Chapter 546: A mark or a tracker?
"Sebastian, calm down. She will be alright," Prince Stephano said hesitantly, stopping when his youngest brother glared at them.
"Calm down? Do you think it’s so easy to calm down? She fainted in my arms, and I couldn’t do anything about it," Sebastian snarled before shifting his gaze towards his grandmother.
"You said it was supposed to be for a few minutes only. Why the f*ck isn’t she waking up? It’s been 2 hours already. Are you guys messing with me?" Sebastian raised his voice.
Lucas, who didn’t know what transpired, walked inside the royal palace, nodding at everyone.
"Sir, the dungeons are taken care of. I wanted to ask you -" Lucas stopped speaking when he looked into his King’s red blazing eyes.
He took a moment to pause and looked at all the family members who were gathered around the hall.
Why did it feel like he walked into a Lion’s den? Lucas gulped
Meanwhile, Elliana who had fainted earlier, scrunched her brows slightly, tears brimming her eyes at the sharp pain that shot in her neck, traveling into her entire body.
"Mr. Marino," Elliana whispered, remembering the events before she passed out.
When no one answered her, she looked around, the familiar room making her sigh.
He brought her to the royal palace?
Elliana wore the slippers before tightening the rope of the nightdress she was wearing.
He probably changed it for her when she was unconscious.
Heat crept up her neck, at the thought of him touching her, and she opened the door softly.
"I can’t f*cking keep calm! What the hell are you guys doing?! Call the doctor or I swear-" Mr. Marino’s loud voice echoed in the entire royal palace.
Elliana raised her brows, deja vu hitting her.
Wasn’t this exactly how he had reacted when he thought she was wounded terribly and that was why the bleeding wasn’t stopping when it was just her periods? Elliana smiled at the vague memory before she walked to the stairs, looking at the man who was probably losing his mind with a sigh.
She looked at the broken vases in the hall and amusement danced in her eyes.
"Sebastian, this is not the way to behave. I am your grandfather. How can you raise your voice at me?!" Abramo said, and Sebastian was about to retort when Elliana sighed again, a bit loud this time.
Sebastian’s body froze in its place. He heard her. He heard her heart beating.
Though it was very faint, it was a tune that he would hear in a crowded room because that beat belonged to the person he loved with his entire existence.
"What is this ruckus all about?" Elliana whispered, everyone’s attention snapping towards her.
Though her voice was soft and she was standing on the second floor, the vampires clearly heard her and they looked at the man behind everything, whose anger dissipated as if it was never there.
Sebastian didn’t waste a single second in using his vampire speed and picking her in his arms.
"Why are you here, my Cara? You need to rest," Sebastian took her back to the room.
The elder females looked at each other and shook their heads in complete bewilderment as they walked upstairs to ask Elliana about her health.
Sebastian laid her under the duvet and was about to speak when the ladies came inside the room, making him sigh.
He seriously can’t have a moment alone with his wife. If he had any idea about how this thing worked, he wouldn’t have brought her here.
Sebastian scowled and Elliana raised her hand before easing the crease between his eyebrows.
"Are you feeling okay, Elliana? What exactly happened? You weren’t supposed to stay unconscious for that long," Ruth asked without thinking twice before she realized what was wrong with her question when she looked at the girl’s rosy cheeks.
"Can everyone go out for some time? She needs rest and some time to come to terms with what happened," Sebastian said in his controlled voice.
Freya nodded at the maid who immediately brought a smoothie for the girl.
"Here, drink this, sweetheart. You will feel much better after this. You need more calories and energy right now or you will continue to feel weak," Freya whispered, and Elliana nodded before she sat with the help of Sebastian.
Everyone left the room one by one, and Sebastian sighed.
"How is she doing? Is she okay? Did she bleed too much?" Vincenzo was the first one to ask as soon as their mother walked back to the hall.
Out of courtesy to the girl, since they all knew and heard Sebastian marked her and what kind of process was needed for the marking, the males hadn’t gone to the room, respecting her privacy.
"She will be fine soon. It’s maybe because she was wounded and hurt recently because of the battle and was in her healing phase that her body took such a toll. She will be fine," Freya explained.
Vincenzo gritted his teeth.
"Did he really need to mark her at a time like this? What if something had happened to her? How could he do that?" Vincenzo raised his voice and the rest of the family coughed.
"Well, you see, it doesn’t happen until both of them want it with equal intensity," Freya coughed, and Vincenzo was about to speak again when his mother’s words registered in his mind, making him shut up immediately.
"Well, I... I will go and see how things are going with the rogues dealing team. Human rogues are still a problem. Brother Stephano," Vincenzo nodded at his brother, who looked at him and nodded.
"Yeah, I have to go too. Let’s grab a bite quickly and leave," Stephano said.
The family quickly dispersed, going back to their respective works now that their King had calmed down after his wife woke up.
Meanwhile, in the room, Sebastian looked at his wife with a sigh.
"Princess, I told you not to bite me, didn’t I? Do you have any idea how scared I was when you passed out suddenly? I knew this process would take a toll on your body, plus I wanted it to be special, not in some kind of forest," Sebastian brushed his knuckles on her cheeks.
Elliana smiled mischievously.
"I wanted it. I loved it," Elliana whispered, and Sebastian sighed.
There was no use talking about it anymore.
"Does it hurt a lot?" He asked, shifting his hand from her cheeks to her neck softly, and Elliana bit her lower lip before humming.
"It feels like something is still pinching my neck. You didn’t go easy on me, Mr. Marino," Elliana pouted slightly.
"I am sorry, baby. Since you are from a different species, it will take some time for your powers and body to fully accept it," Sebastian said, gulping a little when his gaze landed on her milky neck.
Her mark was still hidden in her dress, under the bandage but-
The events of the forest started to circulate in his head and he licked his bottom lip.
His eyes started to change colors and he quickly blinked them to hide his expression. However, Elliana, who was looking into his eyes, smiled at him, knowing what his beast wanted again.
"I want to rest," She said, and Sebastian immediately stood from his place.
"Of course, baby. You should rest. I will arrange for the release of the Sirens. Can you ask that siren queen where she would like her sirens to be released?" Sebastian asked and Elliana immediately remembered about them.
"I will make a call soon. You go and handle things," Elliana said before she remembered something.
"By the way, did Neil say something about the main laboratory where the rogue vampires are being produced? If not, I can ask Mom to help us with that. If there is even one rogue vampire whose body isn’t destroyed, she will be able to put the locator spell," Elliana said.
Sebastian hummed, liking the idea.
"I will tell you about it when I see things myself. Till then, stop worrying about those things and take care of yourself. You might feel weak again. Second Mother Freya will keep coming to check on you, okay?" Sebastian asked and Elliana nodded.
Sebastian bent and pecked her forehead before caressing her hair.
"You are the best gift I got from the moon goddess," Sebastian whispered before he flickered her nose, making her smile.
As soon as Sebastian left the room, Elliana’s smile vanished, and she sat in her place.
She placed her hand on her mark and closed her eyes, a smile appearing on her face.
As she had guessed, this mark would help her keep track of Mr. Marino, and if any witch would go close to him, she would be notified. Elliana sighed.
She knew this was a risky thing, and it wasn’t in her plans but when she started kissing Mr. Marino, this idea came to her head immediately, and she didn’t want to control herself anymore.
Elliana took a deep shaky breath and looked at the smoothie on the nightstand.
She took the glass in her hand, the white whipped cream on the top, making her remember the white haze she saw in her dream.
She wasn’t just dreaming. It was a warning. A warning from Azrael.
