Chapter 378: Was she here or not?
ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.comMr. Stephano Marino.
Mr. Santo Marino.
Mrs. Victoria Campbell
Mr. Noah Marino.
The people started walking to the stage one by one, all executing the kind of aura that was making everyone bow to them.
"As expected. The royals never miss this state-level race," Dexter sighed and turned to Elliana, whose face was darker than before. He remembered how the royals had been troubling her these days.
Wait. If she was being wary of them, she wouldn’t want to be there in front of them, right?
This was his chance to persuade her not to participate.
"Elliana, if you don’t want to participate -"
"I will win this race," Elliana turned to the manager’s cabin, missing the view of her Mr. Marino walked to the stage to greet his brothers.
If it had been any other time, she might have stepped back but not today.
Since the chief guests were here too, the race started after some time and Dexter sat on his bike, looking at Elliana beside him.
He was worried about her today. Though she was making small talk and trying to joke around, he could see it in her eyes.
The same look, it was the same look she had when she had come to the racing arena for the first time, the time when he had started to have a crush on her because she was so awesome.
She was awesome because she didn’t fear death. That day, it looked like she wouldn’t have any regrets even if she fell down the steep paths of 1000s of ft high cliffs.
And today, she had the same look in her eyes.
"On your marks!" The man with the flare gun shouted, and Elliana placed her leg on the stand, her grip tightening around the accelerator and handle.
"Get set!" The man shouted.
The sounds of the bikes started reverberating, making the onlookers shout in excitement.
Vincenzo, who was looking at his phone, and looked at the bikes briefly, shook his head, looking back at his phone to see -
He paused. He looked up again, his brows knitting.
"Isn’t that the finance minister’s son?" He asked, and Victoria hummed.
"Haven’t you heard? That boy is basically out of control. Happens when your father keeps changing the mothers, and you don’t get good manners," Victoria scoffed.
"As if having one mother gives you good manners. He is just racing with other racers. What’s so big about it? At least he is not doing drugs or something.
I don’t get why you guys are always behind such kids without knowing their stories just because you got it all. When will you change your bothersome ways?" Stephano scoffed, and Victoria kept her mouth shut, not wanting to provoke her elder brother.
"Go!" The man shouted.
Elliana immediately accelerated with the rest of the bikers.
However, her speed was relatively low compared to others, and she was left behind, too behind. It almost looked like she wasn’t even in the mood to race.
Dexter looked at the girl with narrowed brows. He would’ve been worried if the girl had accelerated the bike to its fullest, but now that the girl was not accelerating, he was even more worried than ever.
This wasn’t a good sign.
Elliana tightened her grip on the accelerator, her eyes closing involuntarily as the words started coming back to her.
She focussed on the path for some time until she lost it again.
"All the racers are on fire. As expected of our all-time winner for these state races, Kevin has started taking over the bikes already. And what am I seeing? He is already taking first place in the race," the host started commenting on the race as they saw the live telecast on the screen from the drones and helicopters that were shooting the exclusive race.
Elliana blinked her eyes to blink back the tears that were starting to blur her vision.
"You are just like your mother who opens her legs when she sees someone powerful and rich,"
"If she wasn’t a whore, why isn’t she in the palace, and why are you illegitimate?"
"Why is only Madeline respected?"
"Do you think you are something?"
"Let me teach you a lesson you will remember for the rest of your life,"
"Your father never loved you,"
"You are nothing more than a curse on my life,"
"You are a shameless bitch who I used to get to protect my daughter. Do you think your father didn’t know about it all? Was he blind?"
"Your father always knew what was happening to you, but he stayed quiet. Why do you think so?"
"Because even for him, you were worthless. And look, we even made use of a worthless thing,"
"Your mother was nothing more than a slit for him that he fucked when he was drunk,"
The words her Stepmother said to her started echoing in her head.
Enough. She has had enough today. What happened today - she would be damned if she didn’t punish them.
Until today, it was all about how her Stepmother hated her, and she only wanted to stay away from them, but today, she wanted to avenge her pain and she will do it soon.
Elliana raised her bike in the air from the frontal side before accelerating even more.
"Damn it!" Elliana screamed inside her helmet.
Dexter, who was the only person close to her, heard her and sighed. He was right. She was too hurt today.
"It looks like Kevin will win the race today too. Even Raven, who was the second-prize winner last time and was neck to neck with Kevin is far behind this time. This looks like a clean race for Kevin. The competition looks between -
Oh, what am I seeing? Number 33 is taking over the bikes with the speed of light," the host said, catching everyone’s attention at the back of the race.
Everyone looked at the person with the number 33 speeding the bike insanely.
"It looks like the number 33 is hell-bent on moving forward. Oh, number 67 is also following suit. What is this? The race is turning interesting once again. And for some reason, the winner’s place isn’t even enticing anyone anymore. It’s these two. Are these two having a race of their own? Is it something related to a bet?" The host asked, making everyone more excited.
"Glory! Get a grip!" Dexter shouted, opening the flap of his helmet for a minute when he saw her meaning a swift turn.
The royals who knew who was wearing the number 67 narrowed their brows.
"Does he have a death wish?" Santo asked.
"The finance minister’s son?" Victoria asked.
"No. I am talking about number 33. Look at the narrow turn coming soon, and whoever this man is- is only increasing the speed of his bike even more," Santo said, and Vincenzo looked up from his phone.
He looked at the person covered from head to toe in black before sighing.
’Glory used to wear such clothes too,’ A random thought appeared in his mind, and he paused with a smile.
And the Glory he knows had a passion for bike racing too.
His body suddenly became alert. Don’t tell him the person on the racing track was Glory. But how is that possible? Elliana was Glory, and how could she be hereafter -
"Sebastian, where is your wife?" Vincenzo walked to him, and Sebastian looked at him before rolling his eyes.
"Stop being so intrigued and curious about my wife all the time. You do know it gets on my nerves, right?" Sebastian said in his dangerously low voice, and Vincenzo smiled bitterly.
"Just tell me if she is here or not," Vincenzo seethed through his lips.
"What is it, Vincenzo? Isn’t the answer obvious? If that girl had been here, Sebastian wouldn’t be standing here. He would have been there, guarding her like the loyal dog he is," Victoria looked at her youngest brother up and down.
Sebastian brought the phone away from his ears and looked at Victoria momentarily.
"Well, it’s better to act protective of your wife like a dog, rather than feeding her to the dogs, no? I mean, you must be familiar with what I am saying, elder sister Victoria," Sebastian turned to the other side, but before he could take a step, Vincenzo held his hand.
"I am serious, Sebastian. Is she here or not? This is about her life," Vincenzo said, and Sebastian quirked his brows.
"Well?" Vincenzo urged him more.
