Chapter 182: The sinner should be punished.
"Leave me alone. Let go of me," Elliana moaned and struggled as Dexter pulled her away from the vampire girl, using enough limited force so that Elliana doesn’t get hurt either.
The vampire girl looked at Elliana, gasping for air, as she coughed water out of her lungs.
"You, b*tch! I’ll kill you, you attention-seeking wh*re," she screamed, still not giving up and Elliana became even more angry.
"Sshhh, please calm down, Elliana," Dexter tried, pulling her away.
"Why? Why should I calm down, Dexter? Is what she did to me justified now? Is it that in your eyes I am the mean girl too? It would’ve been okay if my dress had burnt, and I had been rendered naked in front of everyone. Or would it have been okay if I drowned," Elliana asked?
"I understand what you are talking about, Elliana, but you are only hurting yourself this way and nothing else. You and I both know you will regret this when you’ll snap out of it," Dexter kept hugging her from behind.
"Leave," Elliana struggled in his hold, and she was about to push him away again when she paused.
Her entire body went limp as if she had no energy left and her gaze trembled. Dexter looked at her in surprise and noticed her gaze was fixated somewhere else.
’Mr. Marino,’ she whispered in her head, and a sob broke out from Elliana’s mouth.
It was already overbearing to see her in this state and seeing her tears rolling down from her eyes like this, Sebastian’s gaze hardened even more.
He looked at her attire before his gaze shifted to the boy’s hands that were wrapped around her.
Like a kid who had been fighting for too long cries when he sees his protector, Elliana cried.
Wiping her cheeks messily, she sobbed, not caring about her ugly tears.
She needed him. Even if he didn’t like her, she knew right the moment she saw him that she needed him, to hold her, care for her and wipe her tears away.
She didn’t want anyone but him.
Sebastian recognized the helplessness in her eyes, the despair and pain of getting hurt at this level, and the fear of what didn’t happen. He didn’t waste a single second in walking towards her and holding her hand.
"Come here," he sighed, and pulled her in his arms, making her sob even harder.
The strong-girl facade she had immediately shattered into a thousand shards, and everyone saw the broken girl that was underneath all that anger, the girl who was scared and terrified of what would’ve happened.
"I am sorry for worrying you," Elliana whispered, and Sebastian’s hands wrapped tighter around her.
Everyone looked at the girl who was raging and beating the vampire girl just a minute ago like there was no tomorrow, turning back into the same innocent girl they know and didn’t know what was the truth anymore.
"Ssshhh, I should be sorry for not being here," he sighed, practically lifting her in the air as he hugged her, unsure if he was trying to calm her or himself.
His heart was beating at an indescribable rate and the thought of what would’ve happened gnawed at his heart, wanting to eat him alive with guilt.
This wouldn’t have happened if he had been here. Just tonight. He could’ve waited just tonight for the meeting, but at least he would’ve kept her safe. This was all his fault.
After a few seconds, he distanced himself from her and took off his overcoat before making her wear it.
"Who’s shirt is this?" Sebastian asked protectively and possessively.
"It’s Mr. Pabalo’s," Elliana whispered, and Sebastian hummed before taking it off and throwing it away as his overcoat hid her properly.
"Ssshhh, don’t make a sound now," Sebastian’s raging eyes looked at her dead in the eyes, and she trembled, pressing her lips into a thin line, making him cup her face between his arms.
"I am here, aren’t I? Nothing will happen to you anymore," Sebastian sighed helplessly.
He wasn’t an expert in this field. He didn’t know how to quiet someone down, and he knew he was going an ugly job at it.
Elliana looked into his affirming eyes and sobbed silently. How can she say that it was because he was here that she was worried like this?
"If you don’t want me to make this ship a place of dead bodies, you will stop crying this instant. No one is allowed to make you cry but me," Sebastian cupped her jaws affectionately before turning around.
"What happened here?" He asked no one in particular, his gaze sweeping over the vampire girl who was coughing and breathing heavily.
"I will tell you what happened," Melony stepped forward.
"No," Elliana grabbed Sebastian’s hand, her gaze trembling with fear, and Sebastian looked down at her small hand that was grabbing him in a soft grip.
"You stay back and don’t speak a word, Princess," Sebastian said, and Elliana walked to the vampire girl, hiding the girl behind her.
"No! Don’t do anything. Just take me away from here," She said firmly, trying to save the girl and everyone looked at her, confused.
Wasn’t she the same girl who was beating her? Why was he trying to protect her?
"What happened, Melony?" Sebastian asked, and Melony looked at Elliana, whose face was screaming a clear no to her, but she sighed and told him everything.
Starting from how Elliana was standing and talking to everyone, to how someone lit her dress on fire, and to save her dignity, she jumped into the ocean, and if it hadn’t been for Dexter who jumped right in time to save her, she might not have made it out alive.
Melony told him how they all suspected Gabrielle because of what happened earlier, and how Gabrielle confessed that she indeed wanted to do something and was planning, but she didn’t do this. Then she told him how Elliana used that trick to find the girl who had done all this to her.
"That’s her," Melony said, and Sebastian looked at the vampire girl, who was still raging and looking at Elliana with animosity.
"What? What are you looking at me for? You better stay within your limits. Stay away from me. I swear I’ll kill you even if you dare go near Daniel," The vampire girl seethed, and Sebastian looked into the crowd, his gaze stopping at the guy, who was the cause of it.
"You did it for him?" Sebastian asked and Elliana hugged him tighter, making him look at her.
He knew what she was trying to do, but there is no way he would relent this time.
This wasn’t a mistake. It was a well-planned sin and the sinner should be punished by the devil.
