Chapter 586: 585. Idiot! (15th update)
The little assistant across from her was just bringing up dinner when she heard this mumbling and immediately felt as if she was facing a great enemy, with every nerve in her body tensing up.
"Boss, you want to invite Mr. Jing to a preview screening?!"
"Mmm... my friends who should be filming are filming, those who should be in class are in class, so only his schedule is relatively free."
Tang Shu felt her logic was flawless.
Yang Tiantian was stunned at first, then her expression became quite strange.
So that was the reason?!
Was the boss’s thinking a bit peculiar? Wasn’t Mr. Jing the busiest of all? Wait a minute... something is wrong. She suddenly realized that her boss had too few friends!
In fact, this was a complete misconception of Tang Shu, as most artists who had worked with her had gotten along well with her.
However, being in this industry, they spent most of their time mixing on set, and as public figures, they really didn’t have that much free time to go out and have fun.
Tang Shu sent Jing Yu a private message to ask if he was free, and without waiting for a reply, she walked toward the dining table.
"The meal is very rich today!"
With only the two of them at home, they had prepared three dishes and one soup, and this soup was even a pork rib soup that had been stewed for several hours. It was quite thoughtful.
"I didn’t follow the boss this afternoon, so I went to the supermarket in the residential area and bought two pounds of pork ribs. I had the time to simmer it a bit longer."
With no scenes to shoot in the crew, Tang Shu let Yang Tiantian drive back by herself in the afternoon, while she strolled to Plants & Herbs Hall.
That place, indeed, wasn’t suitable for a young girl to stay often.
As the two talked, Tang Shu ladled a bowl of pork rib soup for herself. Just as she was about to have a meal, she saw the front door being slowly pushed open and a familiar figure sneakily slipped in.
Perhaps because of the angle, Xu Qianyun only glanced at the sofa, saw no one there, and let out a sigh of relief, inwardly heaving a "Lucky."
"Lucky what?"
A soft query followed from behind him.
"Keep it down. My sister has been a bit busy recently; if she isn’t on the sofa, then she’s in the lab. Let’s not let her find us."
"Oh, I get it."
The door was slowly pushed open; after Xu Qianyun floated in on his feet, another figure in the same school uniform appeared behind him – it was the hairstyle... somehow, it didn’t quite fit.
Yang Tiantian: "..."
Fantastic, not even considering looking into the dining room. She and the boss, two big people, were completely treated like air, huh?
Good job, little brother!
Tang Shu stirred the pork rib soup with a spoon, "Come here."
The two at the entrance instantly looked towards the source of the voice in horror.
"!!!"
[Didn’t you say your sister was in some lab?!]
[Sorry, I guessed wrong.]
Tang Shu said, "Do I need to say it a second time? Come here."
Xu Qianyun walked towards the dining table with a dejected face, carrying his backpack and not forgetting to glare fiercely at the boy behind him.
The latter gave an awkward grin, straightening the loose school uniform on his body nervously.
For some reason, he always felt a bit embarrassed like this, wondering if this sister would pin him to the ground and give him a good beating like last time?
Of course, as it turned out, he was just overthinking it.
Tang Shu only gave him a cursory glance and then instructed Yang Tiantian to fetch two more sets of utensils from the kitchen.
And the most awkward one at the scene turned out to be Xu Qianyun himself.
"Sis, that... it was him insisting on coming. I’ve declined many times."
But it was no use; ever since that guy got a thrashing last time, every time he saw him, he stuck to him like a plaster, which he couldn’t peel off no matter how hard he tried.
"Yes, yes, sis, I came on my own!"
Sis?
Tang Shu raised an eyebrow and looked at him again. He immediately flashed her a set of pearly white teeth, his smile almost splitting his head in two.
"Sit down and have some dinner."
It was now nine-thirty in the evening. Tang Shu had come back from Plants & Herbs Hall later than usual, so she hadn’t eaten dinner yet. As for the two youngsters opposite her... boys that age get hungry quickly, especially after attending three evening self-study sessions, they must be starving.
"Thanks, sis!"
The boy was the first to speak, his bright white teeth once again exposed to the air as he promptly pulled out a chair and sat down, even beckoning Xu Qianyun to join.
"Come on, sit down. Aren’t you hungry?"
Xu Qianyun: "..."
Is this really my sister’s house, or is it your sister’s? Is it really okay for you to be so hospitable to someone who almost beat you to death last time?
Idiot!
Yang Tiantian got bowls and chopsticks for them and took a few minutes to stir-fry another dish. She also made two bowls of noodles, each with a pair of soft-boiled eggs nestled inside.
"We might not have enough rice. Do you guys want noodles instead?"
"Sure, sure. What’s your name, sis?"
"I’m Tiantian. Are you Qianyun’s classmate?"
Yang Tiantian did not recognize that this was the same bad boy she had briefly seen at the school gate; she assumed he was Xu Qianyun’s good friend.
"Yes, we’re good buddies. Nice to meet you, Sister Tiantian!"
Xu Qianyun snorted coldly at the words "good buddies," obviously scoffing at them.
Tang Shu knocked on his head, "Speak nicely."
"Oh—"
Feeling so wronged—
As dinner commenced, the table, which had been silent, was now full of chatter thanks to the addition of one boisterous character. The soup in front of them was disappearing at an astonishing rate.
Most of it was going into the belly of the boy.
Tang Shu put down her eating utensils, "What’s your name?"
"I’m Qu Junfeng. You can just call me Little Feng, sis!"
"Little Feng."
Tang Shu readily agreed, then looked at Xu Qianyun, "When you came over here, did you check in with Mom?"
"I did. Both Mom and Dad agreed."
"Okay, that’s good. Once you’ve finished eating, rest early. As for you... do you want to squeeze in with Qianyun, or sleep in the guest room?"
"I’ll bunk with Xu Qianyun!"
Qu Junfeng immediately raised his hand to declare his preference.
"Fine, good night."
Tang Shu stood up and walked towards the bedroom on the second floor.
Xu Qianyun put down his bowl and gave the tagalong a complicated look, only to be met with a flash of pearly white teeth.
Anger surged up in an instant.
"What are you laughing at? You just know how to laugh, idiot!"
"Hehe~~"
The "idiot" Qu Junfeng didn’t care at all, and after dinner, he very diligently bid Tang Shu goodnight, then scurried after Xu Qianyun’s footsteps.
Tang Shu watched the two figures for a moment and smiled.
"Boss, what are you smiling at?"
"It’s nothing. Not sure whom Qianyun got his contrary nature from."
After dinner, although she wore a displeased expression toward her classmate, apparently having brought him home meant she had already accepted this friend made through a fight.
Such young boys, with no deep-seated grudges, could quickly become brothers after a fight.
The reason why Tang Shu hadn’t asked a single question was precisely because she had noticed this.
As for Qu Junfeng... to read a person, a look in their eyes is enough.
