
"You enjoy the party. I’ll take care of her until you want to go back. Don’t worry," Alcinder said after some time.
"Aaah, here is our hero, always coming to save us from trouble, no?" Melony half hugged Alcinder before Drake pulled her away possessively.
"I will bring her out of here for some time and get her to drink some water so that she feels better," Alcinder said, and everyone nodded before walking towards the dance floor and food aisle to enjoy with everyone.
Alcinder sighed and looked at the girl in his arms before pulling her out. He was about to take her to the stairs so that he could bring her to the garden when Aditya rushed behind him and held her hand.
"Elliana, wait," Aditya looked at the girl earnestly.
The look she had been giving him the entire night since she saw him and for a couple of days wasn’t settling well with him. The look that contained no softness like there used to be. It only contained hatred, the kind that Aditya had never seen before for himself.
Was it because he wasn’t able to find who ordered those boys who attacked her in the forest? Was that the reason behind her hatred?
She wanted him to believe that it was Madeline, and he didn’t. Was that why she hated him now?
"Leave her hand, and we can talk," Alcinder’s voice was curt and cold, and Aditya, who was himself the son of the human council head, looked at the Vampire in the eyes before looking at the girl.
"What do you want to talk about, Mr. Aditya?" Elliana raised her gaze and looked into Aditya’s eyes.
The words of those boys echoed in her head once again, and she clasped her fists around her dress nervously.
’No matter what happens, keep your emotions in check,’ Yaretzi’s warning echoed in her head.
"Mr. Aditya? Why are you being so formal with me, Elliana? It’s me. We are fri -" Elliana placed her finger on Aditya’s lips before he could complete his sentence.
"Why did you hurt me, Aditya? Was my feelings always such a sore sight to you?" Elliana’s words made him pause.
"I trusted you, Aditya. When I felt like no one among my family and friends liked me, I tested you. You held my hand and told me you would never let go. That you’ll be my friend forever," Elliana spoke without regard that Alcinder was standing right behind her and hearing her words too.
Her eyes quivered because of the influx of emotions in her heart, and she looked at her hand that was clenched around her clutch.
"I know you trust me, Elliana. Why are you talking like this? I always cared for you and still do. You are more than just a friend to me. You are the one I admired for a long time. The one I wanted -" Aditya paused and controlled his feelings that were about to be spilled.
He can’t make that mistake. Not when someone else is also here and listening to their words. He can’t afford to make slip-ups like this.
Aditya ruffled his hair before holding Elliana’s shoulders.
Alcinder wanted to interject, but he has always felt that there is something between Aditya and Elliana that no one knows about. And that’s the reason they keep finding each other one way or another.
He wanted to know what was going on here. And that’s why, like a spectator, he stood there, watching and waiting for them to finish what they were talking about.
The spiked juice Elliana drank was bringing her true emotions, and they looked nothing less than that of a person who was betrayed.
Elliana couldn’t believe his words. How can a person be so shameless? How can he have the audacity to say these words to her face after what he did?
"You are really important to me, Elliana. Believe me. That’s why I have been looking for the boys -"
Slap!
Elliana slapped Aditya so hard that his head whipped to the side.
Aditya stood frozen in his place. Elliana’s actions shocked even Alcinder, who didn’t expect such an outburst from her.
"You believe me?" Elliana pointed at herself before she started chuckling dryly.
"You believe me, Aditya?!!" She raised her voice before stepping closer to him.
She held Aditya’s collar and pushed him onto the pillar, forcing him to look into her eyes.
"You are trying to look for those boys? Guess what? You will never find them," Elliana smirked.
"What do you mean?" Aditya asked, keeping her slap aside.
"You are a liar, Aditya. Now I know why you never believed me. You two are indeed made for each other. A perfect couple," Elliana clapped and turned around, but Aditya held her hand.
There was no way he was letting her go after she slapped him in front of the members of other species like this. There was no way he would let her go without knowing the reason behind her sudden outburst.
"What are you talking about? I am truly trying to find those boys and -"
Elliana smiled before jerking his hand away. She took out her phone and played the video.
"It was Mr. Aditya. The son of the council’s head ordered us to do it. He ordered us to beat you black and blue,"
Aditya looked at the boys, whom he clearly remembered since he had been trying to find them for some time, and then looked at Elliana.
Alcinder also heard the content and narrowed his eyes. This b*stard was looking for a beating, wasn’t he?
"Where did you get this video from?" Aditya asked, and Elliana pulled her hand back before he could grab the phone from her.
"Does that matter, Mr. Aditya? I didn’t know I was being such a nuisance to you. But how could I forget? It was always a sore sight for your girlfriend. So now you are resorting to these methods to get rid of me," Elliana said, and Aditya shook his head.
"That’s not the truth, Elliana. Why would I want to go beat you up, black and blue? I always considered you more than a friend -"
"If not you, then who? Who else has the power to give jobs in the council chambers? Who has this kind of authority around you and is more disturbed by my presence? Talk to me when you have the reasons, okay?" Elliana turned around and held Alcinder’s hand, walking away from the scene, leaving Aditya standing there in his own trail of thoughts.
