The Marshal’s Wife is Wild -
Chapter 182 - 181: That is My Wife
Chapter 182: Chapter 181: That is My Wife
Well-behaved, sensible, occasionally displaying a hint of cleverness.
Investigation led to nothing, so it was temporarily set aside.
Yuting emerged from the medical room and instantly saw Qu Tong in the square.
Sitting aside and chatting with a soldier, a serene smile on her face.
Yuting accessed the holographic brain to check the Legion’s recent schedule, then issued a command to all members.
Turning around, he headed for the training room.
On the way, he encountered Xiong Lie who was wrapping a bandage around his arm.
Yuting furrowed his brows and asked, "What happened?"
"Sai Pu, that brat, scratched me. Luckily it’s not too serious," Xiong Lie grunted, clenching his teeth.
Yuting nodded and then asked, "Did you get a physical examination?"
"Sai Pu wasn’t cooperative at all. He almost smashed the detector. Just now, while attempting to draw blood, I got scratched. The results should be out, but I haven’t checked them yet."
As they spoke, the two walked together to the underground training room.
The door to the training room opened, two soldiers inside standing guard, Sai Pu was confined to a control room at the very back.
Yuting walked up to the machine and picked up the test results.
As he expected, Sai Pu had an SSS-rank physique and had already awakened his Special Ability. However, the machine failed to identify what the ability was specifically.
Yuting dismissed Xiong Lie and the others, then approached the detector. He entered a security code, scanned his iris, called up the mainframe’s highest authority, and placed the recent test report into the genetic database for comparison.
To his surprise, the Empire’s genetic database had no information on Sai Pu.
An illegal resident.
Yuting exited the management interface and allowed Xiong Lie and the others to enter, inquiring about some matters.
When he learned that Sai Pu had sneaked into the kitchen to steal food and wanted to stick close to Qu Tong, he understood something.
No wonder Sai Pu specifically demanded the food from his Space Button, not someone else’s.
Every member of his team had more food in the Space Button than he did, but Qu Tong’s Energy Fruit was something only his Space Button had left.
Yuting ordered the door to be opened and went in by himself.
Upon seeing Yuting enter, Sai Pu didn’t even throw him a glance, continuing to sit on the iron bed with his legs curled up, spacing out.
Yuting didn’t mind, and approached Sai Pu, asking, "Where are your parents?"
Sai Pu glanced at Yuting, "Dead."
His tone was so nonchalant it was as if he spoke of someone else’s parents.
"What was your parents’ status? Why didn’t they issue an identity for you?"
Yuting knew that Sai Pu was smart, so he didn’t think there was any issue with asking a child just over five years old these questions.
Sai Pu snorted and did not reply.
Yuting was not in a rush. He sat down in front of Sai Pu, pressed down on his shoulders with both hands, forcing him to face him.
"It’s okay if you don’t talk. Then, according to the Imperial Laws, illegal residents are to be detained for over five years," Yuting said in an even tone, with a cold aura spilling out around him.
Sai Pu tried to break free the way he had done before, but as he moved his arm, it was immediately restrained by a powerful spiritual force, and he could only glare resentfully at the icy man before him:
"Don’t try to fool people. Illegal residents clearly only need to pay a fine of fifty thousand, and getting their identity information sorted within a week is enough."
"Huh, you even understand the laws," Yuting gained another piece of information.
"So where will you get the money?" Yuting said with a half-smile.
"I..." Sai Pu fell silent.
He indeed had no money now, no money to pay the fine, which really meant imprisonment.
He had ways to make money, but with this man watching, it was definitely not an option.
Seeing Sai Pu’s spirit waning, Yuting loosened the grip on his shoulders, yet still kept a psychic guard up.
"If you explain things clearly and stay in the Legion, I’ll have someone handle your identity information," Si Yuting said.
It was clear that a person with SSS-rank physical constitution and unknown identity had to stay here.
"Who would want to stay here with you!" Si Pu’s eyes swiveled as he spoke with a slightly softened tone, "If you let me stay with my sister, I might consider it."
"You explain first, and then I’ll ask her for you."
"Why should I?" Si Pu wasn’t going to be fooled; he had been tricked into coming here before with similar promises.
"The ’sister’ you’re talking about is my wife," Si Yuting said with an inherent confidence and pride in his voice.
Si Pu snorted contemptuously, "In name, but not in reality."
Si Yuting’s eyes narrowed.
After a moment, he continued the previous topic: "If you like Energy Fruit, staying here can satisfy that desire as well."
Si Pu glared at Si Yuting, "I just want to stay with my sister. Have her come over and I’ll talk to her myself."
"Then you can keep waiting," Si Yuting stood up and said indifferently.
He then instructed the guard soldier to give Si Pu one tube of Nutrient Solution from the logistics department each day.
Listening to Si Yuting’s words, which were deliberately spoken loud enough for him to hear, Si Pu turned his head away, his eyes filled with disdain.
Si Yuting didn’t linger any longer and left the training room.
As he passed the main hall of the base and saw Qu Tong basking in the sun, he didn’t disturb her but returned to his own room and activated his smartbrain.
The desktop was filled with theoretical course videos of first-year students, which Si Yuting organized into a folder. He then opened the military affairs system to take care of his own business.
About one or two hours later, the door lock opened automatically, and a knocking sound came from the entrance.
Without looking up, Si Yuting said, "Come in."
Qu Tong walked in, her footsteps light as she paused in front of Si Yuting’s desk. Her eyes swept over the bed before she decided to stand and wait.
Si Yuting only glanced at Qu Tong when she walked in, remaining busy with his work.
He didn’t make Qu Tong wait too long, about a minute later he shut down the smartbrain.
Glancing at Qu Tong, he stood up from his seat and made room for her, saying, "Sit down."
He then had an assistant robot bring another chair from next door.
Qu Tong, of course, didn’t refuse and sat down, even plucking a cherry tomato to eat.
Si Yuting fetched some tea leaves from the drawer, brewed them with hot water, and said to Qu Tong while preparing the tea, "Thank you for today’s matters."
Qu Tong raised her eyebrows, "You actually believe that?"
Si Yuting discarded the first brew and said nothing, neither affirming belief nor disbelief.
He reheated water, steeped it again, and poured the tea into a smaller cup. Once the temperature was right, he presented a cup to Qu Tong.
Qu Tong had also seen people make tea in her previous life, and watching Si Yuting do it was quite pleasant, giving her a feel of an iron fist in a velvet glove.
Qu Tong took a symbolic sip and then set it down on the table.
She didn’t like tea; it was too bitter.
"My internship ends tomorrow," Qu Tong said.
Si Yuting looked at the tea Qu Tong had barely touched and spoke calmly, "No rush, there will be a Guard Soldier selection tomorrow, and you can pick."
Qu Tong repeated with confusion, "Guard Soldier?"
Si Yuting brewed another cup of flower tea for Qu Tong and added sugar.
He took the opportunity to explain the matter of the Royal Family’s Guard Soldiers to Qu Tong.
In short, members of the Royal Family all had their own confidants, and women who married into the Royal Family would have their own after a year as well. They could choose from the Imperial Palace Guard or from the Legion.
Qu Tong hadn’t reached a year yet, but because she had previously offended the Alchemist Association and they were worried about her safety, she was temporarily allowed to choose a few people from Si Yuting’s Skywolf Legion to protect her.
