Chapter 448: Bits of truth
"You know I won’t do anything that will come between you and me. There is no way I would kill her and have those humans take you away from me, right?" Sebastian said, and Elliana hummed.
Right. Wasn’t he also the one who stopped her from killing her earlier? Why would he kill Madeline? It was stupid of her to think so.
"Who could’ve done that?" Elliana asked, and Sebastian looked at the girl in front of him, unsure.
What he saw today wasn’t normal. Those anger-filled eyes, that kind of rage when she had held that stick in her hand to kill Madeline. Not to mention, didn’t she disappear and talk about a rabbit’s death too? It was probably the first time she acted like that.
Then again, how will she teleport herself so soon? She was just a mere human.
Sebastian shook his head, his gaze flickering to the girl, who was already looking at him.
Her expression told him she wanted to say something to him, or probably confess something. And for some reason, it didn’t look anything good.
"Mr. Marino, I told you I will tell you the truth after twenty-one days, right?" Elliana asked, and Sebastian hummed.
"Rather than telling you the entire truth, I would like to tell you the truth in small portions. Let’s start with my identity," Elliana turned around and was about to leave the bed because she wasn’t sure how he was going to take it, but he held her hand and pulled her close so that she was almost lying in his arms.
"Stay with me," Sebastian said, snuggling his nose in her neck to keep himself calm and distracted if it was something grave.
"I... I am not the girl who was supposed to be the hunter bloodline king’s illegitimate daughter," Elliana barely whispered, but her voice was loud enough for Sebastian to hear.
His brows furrowed. What Elliana was saying didn’t make any sense to him.
"What do you mean?" Sebastian asked, grabbing her jaws as he forced her to look into his eyes.
"I am not King James’s true bastard child," Elliana whispered again.
"If not her, then who are you?" Sebastian asked, his gaze neutral, and Elliana sighed before pushing his hand away and sitting straight, tears welling her eyes.
"I am not sure if I am anything anymore. I recently found out the truth. A messenger told me about it with proof. Since then, I have been second-guessing my entire life. All the things I suffered and kept up with, all the torture and hateful vile words, I heard, everything seems pointless. My life sounds pointless," Elliana whispered, thinking about how Nathaniel revealed the truth to her and a tear rolled down her cheeks.
Sebastian looked at the girl, who clearly was finding it hard to speak about such a sensitive matter, and pushed her back on the bed gently so she was lying on her back while he hovered over her.
"You can choose to stay silent or not share anything with me at all. No matter what you say or who you are, it won’t change my feelings for you," Sebastian whispered before kissing her forehead.
Elliana looked into his eyes which held nothing but affection for her and more tears welled in her eyes.
"You shouldn’t be so good for me. I don’t deserve it. I am not the girl you would want to be. I don’t deserve your love," Elliana whispered, ashamed.
She was betraying him. With every second of love and affection she was taking from him under the pretense of being a human, she was betraying him.
She couldn’t even fathom how broken he would feel, how betrayed he would feel the day he would be crowned and know the truth about her identity.
Her lips whimpered as a sob left her mouth and Sebastian’s gaze immediately softened.
"Hey, hey, hey, what is the need to cry in that matter, my Cara?" Sebastian cupped her cheeks softly.
"I... I am sorry. I am sorry for not being her. You... You deserve so much and I...," Elliana cried, feeling her throat being choked with her own emotions.
"You are just enough, my Cara. Even if angels come down on earth, I would still choose you over them. Do you know why? Because I haven’t met a prettier and more lovely angel than you. There is no one like you. There might be thousands of better girls than you, baby, but you are the ONLY one for me. It’s either you or no one. So don’t ever say I deserve better because you make me better," Sebastian whispered to her, pulling her close.
Elliana sobbed in his arms, her face buried in his neck.
"What if your grandfather takes me and sends me away because now I am useless for the peace treaty?" Elliana hiccuped and Sebastian smiled at the girl who was worrying uselessly.
"My Cara, no one’s going to take you away from me? I will cut every hand that will reach you, pull out every tongue that will say bad words about you, my sweetheart. It doesn’t matter. I don’t give two damn about whether you are King Jame’s daughter or not. And once I become the king, there won’t be any problem at all," Sebastian whispered to her as he peppered her face with soft comforting kisses.
Sebastian sighed before lying beside her and pulling her into his arms so that her head was on his chest, her favorite place.
"I won’t leave you, Mr. Marino. Promise me you won’t leave me either. No matter what happens in the future, whoever comes between us, you won’t leave me. You have to promise me today," Elliana mumbled in his chest, and a low soft chuckle escaped his mouth.
He knew he shouldn’t be laughing when his wife was having a mental breakdown, but he couldn’t control it.
"My sweetheart, I don’t have any self-destruction wishes. The day I will separate from you, my soul will leave my body. Does that give you enough assurance? That I fucking can’t live without you anymore?" Sebastian asked, and Elliana hummed, rubbing her nose on his chest like the cute kitten she was.
Sebastian sighed and looked at his wife who was calming down slowly.
He sighed when he heard her soft breathing. She was slowly falling asleep.
Sebastian gently pulled out his phone and was about to call Vincenzo to get a deeper insight on the matter regarding the seashore, but before he could do that, he heard Elliana’s phone ringing, and he picked up the phone without looking at the caller ID.
"Elliana, can we meet, please? Madeleine is dead, and I don’t know who to turn to. Even five minutes would be more than enough. Please," Aditya’s words came through the phone.
Sebastian’s hands clenched and he looked at his princess before softly leaving the bed and walking to the balcony.
"And I don’t understand why you would want to see my wife because Madeleine is dead. Is she a witch who would bring back your fiance to life?" Sebastian asked.
Aditya, who was mourning the loss of Madeline immediately turned slightly sober and his tearful eyes hardened.
"Where is Elliana?" Aditya asked.
"She is -" Before Sebastian could answer he heard her soft moaning and smirked.
He walked to the bed and placed his finger in the middle of her chest, before running soft circles on the base of her neck.
"Mmmmm," Elliana moaned as she arched her back subconsciously.
"Can you hear?" Sebastian asked, and Aditya’s jaws clenched.
"I called her because Madeline was her sister too. It’s obvious she is sleeping. How can you act like that? You are truly a beast," Aditya raised his voice, and Sebastian hummed.
"And the beauty stays with the beast," He said before ending the call.
He looked at his princess, his gaze hard.
Why has his princess still not thrown this man out of her life if she isn’t related to the hunter’s bloodline? And didn’t this guy know his princess a bit too much to guess she was sleeping?
"Let me do this favor for you," Sebastian whispered in her ears before he blocked the number and placed the phone beside her side of the nightstand.
"You can’t be my mom. I am not your daughter," Elliana whispered in her sleep as a tear rolled down from the corner of her eyes, and Sebastian froze in his place.
This was the first time Elliana was whispering a sentence like this. She always speaks about finding her mom even in her sleep.
Could it be that she has found her true family? Sebastian wondered as he stood from his place after kissing her forehead.
"No one can take you away from me, Princess. Not even heaven or hell," Sebastian cooed in her ears before he sighed and left the room to attend the meeting.
