Chapter 265: A little embarrassment, little amusement
"Will she be okay?"
"Isn’t it the beauty of being a human? Look at how peacefully she can sleep even with so much noise around her,"
"Isn’t she a cute little thing?"
"Let me pull her cheeks,"
"You will make her fall at this rate,"
Elliana squinted her brows when she heard weird collective noises around her.
"Uhhh... Go away," She mumbled in her sleep.
"I won’t," she recognized the familiar voice and a smile stretched on her lips before she snuggled closer into the warmth that was making her feel at home.
"My Mr. Marino, " she sighed.
She moved her hands on the soft duvet, narrowing her eyes. This mattress, why was it so hard? She moved her fingers more, smiling when she felt the soft thing again.
Meanwhile, Sebastian who was sitting with others, looked down at the stupid girl who had now managed to shift her hand inside his shirt even in her sleep and sighed.
He was about to remove her hand from under his shirt, knowing all too well how embarrassed she was going to be when she will wake up and find herself like this.
However, when he looked at her face and her smiling so contently, he sighed wrapping his hands even tighter than before as he covered her under his overcoat from the other hand.
Elliana who was still in her sleep and thinking about how great she was, ended up kissing Sebastian’s chest, making Sebastian bite the inside of his cheeks as he looked away, trying his best to keep a straight face, which surely looked like a task to him for the first time.
"Now I know why our Sebastian is so collected when she is around. Look at her, she is just like a cute little panda,"
Elliana heard the same voice again, and she squinted her brows.
This voice sounded too loud to be just in her head.
She finally started awakening, the deep slumber of sleep clearing from her eyes as she sensed the different things around her, the most prominent being someone’s hands on her waist and back.
Not just someone’s, the familiar scent made her realize it was Mr. Marino.
He smelt divine like always.
"Ahh, this feels so wrong to look at," Freya squeaked like a fan girl, and a little heat crept up Sebastian’s neck.
"Then don’t," Sebastian’s cold voice resonated, and Freya chuckled at the shy kid.
Hearing the voices more clearly now, Elliana twisted on her back before she blinked her eyes softly, trying to get used to the light as she looked at the large chandelier.
Wait. This wasn’t the room she slept in. She narrowed her eyes before she turned to her right where the entire family was looking at her.
Ha! It must be her illusion. She smiled and shook her head and turned to her left where Sebastian was looking down at her with amusement dancing in his eyes, and she gulped.
"So you are awake?" He asked, his voice controlled, and Elliana who realized this wasn’t an illusion or dream, cussed loudly before she fell from Sebastian’s hand on the carpet.
"Ouch! What the hell?!" Elliana raised her voice, quickly standing up, looking around at everyone and their amused reactions.
She didn’t need to be told twice how she ended up here.
"Mr. Marino!" She scowled.
"What? You said you wanted to attend family things. You were so happy at the breakfast table so I thought you would enjoy a tea party too," Sebastian looked at her before leaning back in his seat, loving the glares she was throwing at him.
His cute little angry kitten. He smirked inwardly, his lips twitching.
"I can only enjoy it when I am awake and not sleeping. You could’ve woken me up before you decided it was a good idea to pick me and bring me here. Oh my god, that soft mattress I was touching -"
Elliana’s went even wider, her heart thumping loudly in her chest.
"It was this," Sebastian pointed to his chest, and Elliana looked at the nail marks on his chest that were evening because of his healing capabilities.
The more she looked at his shameless eyes, the more angered she felt.
"I can’t believe you," Elliana scowled before she took a deep breath and turned to the entire family with an apologetic smile. She evened her dress and hair before scratching the back of her head awkwardly.
"I... I... " she stuttered, unsure what to say, and Sebastian chuckled at her embarrassment, his laugh shocking everyone who was hearing it for the first time after his mother died.
"Don’t laugh," Elliana hissed at him, and he looked at her amused.
"Oh, I will. What are you going to do about it?" He asked, completely forgetting for the first time that he was sitting in front of his family and wasn’t alone with his princess.
"I will throw a tantrum," she turned to him as if that was the biggest threat she could muster was some kind of bomb.
Sebastian shook his head at her childishness.
"And for some reason, you think that I won’t be able to get my way around your tantrums?" Sebastian looked at her intensely, hoping she understood what exactly he meant this time.
"You won’t this time. I am angry for real," Elliana scowled, her ears turning redder, before turning back to the family
"I am sorry for this. Normally, I don’t sleep like that. Maybe it’s because I was exhausted?" Elliana tried the excuse from the last night.
Freya smiled at the embarrassed girl before looking at their youngest prince whom they got to see laugh after such a long time and sighed contently.
Maybe their dad was right. A person who has been wounded by that species can only be cured with a person of the same species. He knew that their prince Sebastian wasn’t really a bad person by heart and wouldn’t hurt the human girl until he found something against her.
Maybe that was the reason he allowed this illegitimate girl to stay because what the prince needed wasn’t some intelligent aristocratic scholar, but an innocent girl who would accept him for the way he was.
Freya smiled at Noah, who mimicked her expression.
She looked at Abramo and Aubrey, who was looking at the duo’s interaction with a content smile, and sighed.
"It’s okay, sweetheart. You don’t need to be embarrassed. We understand. Would you like some tea?" Aubrey asked, and Elliana shook her head.
"Please, excuse me," Elliana nodded at them before glaring at Sebastian one last time as she left the room, making Sebastian place his hand on his face as he suppressed his smiles.
"Excuse me," Sebastian stood from his place, walking behind his woman to coax her, making everyone smile, everyone but a couple of people who were jealous of this duo’s interactions.
