Chapter 577: He knew something

Elliana looked out of the window before raising her hand and looking at it with a sigh.

So her ninth lock was also undone. She closed her eyes and looked at her powers that looked more refined than ever.

’How are you feeling?’ Elliana asked them and they smiled.

’Just great. It’s ecstatic. We can’t wait to use our powers and see what we can do now and how far we can push our limits,’ Circe answered honestly.

Elliana hummed.

’In that case, are we ready for the thing that Arizona suggested? The thing to bring back our father? Or would I die?’ Elliana asked, feeling down for some unknown reason that she didn’t get a dose of her happy pill and didn’t even know where he was.

’We won’t die, Elliana. Even if we have to sacrifice ourselves to protect you and keep you alive, we will do it. We will send you to a different dimension before anything would even come into a harming distance,’ Circe said and Elliana smiled.

’You talk like you are not a part of me,’ Elliana said and Circe sighed.

Elliana was about to ask Circe if they wanted to test the powers and if she should go to some forest when she heard a knock on the door.

Was it Mom Ruth again? She had indeed said that she would go down to have breakfast but in her worry to find Mr. Marino, she forgot about it completely.

"Come in," Elliana whispered, her brows quirking when she noticed it was Prince Vincenzo rather than Mom Ruth.

"How are you feeling now, Glow?" Vincenzo walked forward, holding her hands.

"I am feeling much better," Elliana smiled softly at the genuine concern in his eyes.

Prince Vincenzo nodded, looking away from her gaze.

It was clear he was here to talk about something but was delaying the topic since he didn’t know how to approach it.

"What is it?" Elliana asked.

"It’s just when Sebastian appeared back with your wounded self in his arms, I was really worried. I don’t want to lose a good friend," Vincenzo sighed as if saying those words were difficult.

She understood where he was coming from. After all, she wasn’t the most reliable friend of his. She left him before for an entire year without any news.

"Don’t worry. You aren’t getting rid of me so soon," Elliana grinned to ease the tension in the air and Vincenzo hummed before he looked at the corner of the room where her winning trophy was.

"By the way, have you heard from your husband? He is planning on imprisoning Prince Angelo under some trick. Prince Stephano is in favor too," Vincenzo said and Elliana was surprised by the fact.

"Is that so? When is that happening? I hope it’s after the birthday celebration. I don’t want the special day to get ruined. Happiness doesn’t come knocking at our doors daily. We already have a shortage of occasions to celebrate," Elliana pressed her lips into a thin line.

Vincenzo hummed.

"Honestly speaking, I know it’s a bit selfish and unrealistic of me to say something like that, but even after knowing what Angelo did, I don’t want him to be imprisoned. If his sins turned out grave, he might be sentenced to death too," Vincenzo said.

Elliana turned around, facing the balcony again.

"I know what you are feeling, Vincenzo. However, sometimes we have to choose what’s right over our kinship and feelings. This time it was us, what if next time it’s Mom Ruth, or Freya? A man who doesn’t think about his immediate family and the life of thousands of his own won’t hesitate to do such a thing again," Elliana said before she looked at Vincenzo, who was visibly displeased by her answer.

"You might hate me for what I am saying because you want comfort and not facts, but I hope you know that I feel sympathy for him. There is no doubt about that, and maybe the death sentence would be too much for him-" Elliana stepped forward and held Vincenzo’s hand.

"But think about those people who died because of him. The rogue vampires are not born. They are created. They are created by infusing that mutation chemical in the blood of normal vampires to make them like that," She asked him, making the man look away.

However, she didn’t leave his hand.

"How many vampires lost their lives because of that? We killed more than 1000 rogue vampires in the last battle. We ruined 1000 families. If we start thinking about it, will we ever be able to ask for forgiveness from their immediate family? It’s all messed up," Elliana said, feeling sad about it too.

Vincenzo sighed.

"I know, Glow. I know that everything you are saying is true but what should I do with my heart? It’s almost like you love Sebastian even when you know he is a monster and drank his own species’ blood," Vincenzo said, but Elliana only smiled.

