"I don’t know what you are talking about, Aditya. Did someone say anything about me?" Madeline asked, her eyes soft, giving her an innocent look, the same look that Aditya fell for every single time.

However, for some reason, this time he wanted to be Adamant, and though he didn’t have any proof against his fiancee or whether Elliana was speaking the truth or not, he wanted to take this chance.

"You see, Madeline, you know I am going to be the next council head, so it would look pitiful if you out of all the people in the world think I am dumb enough to raise an allegation without knowing anything about it.

Madeline was shocked. Though he has been cold in the past and sometimes atrociously neutral to her, this was the first time he indirectly called her fake or her demeanor a pretense.

She hadn’t expected it at all.

Her hands turned sweaty, and she looked at her mother, who was equally surprised and ready to take some answers.

Marla knew something was definitely wrong, or her daughter wouldn’t have been acting like she was caught doing something wrong, but even so, she didn’t want her daughter to be humiliated like this, especially in front of her father who was already in a sour mood these days after Elliana had to go in Madeline’s place.

"I am sure there is some kind of misunderstanding, Aditya. Anyway, why are we talking about these things over dinner? Let’s have our meal in peace," Marla tried to cover up.

Madeline heaved a breath of relief when Aditya didn’t pursue the matter. But that doesn’t mean she won’t have to formulate a lie to tell her mother too.

And though her mother saved her in front of her dad and fiance, it was her mother that Madeline needed to be most wary of.

"So, as I said, I will send the invitation to Elliana and her husband to visit us. Let’s see when he can take out time. I am telling you beforehand to make all the necessary arrangements.

Elliana is our daughter, but her husband is the youngest masked prince, and we all know, the most dangerous one too. I don’t want any complaints," James said, and Madeline scowled.

She didn’t understand why they needed to call that vampire or ugly human at the house.

"Well, that’s a great idea, honey. We should keep checking if the vampires are keeping our daughter with enough care," Marla said, and James hummed.

Madeline looked at her mother, a bit annoyed that she would act so happy about the vampire coming here.

Could it be that she was preparing something with the main royal family again?

It wasn’t hidden from Madeline that her mother conspired with the royal family and knew the secrets of all the attacks on the vampires and other rogue-related stuff that even her father didn’t know.

So maybe it was all because of that plan. Madeline nodded to herself, still sour about seeing that ugly girl’s face.

But it’s good in a way. That girl will come here, and the vampire will be busy with her father and other stuff, so she will have a good amount of time to show that bitch where she belongs.

The dinner ended, and James stood from his place, ready to go to his office to handle some documents that needed his urgent attention, when Aditya stood from his place and looked at Madeline, starting again.

"So, you still haven’t given me the answer. Mrs. Marla said I shouldn’t be disturbing the peace of the meal, and I agreed, but now I think we can have that talk, right?" Aditya asked.

Aditya kept on looking at Madeline, and when the girl shamelessly denied the accusations one more time, he sighed.

"My friends saw you dining with a male vampire in the vampire Kingdom during the evening, and they said judging from your proximity, it didn’t look like you were forced into it.

Besides, if you had been forced you would’ve reported it to either me or your parents, but since you didn’t, I guess you were there by will," Aditya said, and James looked at his daughter.

"What is Aditya talking about, Madeline?" James asked, and Madeline found herself in a tough spot.

"Dad, it’s the vampires in the University. Though we don’t like this, we can’t hate all of them uselessly, and since they were acting nice, I had to act nice because of the peace treaty too," Madeline answered, and Aditya nodded.

She was lying. It was clear from the way she wiped her sweating hands on her dress and pinched her nose slightly, her legs moving constantly. However, he didn’t want to probe more.

He got the answer he was looking for.

Elliana was right. Madeline indeed had something to hide. And for her to meet and dine with vampires even after knowing what kind of tragedies they have brought to the place and their kingdom, she was really being very wishful.

One daughter sacrificed herself for the peace treaty and the other one didn’t even care about it. Aditya scoffed.

It looks like the idea of marriage because their parents arranged it, and it was in their best interest was in his head only. She was moving around with other men without a care in the world.

Aditya smiled at himself, a sense of mockery in his thoughts before he sighed and massaged his forehead.

"Thanks for the meal. I have something to do," Aditya said, his gaze shifting to Madeline who usually asks him to stop but today wasn’t even looking at him.

Probably she was scared that if he started and asked more questions, her secret would be out. Aditya shook his head before walking out of the palace, a slight ache in his heart.

And the ache this time wasn’t because Madeline lied to him about something, but because he didn’t believe Elliana all the time.

He pulled out his phone and dialed a number.

"Yes, sir?" The man on the other end said.

"I want a spy to constantly spy on Princess Madeline’s actions. Who she is meeting, who she is seeing or talking to, I want everything. It would be better if you start tapping her phone too," Aditya said before ending the call.

He will need solid evidence to call off this marriage. If he said that he heard this and that, everyone would ask for proof, so it was better to be prepared.

Once this marriage is called off, he will ask Elliana to come to him.

Since Madeline was threatening the girl that she would reveal the truth, he would do it for her.

He will free Elliana from that monster’s hands who move her and act with her without thinking about anything at all. He will free her and ask for forgiveness.

Elliana had pursued him in the past, but this time, he will do it. And he knows that he has hurt her a lot, that’s why he will persist, no matter how long it takes. Aditya smiled at himself.
