The Marshal’s Wife is Wild -
Chapter 280 - 279
Chapter 280: Chapter 279
Qu Tong sized up the twenty or so people before her, and if she didn’t know Rong Chengjue, she might have thought they were another group of Star Thieves.
"Did the Seventh Prince also come for 5 million Star Coins?" Qu Tong asked knowingly.
Rong Chengjue waved his guards to stand down and sneered with disdain, "If you come back to the Kasa Empire with me, I can give up the 5 million."
Qu Tong understood. Rong Chengjue indeed came to rescue the Pharmacist, but his rescuing was either out of a desire to return a favor or to directly take the person to the Kasa Empire.
She heard that among the people captured by the Black Spider Star Thieves, there was a Senior Alchemist.
"In return for saving your life, how about sharing some intelligence?" Qu Tong suggested, hoping to strike a deal.
After all, the elixir was something she had voluntarily given away; if the money couldn’t be retrieved, she had to reap some benefits.
Besides the news she got from the Star Network, she didn’t know the actual situation.
Seeing how well Rong Chengjue’s men were hidden, she assumed they had been scouting the area for quite a while.
Rong Chengjue’s deep gaze moved over Qu Tong’s cool expression, and he handed her an iPad-sized smart screen.
The smart screen’s image stabilizer wasn’t very steady, probably because it was a miniature camera secretly brought in by Rong Chengjue’s men.
After carefully searching, she soon saw Xiaoguang and Ke Jun squatting by the edge of a discarded metal plate.
Good!
Rong Chengjue had already roughly explained the situation.
"There are about one hundred and twenty Star Thieves in total, all gathered around the spacecraft. Aside from the Star Thief leader, Du Biao, who is on the verge of a Mental Outburst, it’s estimated there are 40 S-rank or above, most of whom are fugitives involved in various crimes. Among the more than 150 people who were intercepted, less than 40 remain after the killings these past few days, but the pharmacists are still alive."
Qu Tong glanced at Rong Chengjue’s icy expression and felt a chill in her heart.
"How many people do you have?"
Rong Chengjue seemed to laugh, "25."
Qu Tong frowned, no wonder Rong Chengjue didn’t dare to act rashly; the gap was not a small one.
"Including Rong Yueqing, 26," Rong Chengjue added.
Following Rong Chengjue’s gaze to the smart screen in her hand, Qu Tong’s pupils widened slightly, "Are you crazy? You’re letting Ms. Yueqing go undercover for you?"
"She wanted to go herself," Rong Chengjue said nonchalantly.
Qu Tong pursed her lips, at a loss for words.
She looked at the screen again and realized that among the thirty or so people left, most were women and children; there were only two adult men.
One was Ke Jun, and the other was a man dressed in a blue and white uniform; it wasn’t hard to deduce his status as a driver from the logo on his chest.
Perhaps they were captured late and had not yet been dealt with.
"When do you plan to act? I can coordinate with you."
"Is that so?" Rong Chengjue’s smile didn’t quite reach his eyes, "Let’s wait until those pharmacists suffer a bit more."
Qu Tong: "..."
She had nothing to say to Rong Chengjue’s cold-blooded detachment; after all, on many occasions, she herself lacked the compassion for people who were not critical to her.
Before she arrived, more than a hundred innocents had already died at the hands of the murderous Star Thieves, and all she could offer was her condolences, nothing more.
The more the pharmacists were tormented, the more grateful they would be after being rescued, and the greater the benefits Rong Chengjue could gain.
Since Rong Chengjue didn’t ask for the smart screen back, Qu Tong kept it and continued to watch.
The Star Thieves seemed to be discussing something; they hadn’t moved to kill anyone else, which somewhat relieved Qu Tong.
The Star Thief leader, Du Biao, was a fierce-looking strong man with dark skin, bulging arm muscles, and a blinded eye. The ruined eye wasn’t covered; the slit was much smaller than the other eye, revealing a cloudy white eyeball beneath, which was somewhat frightening.
