Chapter 575: The 9th lock
"Are you okay?" Sebastian immediately pulled Elliana in her arms as soon as she let go of the dragon which dissipated into thin air while Caesar was taken to the emergency room.
Once the dragon came into Elliana’s control, it naturally took her side and considered Caesar as its enemy even when it was his father’s creation.
Due to this fact, the dragon ended up attacking Caesar.
Caesar, who wasn’t prepared for this attack because he hadn’t thought it would happen, would’ve been beaten to death if Elliana hadn’t stood in front of him to protect him from the dragon.
However, even after that Caesar suffered some major injuries and was immediately rushed to the witch’s hospital to get his wounds treated.
"I will be fine. Just a bit tired," Elliana said, hiding the mark on her wrist that keeps on appearing again and again.
"Let’s go to the palace. Have a good sleep, okay?" Sebastian asked, and Elliana turned to look at the dean.
"My trophy," She said.
The dean snapped out of his thoughts before nodding.
Arthur stepped forward to give the trophy to Elliana, who took it readily, making everyone clap in appreciation and recognition of the girl.
Sebastian forced his smile as he looked at his wife glowing so beautifully while taking the trophy from the white witch’s hand.
It looked like his injuries were starting to harm his body internally. And why not? The bullets were laced with silver coating. It was probably hurting his blood vessels deep inside.
Pluto, who looked at the man’s smile faltering, sighed.
"King Sebastian, I think you should get treated now. If not, then your wounds will only-" Pluto didn’t even complete his sentence when Elliana walked to them.
She raised her gaze and looked straight into his eyes.
"What wounds?" Elliana looked at Pluto, and Sebastian glared at the man.
"What do you mean what wounds? King Sebastian here is wounded and has two bullet wounds on his body along with some minor injuries that -" Pluto stopped talking when Elliana immediately turned to her husband with a concerned look.
"What am I hearing, Mr. Marino? You have bullet wounds? What are you doing here if that’s the case? Why didn’t you say anything about it earlier?" She asked, placing her hand on his biceps.
She closed her eyes to sense the bullets in his body before she pushed her magna into his body to pull them out.
"I didn’t want to worry you," Sebastian whispered softly, and Elliana pressed her lips into a thin line.
A pout appeared on her lips as she glared at her husband.
"You didn’t want to worry me? Will you be okay if I start hiding my pain from you too?" Elliana asked, her concerned face, making the man smile at his woman before he pulled her close and kissed her forehead.
"I will be fine now that you have taken out my bullets. The wounds will heal itself, My love. Don’t -"
"And to say you even carried me into your arms as if nothing was wrong. You must’ve been in so much pain," Elliana looked down at her feet, feeling guilty.
"How could I not when you were suffering more than me? Haven’t I told you that my love for you knows no bounds or ends? If I have to erase myself just to keep you going -" Sebastian paused when he looked into Elliana’s raging eyes that said if he ever said anything off, she wouldn’t let it go.
"-them I won’t give my life away. Because I want to live with you. Not away from you," Sebastian said, and Elliana hummed.
Pluto, who was looking at the girl, who was probably the only witch whose magic worked on Sebastian because of the mark they shared, couldn’t help but wonder about one thing.
"Now that I think about it, your energies were provoked so many times, Elliana. Shouldn’t your powers have made you more sensitive? Then how come you couldn’t feel King Sebastian’s wounds? That he was bleeding and was in so much pain?" Pluto asked, and Sebastian, who was holding Elliana’s hand because she was still helping him heal faster, looked at his wife, who averted her gaze.
Sebastian could immediately feel something was wrong.
"Princess, Pluto is asking something. Why couldn’t you smell my blood?" Sebastian gripped Elliana’s chin, forcing her to look into his eyes.
"It was because I was so focused on this battle that I didn’t let my environment affect me. You know how a witch’s concentration works and -" Elliana couldn’t complete her sentence as Sebastian interrupted her.
"- and I would’ve believed it easily if it had been any other witch in your place. I know my wife very well. She is not like others. Because I know she loves me the most in the entire world and can feel and sense my pain easily. Now tell me what’s exactly wrong with you, princess," Sebastian looked at her earnestly, and she bit her lower lip.
"My... My mark is appearing again and again," Elliana’s voice was barely audible, but Sebastian heard her pretty clearly.
"The siren one?" He asked, but Elliana shook her head.
"It’s not the siren one. I think it’s related to the locks," Elliana said, looking at her feet.
"Actually, it has been like this since earlier. The mark kept appearing throughout the battle, and I tried my best to keep it away so I could complete this fight properly without ending it in the middle," Elliana said, and Pluto sighed when he saw that her wrist was starting to glow again.
It made sense to him. Though Elliana’s powers would’ve become sensitive because of all the provoking done by the attacks, the sensitivity decreased gradually because Elliana forced her body to not feel anything through her Magna, and maybe that’s how she was able to smile even after all those wounds and bleeding.
"Take me somewhere peaceful," Elliana held Sebastian’s hand, who looked at his wife, knowing all too well that it was coming again and it was becoming unavoidable for her.
"Will you be able to handle it?" Sebastian asked.
"Will you hold my hand?" Elliana asked and the man smiled at her.
"Till my last breath," he whispered before looking at Pluto, who nodded at him and sent them to a place in the middle of the red forest where he was sure no one would be there to disturb the process of Elliana’s 9th lock unlocking.
~~~~~~~~
"Is she sleeping?"
Sebastian looked at the girl on the bed, who fell unconscious in his arms as soon as her 9th lock was undone. Azura had warned him about this earlier and thus, he wasn’t shocked.
The locket of the Magna that Azura had given to Elliana broke since she used all the Magna to feel less pain.
Though Elliana kept telling him that the magna was helping her a lot or that she wasn’t in pain, he knew it was painful for her.
"Hmm," Sebastian said as he looked out of the window, checking how the security was working.
"When will she wake up?" Ruth asked again and Sebastian sighed.
"She needs rest. Her 9th lock has come undone. I don’t know how long she would stay unconscious. I will ask someone to call you as soon as she wakes up. Let her be. She should gain consciousness after recuperating properly," Sebastian said and Ruth pressed her lips into a thin line.
"So, did you talk to her?" Ruth asked, walking to him.
"About what?" Sebastian closed his phone and pushed it into his pocket.
"What do you mean about what? Don’t you plan on making her your official wife again and give her the rightful crown that she deserves?" Ruth asked.
Sebastian looked at the girl who was sleeping peacefully and sighed.
"Of course, I want all of that to happen. However, things are not in our favor at the moment. Maybe after -"
"Things will never be in your favor," Ruth said, interrupting Sebastian.
"What do you mean?" Sebastian furrowed his brows.
"The literal meaning, Sebastian. You are not a prince who is fighting for the throne anymore. You are a King. Things will keep piling up like this. Your life won’t ever be easy. Human rogues, vampire rogues, official matters, disputes with one species or another, things will keep going on," Ruth placed her hand on Sebastian’s shoulders, making the man turn to the woman.
"You will have to find your happiness amidst this only. You guys should tie the knot soon. It would look good if the queen’s seat wasn’t empty since you have your queen by your side already," she said before looking at the girl one last time.
"I will take my leave then," She whispered before leaving the room.
Sebastian looked at his wife before pulling out the paper from his coat’s pocket.
"If you want your wife’s father to be free. I can help you. You don’t think I will let Arizona do as she pleases, right? Meet me tomorrow," The note said with the time and place written at the bottom.
There was no doubt that this note was sent by Azrael and he sighed.
