Chapter 469: A faint whisper
"Princess," Sebastian whispered when Elliana hid her face in the bedsheets, not lifting it even to breathe.
"Don’t look at me. I am truly ashamed," Elliana whispered in her muffled voice, and Sebastian, who was feeling aroused, smiled on her back before hiding his face in the crook of her neck, inhaling her scent.
"Okay. We won’t mention it. Now lift your head and breathe," Sebastian sidened her hair before kissing her cheeks, making her lift her head so that she was facing away from him.
Sebastian sat on the side of the bed, looking down at the tent formed on his pants with a dejected sigh.
’Calm down, soldier. It’s not the right time,’ he thought to himself before he pulled out his phone and dialed Lucas’s number.
"We don’t need to go to the meeting anymore. My better half, my wife, brought all the information about the rogue camps we needed. Call Ambrose, we will be leaving soon," Sebastian said proudly before he ended the call when he saw her shifting to her side of the bed.
"Can I ask you something, princess?" Sebastian asked, sitting beside her before he took her foot and placed them on his lap as she leaned on the headboard.
"Hmm, what is it?" Elliana asked, distracted by his fingers that were playing with her toes, the red on her cheeks still visibly there.
"Are you... Is there something that is troubling you these days? Anything or anyone bothering you?" Sebastian asked, referring to how Garry said the princess had tears in her eyes when he saw her.
Elliana looked at the man with quirked brows.
"Why would you ask that, Mr. Marino?" She asked, masking her emotions immediately that didn’t go unnoticed by Sebastian who was observing her.
"No reason. I just felt like it," he stood from his place and kissed her forehead.
"No matter what happens in the future or how busy I become after getting the throne, or before it, just know that I am always here for you. Do you understand?" Sebastian asked, and Elliana nodded softly.
"You can always come to me for any kind of help, suggestion, or whatever you need. I will never be busy when it comes to you. In fact, I would be really happy if you included me in everything related to you. So if someone is troubling you, please let me know. I will take care of it, okay?" Sebastian asked again just to ensure she understood that she could rely on him.
"I understand, Mr. Marino. I have the strongest man as my husband. Why would I care or worry about anything?" She asked, and Sebastian smiled before massaging her cheeks with his thumb.
"I will take this file and submit it to my grandfather now. Be good and have a good sleep after having dinner, okay?" Sebastian asked, and Elliana watched the man leave with a sigh.
She stood from her place and walked to the balcony to see her husband leaving and once she ensured his car left, she turned around, ready to do what she was intending to do.
She sighed and once she ensured she was clean, Elliana opened the Ancient book in the middle of the carpet, standing beside her as she faced her palm towards the book.
"kompatibel" Elliana whispered, closing her eyes and letting the energy inside her swirl freely inside the room and around the ancient book to find a compatible spell for her to try at her level of energy at the moment keeping her emotions and everything in check.
"Elliana,"
She heard a faint whisper as if someone was calling her. The voice was full of pain and helplessness, the kind of pain that makes you pity the person and do everything for them.
Elliana scrunched her brows, trying to concentrate on her powers when she heard the same voice again.
"H-h... ich bin hier," the voice whispered and her powers subconsciously picked on the voice, making her want to see who it was.
"Folgen," Elliana whispered, controlled by her subconscious mind to feel the voice and the direction it was going in.
"I don’t think it’s the best decision,"
Elliana heard a voice and she opened her eyes, snapping out of her subconscious state when her energies felt a light suppression.
For a couple of seconds, Elliana kept standing here, unsure of what exactly she was doing before her gaze met with Yaretzi, and her expression immediately turned neutral.
"Yaretzi? What brings you here? It’s been a long time since I last saw you," Elliana looked at the ancient book and gently closed it, making the witch smile as she saw the girl in front of her masking her emotions.
"I wouldn’t have been able to read the book even if you hadn’t closed the book. These ancient dark witches’ books are sacred to the light witches, and thus, we can’t see anything inside," Yaretzi leaned on the balcony door, explaining things as if that was going to make a difference.
