Chapter 285: Chapter 284 Miss Jun Li’s Poor Taste
Qu Tong could feel that the frequency of the mirror patrols had clearly increased recently, and the scope had also become wider.
Qu Tong would occasionally join them, and there were also various tasks to eradicate Star Beasts, big and small.
Once, while patrolling near the Fifth Legion, they even had a head-on conflict with the fighter jets of the Fifth Legion.
The territories of the various legions were not very regular, with the First Legion guarding a particularly vast area, bordering the Second, Fifth, and Sixth Legions.
The First Legion and the Fifth Legion had always been at odds, with occasional minor frictions, but due to the delicate relationship between the Alchemist Association and the Legion, the situation had never escalated further.
Perhaps because of Lan Xingrui, the soldiers of the Fifth Legion were known to be the most arrogant and barbaric of the six major legions.
But Qu Tong wouldn’t indulge them—if they dared shoot at her with laser bullets, she’d have Wen You force the Fifth Legion’s jets to a halt directly.
The pilot of the fighter jet from the Fifth Legion was their deputy regimental commander, who also happened to be a relative of Lan Xingye.
Qu Tong alone put down more than a dozen people from the other side.
The deputy regimental commander even got kicked a couple more times.
The people on the First Legion’s side watched with a great sense of satisfaction, feeling a triumphant relief.
Wen You suddenly started seeing Jun Li as much more amiable, "Miss Jun Li, you’re truly brave. You did what I’ve always wanted to do but never dared. Awesome!"
Qu Tong flicked her hair, her expression proud and cool, "What’s there to be afraid of? I can still supply the First Legion with elixirs."
She could even cover all the other major legions if she wanted to; she just didn’t want to exhaust herself.
"Miss Jun Li is mighty!" The admiration on the soldiers’ faces was genuine.
On her way back, Qu Tong shared the matter with Si Yuting.
Si Yuting didn’t blame her, but with helpless indulgence said, "Don’t worry, I’ll have grandfather take care of it later, and maybe you can even ask for some compensation for emotional distress."
"Your Highness, you’re too good." Qu Tong pounced on him.
Si Yuting was startled by Qu Tong’s sudden movement, but quickly reached out to catch her.
Qu Tong took the opportunity to wrap her arms around Si Yuting’s neck, rubbing her face against his chest.
"Are you a cat?" Si Yuting tried to push her away, to no avail.
"There’s no cat in the Chinese zodiac."
Qu Tong’s voice came from within his embrace, muffled and tingling on the skin of his chest.
Qu Tong propped herself up slightly, pretending to think, then suddenly laughed, "Probably a tiger since they’re both felines."
"You forgot to close the door when you came in," Si Yuting’s eyes flickered, as he exerted some force to pull her up, standing himself as well.
Qu Tong looked back at the door, having forgotten to close it.
A mischievous smile flashed in Qu Tong’s eyes as she wrapped her arms around Si Yuting’s hands, leaning in to whisper sultrily, "What shall we do if our affair is discovered?"
Si Yuting withdrew his hand, looking at Qu Tong with a complex expression, "Mind your image, be careful lest it reach my parents’ ears."
"You stay here, I’ll go out for a bit."
As he spoke, Si Yuting straightened the clothes that Qu Tong had rumpled and walked towards the door.
Far from the door of the office, Cheng Feng hesitated, stopping Jiang Zhou who was walking by.
Jiang Zhou gave Cheng Feng a look, full of question marks, "What is it, speak up. Don’t waste my time."
Cheng Feng took a while to gather his thoughts, then spoke seriously, "If your leader was cheating within marriage, would you advise against it or not?"
Jiang Zhou looked as if he had seen through it all, his expression indifferent.
Cheng Feng was already in anguish, rambling on, "The sister-in-law is so nice, how could the Admiral be so close and affectionate with the sister-in-law’s best friend? Isn’t that cheating?"
Infidelity! Best friend?
Cheng Feng suddenly widened his eyes, gripping Jiang Zhou’s arm tightly, "Last time you said that your cheating wife’s scummy... ugh, friend, he couldn’t possibly be the Admiral, could he?"
Jiang Zhou rolled his eyes, disgustedly pulling his arm away.
Cheng Feng continued to press Jiang Zhou on whether he had known all along, when Jiang Zhou suddenly stood up straight, saying solemnly, "I have something else to do, I’m leaving first."
Cheng Feng was confused, "Weren’t you looking for the boss for something?"
"There might be something off with one of the data sets, I need to go back and correct it."
Jiang Zhou strained to pull his arm free and turned to leave.
Cheng Feng suddenly realized something and turned around as if facing a formidable enemy.
When he saw his own boss walking over leisurely, his entire scalp tightened, "Boss... boss... boss."
Ten minutes later, Cheng Feng was sweating profusely on the training field, cursing under his breath.
"That Jiang Zhou, a treacherous little runt, has no sense of loyalty! Talking in riddles about such an important matter, damn it’s frustrating! Let’s see if I ever bring him fresh Insect Clan samples again."
Qu Tong leisurely munched on an apple, glancing at Si Yuting with a hint of amusement in her eyes, "If you keep messing with him like this, won’t he spread the word about your marital infidelity far and wide?"
In his opinion, Cheng Feng was the biggest gossip and blabbermouth among the four of them.
"Don’t talk like that in the future," he said, his words carrying a hint of grinding teeth.
Qu Tong stuck out her tongue.
"Cheng Feng knows his limits, he won’t blab recklessly. I’m punishing him because he deserted his post and wandered around instead of doing his mission," Si Yuting said with a calm and stern expression.
Qu Tong couldn’t help but chuckle.
"Yes, yes, your highness makes a good point."
Si Yuting cast a brief, indifferent glance at Qu Tong.
Qu Tong, fearless, laughed loudly and unrestrainedly.
Jiang Zhou, who had just reprinted the data, saw this scene and sighed internally.
Miss Jun Li was beautiful and powerful, so why did she have such poor taste, to hang herself on a married man like the Grand Marshal?
Although the Grand Marshal was indeed exceptional, but...
Even though Jiang Zhou did not particularly respect Miss Jun Li’s character, he was still grateful for the elixirs and research suggestions she had provided them.
However, other than necessary communication, he no longer approached her with the same enthusiasm as before.
Qu Tong noticed this change as well but didn’t mind much, since she was leaving in a couple of days anyway.
Jiang Zhou’s experiments were making small progress and he needed to go to Insect Star again to capture more Insect Clan samples.
The Insect Clan’s habitat was far away and its exact location unknown. They did not eradicate all the Insect Clan each time they appeared, allowing them to inhabit Insect Stars beyond the borders as long as they did not interfere.
But the Insect Clan reproduced rapidly and had huge appetites, which is why they continually sought to conquer new territories.
Qu Tong also went along to the Insect Star.
It was the same planet as last time, after capturing the Insect Clan, Jiang Zhou wanted to check on the yew tree from before.
But when they arrived, Jiang Zhou searched the area twice, not finding the yew tree they had seen before.
"How strange, I’m sure it was around here, these few plants are still here," Jiang Zhou pointed to a few inconspicuous weeds, "These are also Purification Plants, that’s why I remember them clearly, but they don’t have any medicinal or edible value."
Si Yuting stepped forward and stopped near a shallow patch of grass.
"It was in this spot," Si Yuting looked around and said seriously, "Previous experiments found that most Insect Clan prefer eating Energy Plants, it’s likely it was eaten."
