Chapter 146: A trauma to fall for

"So, will you accompany me?" Sebastian looked at her hopefully, and she nodded after some time.

"Only if you don’t make fun of that text," Elliana pouted, and Sebastian smiled before rubbing her lower lip to ease her pout.

"I never made fun of your text message, Princess. This is the first time someone complimented me like this. It was quite unique," Sebastian said.

"Hey! Stop," Elliana slapped his chest playfully before freezing in her place.

Even Lucas who was standing at some distance froze in his place.

He quickly rushed to the princess to save her from his prince’s wrath but what happened next was unexpected, even for him.

"I... I am sorry. I don’t mean to. Please forgive me. It was a mistake. I should’ve known my place. Please," Elliana looked at Sebastian with tears in her eyes.

"What are you -" Sebastian raised his hand to cup her cheeks, but Elliana flinched back so hard that she fell on the ground.

"I am sorry, please," she closed her eyes, bringing her knees close to her face as she hugged herself in a cocoon shape, ready to take the beatings.

Sebastian, who only wanted to make feel her at ease and was meaning to hold her hand, froze in his place as he looked at his traumatic wife.

Dexter’s voice once again echoed in his head, and he looked at the girl who was suddenly whimpering in utter shock.

Just how much did those guys bully her for her to have such kind of traumatic reaction?

Who was it? Who did this to her?

"Princess -" Lucas walked to them, and seeing Sebastian’s shaking form in anger, he gulped.

Lucas wanted to help her and take her away from the Prince, but seeing him so angry, he didn’t have the guts to even crouch down to the ground to hold the princess.

"Get out of f*cking here!" Sebastian looked at Lucas, who shook in his place and rushed out of there, the dominant orders forcing his body to move on its own accord.

Sebastian looked at the girl, who whimpered again at his voice, and his gaze softened. He bent down and touched her head softly.

"Princess, it’s me. Mr. Marino. I will never hurt you. No matter what happens, I will never raise my hand on you, princess.

Let me near you. Allow me to not hurt you. I am a monster I know that, but I won’t ever do what those bastards did to you," Sebastian sat close to her before he tried to grab her hand.

He tried quite a few times, whispering sweet nothings to her before sighing.

Once she didn’t flinch at his touch, he didn’t waste a single second in pulling her in his arms before he rushed out.

Rather than going to her room, he took her deeper into the forests.

Meanwhile, Drake who was afraid for the insolent human girl who has taken his girl’s heart and attention these days returned to the spot to ensure she has returned from her stroll.

However, he hadn’t expected to see such a scene in front of himself. Elliana looked really traumatized by whatever event it was.

Drake wanted to step forward when he thought that the bodyguard was the reason behind her trauma trigger, but when he saw how the bodyguard was easing the girl’s anxiousness, he sighed, something weird coming to his notice.

Did that guy say her Mr. Marino was with her? Who was this Mr. Marino? Could it be the infamous royals of the vampire kingdom? But then those royals are never seen making any kind of contact with anyone ever before.

Maybe it was some other Duke family? They are the only ones powerful after the royals. It must be them. Drake sighed before walking back inside the inn. At least the girl is back with her bodyguards.

Elliana, on the other hand, who had immediately remembered how her stepmother had beaten her black and blue when she had slapped her cousin’s chest like this, snuggled closer to Sebastian, feeling comfortable in his arms.

After running for some time, Sebastian stopped at the edge of a cliff before he sat down and hugged Elliana closer to his chest.

"I am sorry," Elliana said after some time, feeling much better than earlier, and Sebastian tilted her head a little to look into her eyes.

"What are you sorry for?" He asked, cupping her cheeks.

"You want to eat food. You were hungry. I am sorry you had to go through this," Elliana looked down at her lap.

"This is my trauma. I am supposed to be dealing with this. You shouldn’t be bothering yourself or your life schedule for something so minuscule," Elliana said, and Sebastian sighed.

"If it had been something related to me, would you have left me alone?" He asked.

"No. Never. You are the only one I have got in this world who doesn’t treat me like an extra. I know my value in your life is nothing more than a stepping stone to get to the throne but -mmmmmphhh,"

Sebastian didn’t let her continue any further. He couldn’t bear to hear the same thing for the second time on the same day. He placed his hand over her eyes and kissed her passionately, leaving her breathless.

Since he was kissing her in this position, it was becoming hard for her to breathe and she patted his chest to let him know.

Sebastian didn’t remove his lips from hers, but gave her enough space to breathe.

"Even if this is true, and you are nothing more than that, you are my wife. No one is allowed to make my wife cry. I don’t give this right to anyone, not even yourself. Do you understand me? We are in this together," Sebastian mumbled through his lips, and Elliana blushed.

"I am not the one to make empty promises, but from now on until you are with me, I’ll be responsible for protecting you from this world, your demons, and even from a monster like me," Sebastian said.

"Will you ever let me see your face?" Elliana suddenly asked, and remembering what she had said about the mask, he gulped.

’Show me your face only when you trust me enough. You don’t need to take your mask off just because we ever get close. I want your trust first before I look at your face and mark that picture in my heart,’ This is what Elliana had said to him.

"Maybe someday," Sebastian said, and Elliana who had not expected this kind of answer, widened her eyes in shock.

"You, what did you say?" Elliana asked, and Sebastian gritted his teeth.

"I said maybe someday I will," Sebastian said, and Elliana pulled back in shock.

"Really - woah!" Elliana shrieked in pure horror.

Because of how sudden her jerk was, Sebastian who was just sitting on a large rock near the edge of the cliff lost his balance, and they fell down the cliff.