Elliana looked at the witch before sitting on the bed, saying nothing at all.
She remembered the last time the witch was here was when she had almost thrown her out of the room and got her caught.
"Are you not going to say anything?" Yaretzi asked.
"Is it about the last time? Was it because of what happened that you didn’t show up for so long?" Elliana asked.
"It’s nothing like that. I just went away to replenish my energies in the Magna River. Every witch goes there annually to restore their powers. I came directly from there," Yaretzi said.
Elliana quirked her brows before humming to herself.
She wanted to ask more about this river that Yaretzi mentioned, but for some reason, the idea of trusting any witch other than Nathaniel didn’t sound pleasing to her anymore.
Besides, who knows if Yaretzi wanted to use her or sacrifice her too? She might be a good white witch, but that’s what she had thought about Azura too, until it was revealed she wanted to kill her.
"Why are you here telling me all this? You must have had a clan to return to. I don’t believe that you are here, risking your identity and life in the vampire Kingdom just because you wanted to stroll around," Elliana said in a polite tone to not sound too harsh.
Yaretzi smiled.
"What have they turned you into? You used to be so believing and happy-hearted, and now you can only think of something bad whenever someone approaches you, no?" Yaretzi asked.
Elliana didn’t say anything to that. According to her, if Yaretzi didn’t really have anything to tell her, she was just wasting her time and -
"Don’t break up with Sebastian," Yaretzi said, catching Elliana’s attention.
"What is that supposed to refer to?" Elliana asked and Yaretzi sighed.
"I know you don’t believe me, and if it had been anyone else in your place they wouldn’t even be talking to any witch, but I just came to tell you something that others might not have," Yaretzi said, walking ahead and sitting on the couch in front of Elliana.
"In the coming time, you will be seeing something bad. It will tear your heart and you will think of breaking every relation. I just heard a few things here and there, and I wanted to give you a heads-up.
You are also going to reveal you are a dark witch to him and things might turn even more sore, but I just hope you know he is the only man who can save you from the darkness that is approaching you," Yaretzi whispered.
Elliana kept looking at the witch, hoping she would add anything more, but when she didn’t Elliana’s brows furrowed.
"You do realize that what you are saying doesn’t make sense, right? What trouble? What did you hear?" Elliana said and Yaretzi hummed.
She was about to speak again when she looked at the balcony, making Elliana do the same.
In front of her standing was none other than Leila.
"You -" Elliana turned towards the couch, her pupils dilating when she noticed no one was there.
It was obvious Yaretzi left as soon as she felt Leila’s presence and Elliana became alert.
She looked at the witch who had tried to add bitterness to her life earlier too with her eyes dropped and full of caution.
"What are you doing here? Are you here to check up on me and wonder how I am still alive? Or are you here to challenge me, warn me about something too?" Elliana asked, her hips aching from all the frustration and stress stored inside her body that needed a terrible rest and release.
After completing her exams that were a nuisance, getting a visit from two witches for God knows what was the last thing on her mind.
"Leave Sebastian," Leila said, and Elliana’s brows quirked before she laughed.
She let out a deep throaty laugh, looking at the witch in front of her with amusement.
One witch came to her to tell her not to leave Sebastian and the other witch was here to tell her to leave him.
What kind of joke was it?
They were talking as if things were really in her hands.
"And why should I do that again? He is my rightful husband and -"
"If you want to see him alive, free of all the worries and away from the darkness that is coming for you, and actually care about him, you should leave him," Leila said.
Elliana’s expression immediately sombered. It was ironic.
Both the witches wanted to warn her of different things, but one thing they said was indeed common.
Darkness coming for you.
"And do we have a name for this darkness?" Elliana asked, quirking her brows, not really expecting an answer.
However, what Leila said next, made her raise her brows and look at the witch in a new light.
"Your death,"
