The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride
Chapter 96: Dance on fire

Chapter 96: Dance on fire

"You mean to say you danced with him because you were afraid?" Alcinder probed more.

"No. Because I was startled, this was the first time I attended a party in my life. I didn’t know things like these happen. I thought Daniel would be the only one to dance with me because he is my partner," Elliana was visibly confused about everything, and Alcinder sighed.

Maybe he read too much into things about her once again. This dumb girl doesn’t even know the basics about parties.

Though he would agree that the man was indeed dangerous, any human is bound to feel pressured when met with such force. Even he, as a strong vampire, knew not to step ahead and mess up what that vampire was doing.

There was no doubt that he would’ve stepped ahead if that mysterious vampire would’ve tried to hurt Elliana, but the man was quite gentle for the kind of aura he was executing.

And did he come here just for that? The first dance? Or was it the first dance with the girl singing? Everything was confusing, and Alcinder took a deep breath.

Maybe he should stop suspecting this girl too much. It’s probably her charm that attracts every one toward her.

"Anyway, let’s not ruin our moods anymore. The voting will start again," Samantha reminded them, but Elliana’s gaze kept shifting to the exit from where Mr. Marino left earlier.

What was that all about? Was there really no meaning behind this? Was it just a mere coincidence? She sighed before turning to her left, where her gaze met Madeline’s hatred-filled eyes.

"Sure. Let’s see," Elliana smiled, letting Madeline know that she won’t give in to her tricks anymore.

As she was looking at Madeline, her gaze met Aditya, who was looking at her expectantly.

’It was the council’s head’s son who told us to do that. Who else has the power to give someone a role in the council chambers?’

Elliana remembered what that boy said, and she tore her gaze, her heart prickling with the familiar pain of betrayal.

She turned around, bumping into Alcinder’s chest.

"Are you okay?" Alcinder asked, narrowing his eyes when he noticed her eyes brimming with tears.

"I... Am fine," Elliana said and held her skirt to move with ease as she walked outside the hall.

Alcinder followed her movements with his gaze before looking at Samantha, who held his hand.

"Shall we dance too?" She blinked at him, and Alcinder hummed.

"Let’s dance," Alcinder held her hand and pulled her to the middle of the hall.

Soon everyone followed suit, and Daniel looked toward the exit where Elliana had left.

He was really hoping to have a good dance with Elliana. But it’s not her fault that things turned out to be like this.

He sighed and walked outside.

"You must’ve been startled earlier," Daniel whispered to the girl who was leaning on the railings, and she hummed.

"I indeed was," Elliana whispered, looking at her hands that were in Mr. Marino’s hands a few minutes ago.

"I am sorry. You wanted to be my first dance, no?" Elliana asked, and Daniel smiled a bit too forcefully.

"I won’t lie and say it’s alright. I was really pissed at the man who took away the opportunity from me. And if it hadn’t been for Alcinder, who held my hand, I would’ve caused a ruckus for sure," Daniel chuckled, and Elliana smiled.

"You wouldn’t have been able to do anything to him," Elliana whispered.

"Hmm?" Daniel asked, confused.

"Hmm?"

"What did you say?" Daniel asked.

"I said you wouldn’t have been able to do anything because this is a school event," Elliana specified, and Daniel scratched the back of his head.

"You are right. I don’t want more demerits on my record," he said and noticed Elliana wasn’t looking at him anymore but to a distant building at nothing in particular.

She was just a human, but for some reason, she always appeared way out of his league. Daniel never understood what kind of feeling this was, but today when someone else took her first dance, it looked like it was a message from the god that this girl couldn’t belong to him.

Someone even more powerful deserves her. If it had been anyone else, he would’ve protected her from any Mysterious man.

Thus, the only thing left here was becoming strong enough to be able to protect her.

"If you don’t like it here, we can leave somewhere else," Daniel said, and Elliana turned to him.

"I get easily bored with things. If not salsa, will you still dance with me?" Elliana asked, and Daniel raised his brows.

He thought that she was sad about something, but she was just bored. Why does she have such weird ways of presenting her emotions?

"Let’s go," Daniel smiled excitedly and held her hand before pulling her inside.

As they entered the hall and stood in the middle of the dance floor, he looked at Arohi.

"What kind of classic songs are you playing? Enough with this boring dance. Let’s dance something fun," Daniel said, smiling at Elliana, who grinned from ear to ear.

"Girl, your votes are increasing at a tremendous rate," Melody said, and Elliana looked at her with a proud smile.

"Let’s increase them even more," Elliana smirked.

As soon as the song changed, she stepped ahead and placed both of her hands on Daniel’s shoulders, letting him place his hand on her waist as she swayed along with the beats.

She turned her body and performed a few steps while walking ahead. She swayed her hips like she was belly dancing before dropping her waist into taps at the beats.

She raised her hand in the air and flailed her hair open, taking off the clips from her hair as she let them flow down her back, making her hair move as she turned around and held Daniel’s hand in between.

"It’s okay if I can’t be your first dance. I am happy like this too," Daniel said when Elliana pushed him to his shock before pulling him towards herself like a man does to a woman, and he didn’t know whether to feel offended or plain amused.

"Man, she is on fire. Look how happy she is, dancing like this," Daniel said when she left his hand and went back to dancing, and Alcinder looked at his friend weirdly.

She is on fire but without you. What are you getting so excited about? Alcinder wanted to ask him, but seeing her enjoying the dance so much, there was no doubt she was on fire.

Everyone started copying her and started dancing solo with whatever steps they could form. It turned from a school event dancing hall to more like a club, and Arohi didn’t leave a second to turn the lights to the aesthetic ones.

Meanwhile, Madeline, who had everything planned, smirked in the corner.

"Dance, my sweet sister. After what I have planned, you won’t be able to walk, let alone dance," Madeline said before she walked to the other side, a bit away from the crowd, and made the calls.

Elliana was about to dance more when the phone rang with an incoming call. She looked at her phone and immediately recognized the number.

She switched off her phone and placed it back inside her clutch.

Why was Marcello calling her at this time of the day? Didn’t they have a proper chat just a couple of days ago? What could be so important? Elliana walked to the middle of the hall, and since it was time to announce the new campus belle of the first year, everyone stopped dancing.

"Well, no one expected this kind of change, but after today, I am not surprised," The previous campus belle, who arrived as someone’s partner, smiled and looked at the card in her hands.

"I had full hopes that she would be the campus belle, but it looks like someone even more enchanting and talented has appeared. Congratulations to Miss Elliana H!" The girl announced, and the light shone on where Elliana was standing.

However, as soon as the lights focused on her, everyone heard a weird crackling sound.

Elliana, who was still busy thinking about Marcello, narrowed her eyes and looked up at the last second.

However, it was too late now.

"Elliana!" Daniel shouted in horror when he noticed what was happening.
