Chapter 203: The night of shame for Mr. Shane (Part-1)
"This way, sir," Lucas led Sebastian through the hallways of the hotel, where they arranged the meeting with the minister in a secretive manner.
"Did you say anything to him about why I called him here?" Sebastian asked Lucas, who shook his head.
"No, sir. Ambrose said you just wanted me to deliver the message and arrange the meeting if he was available, and that’s what I did. I didn’t want to overstep my boundaries," Lucas looked at his feet, well aware of how he has been in a tight spot these days with the prince.
"That’s fine. Stop acting like I took your favourite toy away and kicked you black and blue. I was just angry at that time. Just because the Princess was there, and I didn’t want to create a scene in front of her, I had to act cool when I felt anything but calm," Sebastian paused outside the door and turned to him.
"While I am meeting the minister, I want you to look into this Boston guy. He doesn’t seem right to me," Sebastian looked at his phone and said thoughtfully.
"Is there anything specific I should be looking into, sir? Or should I prepare a file of his detailed information and dealings?" Lucas asked.
"Not the detailed information. This time I want you to send one of our men and ask him to keep a constant lookout on this man. Where he goes, who he meets, what he is planning. I want everything.
Something about him feels off. He looks like the kind of guy who can double-cross anyone for their benefit," Sebastian said, and Lucas nodded before leaving.
It can’t be a coincidence. In this world and circle of strong vampires where everyone is hungry for power and is ready to do just about anything and everything for it, there’s no way a businessman like Boston went on that trip with them out of the blue when this is the peak season of the market with the annual ball around the corner.
Not to mention how he was with Madeline, the stepsister of his Princess, who has tried to hurt her before too.
There is a high possibility that all the incidents on the boat are co-related. They never found the second man involved with that crime because of the Princess’ interruption that night.
And what if? What if the second man was Boston? It was all based on speculation, but after all these years of dealing with snakes around him, Sebastian feels that something is definitely wrong with this guy.
And that girl Madeline? What is she doing with a strong vampire? Don’t they hate vampires with a strong passion and got into this marriage collaboration to put an end to all the fights? Everything was quite complicated, and he should reach the root of it before anyone tried to harm the princess or conspire against her again.
Right now, his sole focus should be on getting the throne and not on dealing with these small matters.
Sebastian turned the knob of the door and walked inside the room, his stance screaming dominance and danger as he casually raised his eyes, his gaze meeting with the minister, who immediately looked down at his feet before taking a deep breath to muster all the courage he could.
"Greetings to Prince Sebastian," The politician raised to his feet, and Sebastian’s eyes drooped even more before he sat in his seat, looking as cruel as ever.
"Sit down," His voice was cold and void of emotions.
He looked at the glass of blood served in front of them before looking at the waitress from under his lashes.
"Which glass contains the vampire blood here?" He asked casually, and the minister’s hands froze on his thighs, his form shivering.
V-vampire blood? He thought, clenching and unclenching his hand to ease his nerves.
The minister gulped, trying his best to not appear weak in front of a man who was half centuries younger than him, but no matter how much he tried, his fast beating heart and the sweat beads on his forehead were a clear indication of how terrified he was.
"I... I am sorry, sir. I wasn’t notified of your preferences," The waitress shivered, fearing for her life.
The rumours were that if the youngest prince was dissatisfied about something, he wouldn’t think twice before grabbing your body and shredding it into pieces and drinking your blood. He hates mistakes just like that.
"It’s okay. We all make mistakes. Besides, I don’t like preserved or stored blood. Why should I bother with that chemical-added liquid when I can have it straight from the source," Sebastian looked at the politician with a smirk.
"Right, Mr. Shane? The feeling of that warm liquid drizzling down your throat as you have it fresh from the source is unmatched. You agree with me, right?" Sebastian leaned back in his seat.
"I... I am sorry, sir, but this subordinate fails to understand your high-level humour," The minister said, his lower lip trembling.
"Oh? Is that so? But then again, when did I say I was joking? I wasn’t," Sebastian said, his gaze raking over his trembling body, making the minister feel even more conscious about himself.
"Haven’t you enjoyed the feeling? You don’t remember it? Ah, all this human blood seriously goes to waste if a vampire can’t even have a good memory. It’s okay. I am a good person. Let me help you," Sebastian smirked, his eyes blood red, and the minister loosened his tie, his throat tightening under the pressure of Sebastian’s gaze.
"I am sorry, sir, but I have no recollection of what you might be referring to. According to the rules, the ministers are only allowed to feed from the live source when it’s a royal meeting, and they are -"
"Rules? Rules are made for breaking, Mr Shane. Isn’t that why I am sitting here even when I am banned from meeting any minister alone?" Sebastian chuckled, a cold humourless laugh, and the minister gulped.
Sebastian wasn’t leaving this matter alone this time. He knew he had to make use of this information at the right time, and it was finally time.
"As I said, let me help you remember it. Blue Crystal Hotel, 23rd July, 7:15 pm, room number 256, a blonde girl in a red dress from the Braveheart club. Will that be enough for you? Or should I help you with a little more details?" Sebastian asked, and the minister gulped.
How did the youngest prince know about it? As far as he knew, the matter was taken care of on that night itself, right? He had checked and cared for everything. That blonde girl was an orphan, right? Then who spread this news?
