Chapter 173: Chapter 172: I Didn’t Say No~
Qu Tong looked behind Si Yuting and didn’t see Wen You; instead, Si Yuting’s assistant robot hovered in midair, carrying a brain chip and a stack of documents.
Qu Tong was briefly stunned, but it seemed that Si Yuting wanted to come in.
After hesitating for a moment, Qu Tong still put on her usual sweet smile, stepped aside, and let Si Yuting enter.
"Your Highness, please come in."
As Si Yuting stepped into the room, the assistant robot—either acting on its own or under Si Yuting’s command—flew to the desk, extending its little clamps to place the brain chip and documents onto the table.
Seeing that Qu Tong was still standing, Si Yuting frowned slightly and said in a deep voice, "Go to the bed."
Qu Tong: "!!"
What’s going on?!
A little person inside Qu Tong’s heart was screaming—this was too...
She might have acted boldly and initiated contact before, but that was under the certainty that Si Yuting would not do anything to her.
Even with a bit of mischief, she knew Si Yuting disliked being touched, so she did it on purpose.
Though they were indeed married, she hadn’t thought about... those things yet.
Qu Tong’s thoughts raced, yet she saw Si Yuting walk to the table and sit down on a chair.
Qu Tong: "..."
Now her face turned red, flustered.
With Si Yuting’s cold and abstinent expression, what on earth was she thinking about?
This realization calmed her down, and she obediently curled up back on the bed, waiting for what would happen next.
Why would someone who usually didn’t want to get too close to her suddenly come over today? Was there something going on?
Qu Tong watched as Si Yuting turned on the brain chip and picked up a document, her mind full of question marks.
She took the opportunity to send a message to Wen You.
[Where are you?]
Wen You: [Didn’t I call him over for you?]
Qu Tong: [??]
What the heck?
Qu Tong’s brain froze for a second, then she realized something, her expression shattering bit by bit.
Oh my God... who asked her to call Si Yuting over?!!
She just knew it!
Qu Tong: [Go read my message again carefully?!!!]
There could be ambiguity, but if she was looking for Si Yuting, why would she message her?
There was no reply for a while on the other end; they must be checking the chat history.
Wen You: [Ahahaha! I was wondering why you didn’t talk to him yourself!]
Soon another message followed: [It’s all good, isn’t it? Take the chance and make a fait accompli. I’m rooting for you, Tong Tong.]
Qu Tong was furious: [Make a lampshade out of it, why don’t you! Scram!]
Absolutely unreliable.
Sitting aside, the disregarded Si Yuting had been watching Qu Tong for a while now.
Since Qu Tong’s light-brain was in privacy mode, all he could see was the lit screen, not its content.
She must be talking with someone, her expressions rich in variety: one moment staring blankly, puzzled, the next clenching her teeth in anger and embarrassment, even sitting up to reply to a message.
Quite adorable.
Qu Tong slapped her light-brain shut and only then did she embarrassingly realize Si Yuting was watching her...
She reflexively blurted out, "Your Highness, aren’t you going to sleep?"
As soon as the question was out, she wanted to slap herself in the face.
What was she even saying?
Wasn’t this an implicit invitation, a blatant hint?
Si Yuting looked at his little wife’s expression of regret and felt quite good, the corners of his lips curling slightly, "You go to sleep first, I’ll stay with you."
Si Yuting’s voice was like the chords of a cello, remarkably melodious and yet without a hint of flirtation.
And that was just what Si Yuting did; after speaking, he withdrew his gaze and busied himself with his work.
Qu Tong watched Si Yuting quickly immerse into his work, opened her mouth, but ultimately didn’t disturb him.
She admired Si Yuting’s serious and stern demeanor while he worked, the dim light of the wall lamp scattering across his sharply defined face, casting layers of depth and detachment.
The virtual keyboard was silent. One could only see Si Yuting’s fingertips fluttering swiftly.
It might be some highly confidential task, or perhaps out of concern not to disturb her, Si Yuting had enabled privacy mode, visible only to himself.
Qu Tong let out an almost imperceptible sigh, withdrew her gaze, and turned on her own light computer.
Si Yuting’s fingers paused for a fraction, a glint in his icy eyes sending ripples across them, but for only a moment before returning to tranquility, his fingers tapping away once again.
Qu Tong clicked on the communication app to see how Xu An and the others were doing, only to find the group silent.
Even the usually lively Fei Wenxing and Cheng Yao hadn’t spoken up?
She wanted to ask but feared disturbing their rest, so she could only let it be.
With an extra person in the room, and such a strong presence at that, Qu Tong found it hard to fall asleep.
After browsing the Star Net for a while and berating, then blocking those who badmouthed her potion and vegetable shops, she finally logged off.
The main star time was 22:30. She glanced at the desk where Si Yuting’s one hand was marking something on the smart-brain, the other holding documents, his brows deeply furrowed.
Qu Tong decided to download the teaching videos of Zhu Jidan from the last two days from the academic system and watch them.
This time there was progress—she managed to listen to almost an entire lesson.
When Si Yuting closed his smart-brain, more than an hour had passed, and the room was so quiet that only Qu Tong’s very shallow breathing could be heard.
On the white bed, the light of the light computer flickered on and off. Qu Tong was turned to the side, revealing just a bit of her hair, with one leg stretched out on top of the blanket, her sleeping gown lifted to her knee, exposing skin so white it was almost dazzling.
Si Yuting glanced at her just once before shifting his gaze away, gathering up the smart-brain and documents, ready to return to his room.
He stood up and took another look, then noticed that Qu Tong had almost buried her entire head in the blanket.
Hesitating for a moment, Si Yuting approached the bed, reaching out a hand to pull the blanket back slightly for Qu Tong.
Just as his hand touched the blanket, the person underneath turned over.
Qu Tong’s hand latched onto Si Yuting’s wrist, and as her other hand was about to chop down, she recognized the person before her.
Si Yuting!
In an instant, Qu Tong withdrew the hand she had raised halfway, her eyes brimming with confusion.
Si Yuting had not anticipated Qu Tong’s sudden movement. Pulled by her, his body tilted down with the movement, and his palm landed right on Qu Tong’s turned... chest!
Qu Tong: "..."
Qu Tong looked down to see that beneath the silky top, while her bosom had developed a fair amount since her arrival, it was not particularly perky.
Si Yuting’s broad hand created a slight indentation, leaving her unsure whether to be embarrassed by her small size or indignant at being violated.
What was he doing sneaking up on her in the middle of the night? This habit of hers wouldn’t be easy to break.
Si Yuting’s hand trembled almost imperceptibly and then withdrew methodically, stepping back two paces from the bed.
Qu Tong saw this and raised an eyebrow, surprisingly composed.
That is, if one ignored the fleeting awkwardness in his eyes.
Qu Tong sat up in bed, grabbed the blanket in front of her, looked up at Si Yuting, her eyes twinkling with a teasing smile,
"Your Highness, could you give a heads-up next time? I never said no~"