She didn’t rebuke his words this time. She could say that Mr. Marino never drank any innocent’s blood or that she knew of. Or probably tell him that he treated her the best in the world despite being the monster that the world calls him.

However, she didn’t say anything because she knew even if she knew Mr. Marino was the real culprit and monster, she would’ve still fallen for him.

Vincenzo took a deep breath and sighed.

Elliana was right. There was no use talking about it. It was a sin that his brother committed against his own family. Now there was no stopping what he had coming for him.

He tried to put his gaze on one thing that was completely unforgivable, and it wasn’t Sebastian’s life or the throne. It was this woman in front of him that was the beast’s obsession.

"You were awesome at the battle. Sebastian asked Nathaniel to provide us with a clip of the battle if he could arrange it. The entire family saw your battle and we are proud of you," Vincenzo grabbed the trophy in his hand, changing the topic to keep the mood light, and Elliana, who was thankful for it, smiled.

"I know," She said before remembering something.

"Wait. Nathaniel was here? When did he come? Was it long ago? Was my mom here too? Did they say anything about my powers or something related?" Elliana asked.

Vincenzo looked away.

Elliana’s gaze immediately turned alert when she recognized the hesitancy in Vincenzo’s eyes.

Vincenzo had been trying to avoid her gaze most of the time when she was stating facts earlier, but something about this time didn’t feel right. It was almost as if he knew about what was going on around her but didn’t want her to know.

It was as if...

"You know where Mr. Marino is, right?" Elliana asked, her eyes becoming stern as she looked at Vincenzo.

"I don’t know where he is. I don’t know what you are talking about. He is your husband. Shouldn’t you know about it? And if you don’t, then ask his subordinates. Why are you asking me?" Vincenzo immediately said.

"Why are you becoming so defensive if you don’t know?" Elliana quirked her brows.

"Well, it’s because you keep talking about him all the time. Don’t you miss our friendship at all? It’s always about him. Huh... Why did I even bother to come here? It was a mistake. Rather than improving my mood, it ruined it even more," Vincenzo said.

Elliana looked at him carefully.

"Vincenzo, take my advice," Elliana paused.

"What? What advice?" Vincenzo asked her.

"You are not a very good liar. Especially in front of me, you are not. So don’t try," Elliana said.

Vincenzo - (=_=)

"Of course, who am I trying to fool, the queen of lying? You win this trait, no? Isn’t this exactly how you kept your identity hidden all the time we used to meet? Wasn’t this how you kept your vampire team, your wolf team, and your dealings with the black market hidden too? You are a professional at that," Vincenzo said.

Elliana didn’t say anything.

She just stood there, looking straight into Vincenzo’s eyes, letting the man finish what he had to say.

Once he was done talking and praising her lying skills, she took a deep breath before she raised her hand and suddenly a golden rope appeared out of nowhere, tying Vincenzo and throwing him on the ground.

Vincenzo’s eyes widened.

What the hell just happened?

It took him a few seconds to come to reality and understand what was going on.

"Elliana! Have you lost your mind?! Open these ropes. Why are these so strong?" Vincenzo shouted and Elliana smiled as she walked in front of him before crouching down on her feet as she looked at him.

"Who asked you to mess with the girl who was wondering if she should test her powers after the 9th unlocking? Mr. Marino is the only person my magic doesn’t work on and works at the same time. Have you forgotten I was a witch?" Elliana grinned.

"Elliana, I swear you are going to pay for this," Vincenzo gritted his teeth as he looked at the girl, still flailing his legs to get himself free and Elliana smiled.

"Hmm, okay. I might, but for that, you have to come out of these ropes, no? And it’s only going to happen if you tell me the truth. What’s going on? Where is Mr. Marino?" Elliana asked.

Vincenzo clenched his jaws.

"Well, I wasn’t supposed to say a word about it, but I eavesdrop on their conversation and -"
