The Marshal’s Wife is Wild
Chapter 314 - 313: Tidal Wave

Chapter 314: Chapter 313: Tidal Wave

Si Yuting bowed his head to check on Qu Tong’s condition.

"Your Highness, I’m fine, open the hatch!" Qu Tong urged.

The seawater had already poured in, and their time was running out.

Si Yuting nodded, pulling Qu Tong with one hand while using the other to open the hatch.

As soon as the hatch opened, they were greeted by the salty fishy smell, soaking them through.

Before they could react, another wave smacked down.

Qu Tong was protected in Si Yuting’s arms, lifted high by the surge, both completely enveloped by the sea.

In the face of nature, even Ability Awakeners seemed insignificant.

Qu Tong had no chance to use her Special Ability before being violently slammed down by the waves.

All Qu Tong felt was her internal organs being brutally compressed, nausea surging to her heart.

The Spirit Power Barrier was shattered countless times, but Si Yuting never let go of her, the place where he held her at the waist even pained by the impact of the waves.

Suddenly, a shock as if hitting something stopped their motion.

A muffled groan came from behind.

After the giant wave passed, Qu Tong got a moment to breathe and took in several deep breaths of fresh air, then quickly checked on Si Yuting’s condition.

Si Yuting released one hand to grasp the rocks, and with the other, he still held Qu Tong firmly in his arms.

A tinge of blood appeared in the seawater.

"Si Yuting, you’re bleeding."

"It’s nothing!" came the deep voice, with a hint of reassurance.

A sharp pang struck Qu Tong’s heart; Si Yuting was enduring this calamity solely because of her, and the injury was sustained while protecting her.

Without pausing in her actions, Qu Tong quickly wrapped vines around their waists to secure them to the rock, helping to alleviate some of Si Yuting’s burden.

She then swiftly took out 100% Energy Liquid from the Space Button and opened it for Si Yuting to drink.

"Energy Liquid is of no use to me," Qu Tong read Si Yuting’s look and explained ahead of time.

Qu Tong reached out to touch the wound on Si Yuting’s back but was stopped by the hand he had freed. "I’m fine, focus on getting to shore first," he said.

It wasn’t the time for stubbornness, and Qu Tong didn’t insist. She had expended too much spiritual power forming Spirit Power Barriers earlier, and if the wound was too severe, she wouldn’t be able to heal it.

Qu Tong looked around.

The sky that had been clear before was now overcast.

Pushed by the waves, they had gotten much closer to the island.

There was no longer any sign of the yacht on the sea; it must have sunk.

The sea was still choppy, but it had calmed down a great deal from before.

Both were soaked to the bone, the seawater ice-cold; only the warmth from the chest behind her penetrated through the thin clothing.

"Can your Special Ability form a large leaf?" Si Yuting asked while pushing a wet lock of hair from Qu Tong’s face.

"I can, but it’s not very sturdy."

"I’ll add another layer of Spirit Power Barrier on the outside. When a wave pushes in this direction, we’ll let go," Si Yuting said.

"Okay."

When a wave much smaller than before came along, carrying with it a massive swell, Qu Tong following Si Yuting’s instructions, retracted the vines, a semi-circular leaf enveloped them both, bobbing like a small boat on the wave.

After a tumultuous ride, not knowing how many times Si Yuting had reinforced the Spirit Power Barrier, they were finally pushed onto the sandy beach, the leaf crumbling to pieces.

The tide in front had just receded when they were caught up by the larger wave from behind, and even with the sand buffering them, they were still pushed a long way forward.

They made it, fortunately.

If the larger wave behind had crashed them onto shore, the injuries could have been much worse.

The waves receded, leaving a large expanse of blood stains spreading across the sand, a shocking sight to behold.

Qu Tong hurriedly struggled out of Si Yuting’s arms to check his back.

At the sight, Qu Tong was utterly shocked.

Si Yuting, seeing Qu Tong’s silence, expressed his concern, "Scared, aren’t you?"

"No," Qu Tong shook her head, her voice inadvertently choked up with self-reproach, guilt, and probably a bit of something else.

This was not just serious, it was horrifically gruesome.

His back was a mess, with torn clothes and flesh blurred together, and at the center, a gash so deep that bone was visible, blood gushing out. In just that short time, both Si Yuting’s clothing and the sand beneath had been stained red.

With such a severe injury, Si Yuting had not made a sound.

For a moment, a thousand thoughts raced through her mind, but she didn’t know what to say.

Qu Tong channeled the last bit of her Special Ability into him, but it could only mend so little.

Si Yuting felt Qu Tong’s hands gently press against his back, then the pain started to lessen, guessing some of what was happening and stayed still to cooperate.

Qu Tong took out all the Hemostatic Medicine Powder from her Space Button and stopped the bleeding first.

Then she took out a thin cape and covered him with it.

"Your Highness, can you walk?"

The tide had not yet finished, and they couldn’t stay here long; there might be even larger waves coming their way.

Si Yuting nodded, rising slowly, and even when he agitated his wound, he only furrowed his brow.

Si Yuting’s large hand fell on Qu Tong’s as she helped him, tightening his grip, "Ali, you don’t need to worry, my physical condition is stronger than most, I’ll be fine."

There was a hint of apology in Si Yuting’s deep gaze, "Ali, don’t blame yourself, it has nothing to do with you."

Si Yuting’s voice was always calm and composed, deliberately slowed down, and as gentle as a feather brushing against one’s heart.

Qu Tong knew of course, the wound wasn’t life-threatening, and lying in a Healing Chamber once they returned would leave no scars, but the pain was real, and it could potentially cause long-term problems.

Qu Tong carefully helped Si Yuting to a place farther from the sea.

"Boom!"

A bolt of lightning slashed across the sky, followed by a thunderous roar.

Qu Tong looked back and saw a huge cyclone forming over the sea, with winds whipping up the moisture.

Fortunately, the Eye of the Storm had not formed, and it was quite far from the island.

Just as Qu Tong sighed with relief, she saw numerous Star Beasts flying out from the sea, large in size, resembling both fish and birds, with a row of blue-glowing holes on their pectoral fins.

Qu Tong had seen these kinds of Star Beasts in Master Yan’s Virtual Pod.

All level eight, every single one of them was a level eight Star Beast!

In an instant, Qu Tong felt as though her blood had turned cold; she didn’t have a single bit of spiritual power left now.

Si Yuting’s hand, holding Qu Tong’s, tightened unconsciously.

"Ali, stay behind me when the fight starts," Si Yuting said, his expression more solemn than ever before.

"But, your injury..." Qu Tong was worried.

"It’s not a problem."

Si Yuting’s voice was resolute, his posture ramrod straight, giving off a sense that even faced with thousands upon thousands of enemies, there would be not a flicker of fear.

Qu Tong bit her lip. How could it not matter? Such a serious injury clearly affected his movements, the thought of him fighting again was unbearably painful.

Qu Tong looked around and said gravely, "Take me to the center of the island."

"Okay," Si Yuting responded without questioning and promptly complied.

Summoning his Mecha, he brought Qu Tong with him into the cockpit.

The space inside the Mecha cockpit was very small, and Qu Tong was very close to Si Yuting, so she could clearly hear his breathing grow heavier as he climbed into the Mecha; the blood on his back was probably seeping out again, but Si Yuting’s face remained untroubled.

Qu Tong truly admired his endurance.
