Chapter 82: Chapter 81: Scamming? What a Coincidence
```
The training tonight just happened to be about night combat skills, and at this time Si Yuting had not rested either.
Qu Tong’s voice, inherently sweet, carried a soft and tender tone of exhaustion and reached Si Yuting’s ears, causing his brow to furrow slightly as he lightly tapped on his light brain:
[Then we’ll wait until you’re free.]
After that, Si Yuting dialed Si Chen’s number, "Father Emperor, about taking two days off that I mentioned before—I’m canceling it."
A sleepy Emperor grumbled, "What the hell#*&..."
It wasn’t until the next morning that Qu Tong returned to Capital Star and went straight to her military theory class to cook eggs, sleeping soundly throughout.
When she got back to the dorm, she saw Xu An waiting at the door.
She didn’t need to guess why he was looking for her.
But her mind was made up, and she wouldn’t be swayed.
She knew Xu An was worried about her, but the reasons behind it were not convenient to share—she would just have to be seen as willful.
Indeed, as she approached, Xu An began analyzing the pros and cons for her, emphasizing the dangers of her trip and advising her to give up.
"Alright, brother, I know all that you’ve said, and it will be fine," Qu Tong replied dismissively with a nod.
If it hadn’t been for the school’s rule against freshmen undertaking missions alone, she would have long since sneaked off by herself.
Qu Tong took out a stack of papers from her space and stuffed them into Xu An’s hands to divert his attention, "Brother, there’s something I need your help with."
"What is it?" Xu An picked up the report and glanced at it, "Sweetheart Farm?"
"Right," nodded Qu Tong.
She had asked Xiang Bin to help her with this report and hadn’t expected it to actually reveal issues.
Proudly patting Xu An on the shoulder, Qu Tong encouraged, "Bro, this important mission is up to you now—take it down!"
She then prepared to head back and continue her nap.
"Wait." Xu An stopped Qu Tong and handed her a Space Button.
"This is for you."
"Thank you, brother." Qu Tong happily responded after glancing at the contents.
Qu Tong’s "brother" is really great, such a warm guy.
For the following two days, Qu Tong didn’t rent a virtual pod from the experimental building again.
Instead, she purchased a batch of medicinal herbs online and stayed alone in her room.
Apart from attending classes, she barely left the dormitory.
After class was over, Qu Tong prepared to make a trip to the military hospital.
Having become familiar with Fei Wenxing and Cheng Yao, she often saw them around.
Listening to their gossips, she stumbled upon good news—that Gu Xiao from the school infirmary could grant her special approval to purchase an additional two boxes of hemostatic powder each month from the military hospital.
Initially, she thought about bribing Gu Xiao with Energy Fruits or potions, but Gu Xiao simply issued it to her directly.
He only asked one question, "Are you the wife of War God Your Highness?"
You have to admit, sometimes her husband’s title is really handy.
Qu Tong had barely stepped out of the school gate when she keenly noticed someone’s spiritual power locked onto her.
She had intended to take a flying vehicle but instead abruptly turned into a less populated shady path and with a swing of a vine, leapt up a large tree.
Two men, dressed as students, were following her, but from their callused hands and the muscles underneath their clothes, it was clear they were not ordinary students.
```
The buzz-cut man, realizing his target was gone, hurried forward and looked around the corner, impatience written on his face:
"Dammit, it’s so damn hard to get this woman’s money! It took forever to catch her alone, and now she’s vanished into thin air."
"Could she have spotted us? Maybe that’s why she’s hiding on purpose."
"Didn’t the third young master’s girlfriend say she’s a piece of trash? We kept our distance, so how could she have noticed us? She must’ve slipped away through some alley; we should split up and search carefully."
"Okay, I’ll go this way." And with that, he chose an alley to explore.
Standing under the tree, the buzz-cut man spat disdainfully, "All this wasted time. When I catch her, I’ll make her beg beneath me—Ah!"
Before he could finish his sentence, his head was cracked open with a brick, and he could only utter a brief cry of pain.
Qu Tong tossed the brick in her hand back under the tree and her demeanor turned cold, her indifferent gaze carried a mocking and scornful tint: "Ugly and delusional."
She hadn’t encountered Lan Xingye and Qu Wanwan these past few days and thought they had given up, but it seemed they were still fixated on her.
Just by looking at their lewd gazes, she knew they were up to no good, unsure which of the two had come up with such a vile plan.
A vine shot out, harshly stabbing the man’s lower body. Blood flowed, and the man, who had fainted, let out a ferocious scream, his pupils dilating momentarily from the pain before losing consciousness again.
Qu Tong didn’t linger with another look. The vine, yearning to retract to her hand, was disdainfully dismissed by her.
The complaints from the man who had gone out earlier drifted back from around the corner: "That’s a dead end over there; there’s nobody, not even a footprint to be seen."
Before he could turn the corner, a vine tripped him to the ground.
"Who’s there!" The man barely propped himself up, preparing to curse, when the vine behind him wrapped around and slammed him into a damp corner of the wall.
The wall, already in disrepair, collapsed upon impact.
Two screams followed.
Two screams?
Qu Tong paused, then from beneath the wall came cursing: "Who’s there? Is there no decency at all? Dumping trash and giving me a fright."
"Ouch! I can’t believe it!" The old man had just risen when his leg struck a brick and he fell solidly to the ground.
Qu Tong, standing five meters away, heard the sound of bones breaking.
"My poor back!" The old man lay on the ground, unable to move, his hand trembling as he touched his lower back.
Qu Tong let out a snort of laughter; what a coincidence.
It was only then the old man noticed Qu Tong not far off and immediately his eyes lit up, shouting to her, "Hey girl, it was you who threw that man, wasn’t it? Come over here and give me a hand."
Qu Tong stood still, her voice harmless, "You tripped over a stone and fell on your own. What if you blame it on me?"
The old man was incensed, puffing out his beard and glaring, "If you hadn’t knocked down the wall, would I have tripped over a brick? You even gave me a scare, and I didn’t even demand compensation for my emotional distress."
Unmoved, Qu Tong replied, "While it’s true I knocked down the wall, it didn’t hit you, did it? You weren’t watching where you were going—that has nothing to do with me."
The old man slapped his thigh in frustration, causing a sharp pain in his back, which made him cry out in agony.
Qu Tong, seeing his pathetic state and feeling partly responsible, prepared to step forward and help, intending to send him to the hospital.
Just as she was about to take a step, the old man, thinking she would flee, yelled out, "Wait, don’t go! If you leave, I’ll spread the word about what happened here."
Qu Tong’s raised foot halted, and she raised an eyebrow, "Are you really going to pin this on me?"
Angrily, the old man retorted, "What do you mean ’pin this on you’? It is your responsibility!"
Threatened, Qu Tong no longer intended to help. The last bit of conscience she had prevented her from simply walking away.
"I’ll call an ambulance for you."
That was all she could do; she hated complications.
"No, no, don’t call, hiss—" the old man, agitated, pulled at his back again and took a while to recover.
