The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride -
Chapter 310: A cunning explanation?
Chapter 310: A cunning explanation?
"How are you feeling, Princess?" Miss Zoya asked, genuinely concerned, and Elliana nodded at her with a mild smile.
"I am doing good. I hope I don’t bother," She whispered softly, and Miss Zoya raised her gaze to their Prince walking downstairs, and she gulped.
The prince was angry and even a bird could tell that.
Three hours ago, Miss Zoya was called into the guest room Princess was staying temporarily and asked to change the blood stained bedsheets while their prince stood with a passed-out princess in his arms, wrapped in a towel, in the corner of the room.
Later, the prince walked down and told them to replace the bathtub in the bathroom because he ended up breaking it and asked all the male guards to leave the palace and guard outside.
The only males allowed in the palace were, the chef because Princess only likes his hand-cooked food, Lucas and Ambrose, whose movements were limited to the seventh floor and terrace and then straight out. They weren’t even allowed to stop in the hall for any purpose.
She didn’t know what happened in that room, but ever since the prince came out, he had been scowling.
"Are you feeling good?" Sebastian asked Elliana, and the girl who woke up dressed in a towel alone in the bed nodded with a soft blush on her cheeks, and he grabbed her cheeks between his index finger and thumb before pulling them.
"Would you like to address what you did to me then?" Sebastian asked, and Elliana who thought he was talking about their activity in the bathroom where she pleased him, blushed even harder before turning around.
She wanted to hide a face and bury herself in the ground now. How could he call her out after they -
"Look how deep it is," Sebastian said, and Elliana turned around with narrowed brows, her gaze falling on his neck that he exposed by siding his collar.
She looked down with a cheeky smile. It was her mark on him.
Sebastian’s lips twitched, and he bit the inside of his cheeks to suppress his smiles.
"Are you sure you weren’t a vampire in your last life?" He murmured before evening his collar.
He grabbed her small hand before pulling her to the sofa of the main hall.
"I have a few questions to ask you, princess," Sebastian said to her before he looked at the caretaker who immediately nodded and left with the other workers.
Sebastian noticed Lucas going straight towards the stairs, probably to his office, and stopped him.
"Lucas, bring that thing here," Sebastian ordered.
The subordinate looked at the princess sitting on the sofa with a confused expression and didn’t know if it was a good time to do what the prince was thinking of doing.
"Well, sir," Lucas walked to them and pulled out the thing from his pocket, making Elliana’s gaze immediately darken which she quickly hid behind her innocent facade.
She looked at the bottle intrigued.
"Do you recognize this bottle?" Sebastian asked.
Elliana knew if the prince had gotten his hands on this bottle and asked her specifically, he probably knew the constituents inside it and there was no use hiding it. But of course, she wasn’t a fool to agree to it immediately.
Her brain cells started working as she nodded softly.
"Of course, I know. Isn’t this my spray? But the one I have is not so big. Did you get this for me?" Elliana took the bottle from Sebastian’s hands, and Lucas’s gaze froze on the princess.
Was she admitting that she had been using the scent-hiding spray? But then, it didn’t sound too weird to him. Maybe that is exactly how she had snuck out of the palace to save their prince that night.
He quickly masked his expression and cleared his throat before taking a few steps, maintaining his distance from her.
Lucas knew that she would just come with another set of lies, and while he knew she was doing it all for his prince, it still made him feel guilty.
"Do you know what’s inside it?" Sebastian asked, and Elliana nodded, surprising Lucas.
"It’s a Lavender perfume. Unique I must say. It was recommended, more like given to me by a prisoner named-" Elliana stopped, looking down at her feet.
"Have I ever told you I was once a prisoner of the most dangerous prison for the deadliest human criminals? The Malevolent Prison?" Elliana asked, and Sebastian hummed.
"I know," Sebastian noticed her every expression clearly.
"One of the prisoners there gifted me this perfume on my eighteenth birthday. Since I turned eighteen in the prison and didn’t have anyone from the family to come meet me, they, the other prisoners in my cell had celebrated my birthday.
There were three more things I received from them. But this perfume has been the closest to me. It has this unique lavender smell, and no matter how hard I try, I haven’t been able to make a similar one of it," Elliana said before she hugged Sebastian out of the blue.
"Thank you, Mr. Marino, for noticing such small things about me even when you are so busy all the time. I was indeed running low on it," Elliana said, and Sebastian felt rooted to his place, his gaze neutral.
It was a perfect story. There were no loopholes around it. Or were there that he couldn’t see?
She has always been obsessed with perfumes from what he has seen so far, and she indeed likes the smell of lavender and Jasmine scented things while her favorite scents differ to a wide range.
There was no reason why she wouldn’t like this scent, and why this gift wouldn’t be her favorite.
Moreover, he has never seen her buying the scent, she has been using the same bottle ever since she came so he can’t say that she has been buying illegally either.
She loved researching new things. Didn’t she ask him if he would give her his saliva for her to run some tests on it too? There was no doubt a girl like her would be infatuated with this strange composition too.
"So, I am guessing you don’t know anything about who sells them or where your friend got them from, right?" Sebastian asked, and Elliana smiled at him.
Well, was this the time when she could have her revenge on them for catching her off-guard?
"I don’t know the exact details, but she said that her brother buys it from someone named Marcello. He said that this man had all the things available. There is barely a thing that this man can’t arrange," Elliana blinked at him innocently, and Sebastian smiled.
"Marcello, hmm?" Sebastian looked at Lucas, who was still in shock that the princess shared the details with the prince just like that.
Why was he having such a hard time believing it? Maybe he was suspecting her too much after the last incident, but can you blame him? She wasn’t exactly the soft candy everyone thought she would be.
"So, umm, will you give it to me?" Elliana extended her hand like a happy kid asking their guardian for her favorite toy and Sebastian smirked.
"You can leave, Lucas. I still have something personal to discuss with the Princess," Sebastian said, and Lucas bowed before leaving immediately.
"Something personal -"
"Do you know that this perfume hides scent?" Sebastian asked, backing her into her seat, and Elliana gulped, his eyes looking like he already knew that she was well aware of it.
"If this hides my true scent, does that mean you don’t know what I really smell like?" Elliana widened her eyes in fake disbelief, and Sebastian chuckled.
"I know how you smell, princess. I am the one who washed you after you -" Elliana placed her hand on his lips to stop him from talking, and Sebastian’s eyes smiled with amusement and mischief.
"Behave and be a good girl and this bottle will be yours," Sebastian kissed her hand before he stood from his place and left her.
Elliana gulped, breathing a sigh of relief that she didn’t know she was holding.
"Do you believe her?" Lucas asked as soon as Sebastian entered the office, and the latter smiled inwardly.
"Of course not. I might be attracted to her, but I am not a fool. As true as her story is, there is definitely something she is hiding. But she said it so cunningly that I am not able to find that loophole," Sebastian said before turning to Lucas.
"About this Marcus guy, do we have no lead on him? The annual ball is in a week. I don’t want to meet him on the ball in front of everyone. Brother Stephano will get him first this way. We need to find a way to communicate with him sooner," Sebastian said, and Lucas nodded.
"I will send another search team, sir," Lucas said.
"You know what, this time, I want you to have the team use this illegal scent and go check the moon city. For some reason, Princess’s connection with the wolves and then her knowing about Marcello too, I doubt that -"
"She might be helping him?" Lucas asked, and Sebastian took a deep breath.
"I don’t know what to believe and not believe anymore. She keeps surprising me," Sebastian walked to the window and gazed thoughtfully.