He ordered a Star Thief, who was missing half an ear, to drag a Pharmacist over and beat him mercilessly.
Qu Tong watched in silence, but the sheer brutality of the beating was evident, even without sound; blood had been drawn from the eyes.
The Pharmacist went from struggling at first to begging for mercy, and from inside the collar of her undergarment, she tremblingly took out an elixir and handed it over to the drug lord.
The drug lord took the elixir, casually snatched the Pharmacist’s Space Button, and kicked her, sending her flying away.
The person who had just been violent cursed and kicked the Pharmacist a few more times. She passed out and was woken up by a Star Thief grinding on the back of her hand with his foot.
This should be bad enough, right?
That must be the Senior Alchemist.
Qu Tong went to see Rong Chengjue, but didn’t notice when Rong Chengjue had moved next to her, his face accidentally brushing against Qu Tong’s hair as he turned.
Qu Tong frowned and pulled away.
Rong Chengjue also frowned, seemingly very dissatisfied with Qu Tong’s actions.
Qu Tong handed over the smart screen: "Aren’t you going to make a move now? It will be even harder to deal with Du Biao once the Mental Outburst is over."
Rong Chengjue stood with his hands behind his back and did not take it, still staring intently at Qu Tong.
Thinking Rong Chengjue was unsure, Qu Tong circled an area on the smart screen: "I can hold these people off, including Du Biao."
Rong Chengjue glanced at the screen and then at Qu Tong, slightly startled.
The people Qu Tong had circled were all Du Biao’s right-hand men, with more than a dozen of them, a combined strength that even Rong Chengjue could not match.
"Wait a bit longer."
Qu Tong didn’t know what Rong Chengjue was waiting for, but she might not be able to wait.
The Star Thief with a missing ear actually picked up Xiaoguang with one hand and headed towards the spacecraft.
Ke Jun stepped forward to block him but got his left leg broken and was kicked away, trying to speak, but blood spewed from his mouth each time he opened it.
The people around, having seen the Star Thieves’ methods, were only filled with fear, and no one dared to help.
Xiaoguang struggled continuously, turning red due to the lack of oxygen, with a clear red mark forming on his strangled neck.
The camera shook, now focusing on Xiaoguang.
Qu Tong just happened to catch the lewdness in the eyes of the Star Thief with the missing ear.
Qu Tong felt nauseated and unconsciously gripped the smart screen tighter.
Rong Chengjue noticed Qu Tong’s reaction and looked at the screen, puzzled.
Without waiting for Rong Chengjue to come closer again, Qu Tong stuffed the smart screen into Rong Chengjue’s arms.
"I have to go there now."
Leaving that behind, Qu Tong hurried off.
Rong Chengjue watched the tortured people on the screen and guessed that Qu Tong must have come to save them this time.
Qu Tong immediately summoned her Mecha and flew over. Given the situation, she could no longer care about the others, she could only try her best to take Xiaoguang, Ke Jun, and Rong Yueqing away.
As Special Abilities couldn’t be used on a Mecha, Qu Tong flew above the spaceship and retracted her Mecha, using vines to wrap around the ship’s top and landed smoothly beside Ke Jun.
"Sister Ali."
Qu Tong heard Rong Yueqing’s soft call.
But at the moment she couldn’t afford to respond, while the Star Thieves were still unresponsive, the vines shot out from her wrist with spiritual power, piercing directly through the chest of the man with the missing ear, and then quickly retracted, snatching Xiaoguang back.
"Who’s there!" someone shouted angrily.
The Star Thieves immediately went on guard, and those inside the spacecraft rushed out.
Qu Tong glanced at Ke Jun struggling to get up, and took out a box of medical supplies from the Space Button, ordering coldly: "See if there’s anything you can use."
Xiaoguang, yet to recover from the shock, was holding his neck, coughing.
