Chapter 409 - 408 Niannian is Not Afraid

Chapter 409: Chapter 408 Niannian is Not Afraid

Qu Tong, fearing Niannian might get hurt again, gathered her hair and took off her necklace.

This necklace was made by Si Yuting from top-quality Purple Crystal as her 20th birthday gift, to conveniently switch between her two identities, though it wasn’t a Space Button, its value was considerably high.

Qu Tong threw the necklace over and asked, "What next?"

The sharp-chinned man, seeing Qu Tong being so cooperative, magnanimously retracted the dagger.

Upon receiving Qu Tong’s Space Button, he immediately opened it to check.

The next second, a look of surprise burst from his eyes, "It’s an elixir! We’ve struck it rich!"

Du Biao was just about to scold him for his lack of composure. It was just an elixir; was there any need to be so excited?

He turned his head and almost bit his tongue.

He saw that in the hands of sharp-chinned man were elixirs, the clear elixir liquid contained tiny silver pearls of light, all were Special Grade Elixirs!

A whole six vials!

In the black market, that was worth upwards of a hundred million!

And that was just what one hand could hold.

Now, Du Biao was also shocked and looked back at Qu Tong with a sinister excitement, "I didn’t expect you to be worth far more than I imagined, taking the risk to lure you out was worth it."

The sharp-chinned man carefully put the elixirs back into the Space Button and pulled out a pouch from his waist, throwing Qu Tong’s Space Button into it.

The pouch sagged heavily, likely containing quite a few Space Buttons.

"Though we’ve lost quite a few brothers, the haul is substantial. Now we’ve got herbal materials, elixirs, and test subjects," the sharp-chinned man said proudly, shaking the pouch.

Du Biao hummed displeasedly.

The sharp-chinned man immediately shut up, obsequiously handing the pouch to Du Biao, "Boss, here."

Qu Tong watched the entire process calmly, as if what they were holding wasn’t her property.

"What test subjects?" Qu Tong asked.

The sharp-chinned man glanced at Niannian and then moved his gaze to Qu Tong, a sinister smile spreading across his face.

Qu Tong frowned, feeling inexplicably uncomfortable.

"That’s none of your concern," Du Biao said dismissively, glancing at Qu Tong.

Qu Tong chuckled lightly, not minding, "You called me here, you ought to state your intentions, right? I’ve given the items, you should hand over the person now."

"Hahahaha." Du Biao laughed as if he’d heard a joke, laughing heartily.

After his laughter subsided, he looked coldly at Qu Tong, "Alright, come and take her."

Du Biao put Niannian down on the ground, still holding her by the back of her neck.

Qu Tong had just taken a step when the Crown Princess Consort pulled her back.

"Don’t go."

It was clear to anyone that it wouldn’t be that simple.

Although she was also very worried about her daughter, rushing over recklessly would only lead to greater losses.

Qu Tong looked around; just as she halted, Du Biao’s men had closed in, and more and more members of the Star Thieves Gang had entered.

Qu Tong sent the Crown Princess Consort to join the hostages, amid her puzzled gaze, and walked toward Du Biao.

Du Biao smiled, looking at her as if watching prey walk into a trap; his thick brows did not make him appear any more affable, instead, growing more menacing.

Step by step, getting closer.

Her leather boots clacked against the lightweight aluminum flooring, producing a crisp sound - clack, clack, clack.

Du Biao’s smile widened, mischievously letting go of Niannian, who ran a few steps before he brutally lifted her up and harshly threw her towards where Qu Tong was.

Qu Tong’s expression turned to horror, and without thinking, she threw herself forward.

Fortunately, she caught her!

The inertia caused Qu Tong, having caught Niannian, to slam back into a wall, the pain contorting her face.

"Clang! Clang!"

Suddenly, several iron bars fell from above, embedding into the floor and creating a separate enclosure between the wall and themselves, locking Qu Tong and Niannian inside.

"Hahaha!" Wild laughter followed immediately, the Star Thieves behind Du Biao celebrated, their flattery unceasing.

One by one, the Star Thieves appraised Qu Tong like lambs to the slaughter.

"This damn injury has taken me over a year to heal; we’ll settle this score later," Du Biao muttered, touching the scar over his eyelid with a vicious tone in his voice.

Niannian was tightly protected in Qu Tong’s arms and was not harmed.

"Auntie, are you okay?" Niannian asked worriedly as he stepped out from Qu Tong’s embrace.

"I’m fine."

Qu Tong shook her head and helped Niannian up from the ground.

She concentrated a burst of spiritual power in her hand and struck the iron pillar.

The spiritual power collided with the iron pillar, making a sharp noise.

Yet, the iron pillar remained immovable, leaving only a faint scratch.

"Don’t waste your effort, this is a special material used in control rooms, specially prepared for you," sneered the man with the sharp chin.

Hearing this, Qu Tong swung another burst of spiritual power.

"I told you not to waste..."

The man’s words stopped abruptly.

"Swoosh!" Qu Tong’s spiritual power passed through the gap in the iron door, shattering the glass in the distance.

"Attack!"

Following Qu Tong’s command, Wu Yue, hiding among the Star Thieves, killed several of them and, together with a few other soldiers disguised as hostages or Star Thieves, quickly secured the Crown Princess Consort and the hostages.

"No good! There’s a mole!" a Star Thief shouted just before Wu Yue blew his head off with a single shot.

"Crash, crash, crash!" More glass shattered, and the door was smashed open; Feng Lin led his men to quickly surround the area.

Du Biao’s face changed, "Where’s the informant!"

"He’s probably dead by now," Qu Tong said lightly from behind the bars, "thanks to your high regard for me."

The noise she had intentionally or unintentionally caused before had gathered not all but at least ninety percent of the Venomous Snake Pirate Group members.

"Damn it! You bitch," Du Biao spat angrily, glaring fiercely at Qu Tong, "I was thinking of leaving you a whole corpse, but now I’ve changed my mind."

"Retreat!" Du Biao suddenly shouted aloud.

Qu Tong furrowed her brows.

Retreat?

Where to retreat?

Soon, her ominous premonition came true.

It was unclear what Du Biao had activated, but the ground started shaking and a big door quickly descended from the ceiling, while curved walls encircled from all sides.

Wu Yue and Feng Lin tried to enter, but it was too late.

Many Star Thieves who did not make it in time were also ruthlessly isolated outside.

Du Biao did not care about their lives and did not even blink an eye.

The space where Qu Tong was also changed, with tight iron plates slowly lowering all around, with no side dropping back.

Suddenly, darkness engulfed Qu Tong, and a eerily quiet atmosphere crept into her heart, nearly stopping her breathing.

A buzzing noise suddenly arose, and Qu Tong felt a pressing weight on her legs, distracting her focus and dispelling a bit of her fear.

She could only feel the ground rapidly rising and then accelerating forward quickly.

Qu Tong’s body fell heavily, not forgetting to pull Niannian into her embrace before falling.

Her body slid backwards, pressing again onto the cold wall, Qu Tong reached out a hand and grabbed an iron pillar.

Gradually, the speed stabilized.

"Auntie?" came a soft voice from Niannian in the darkness.

"Don’t be afraid, Niannian."

As Qu Tong spoke comforting words, the hand holding Niannian trembled.

Suddenly, that hand was gently enveloped by a pair of small, soft hands, and Niannian’s body leaned against hers, "I’m not scared, Uncle said Auntie is very powerful, even more than him."
