The Marshal’s Wife is Wild
Chapter 160 - 159: A 15 Million Lesson

Chapter 160: Chapter 159: A 15 Million Lesson

Facing Qu Tong’s puzzled look, Master Yan added, "Thunder Fire Stones are exclusive to the Royal Family, mostly used for military needs. Isn’t your friend the Princess Consort?"

Qu Tong got it and nodded, "Then, Master Yan, let’s add each other as friends. I’ll send it to you once I get it."

"If I weren’t so old, I would criticize your flirting skills as being outdated. How much trouble can running an errand be?" Master Yan joked half-seriously.

Qu Tong thought Master Yan was declining and withdrew his hand, "Then I’ll come find you once I find the raw materials. Can you make the other items first?"

But Master Yan actively brought out his light brain, "Let’s add each other. An SSS-rank Mecha isn’t that easy to craft. What I mean is, it’s better for you to come and adjust it personally."

"Oh, okay!"

With a "ding," they added each other on their light brains.

Disassembling a Mecha was easy, but assembling one was not so simple.

Master Yan was quite nice. Seeing Qu Tong waiting around bored, he allowed her to play in the virtual pod.

Master Yan’s virtual pod was even higher grade than those at their school. It was spherical in appearance, with more space, more selectable scenarios, and a higher level cap.

The school’s S-rank virtual pods, considering the students’ strength, could only select up to level seven Star Beasts and a small number of high-grade individual members of the Insect Clan. Master Yan’s virtual pod, however, could select both level eight and nine Star Beasts, not only offering high-grade mass-attack Insect Clan but also Endless Mode.

Qu Tong directly linked her silver Mecha bought at the Underground Fighting Arena, first picking a recommended level seven Star Beast, an easy victory.

Qu Tong quickly finished the fight and exited, then reselected a level eight Star Beast and switched the scene to the Storm Center.

Before fully entering the scene, a thunderstorm struck alongside a loud noise, causing Qu Tong to shiver involuntarily, her finger inadvertently touching the Endless Mode at the bottom right of the virtual screen.

Qu Tong marveled at how Master Yan’s virtual pod was different; the scenes were recreated so realistically.

The sky was covered with dark clouds, and the ground was swept with rolling sands. The sand-laden wind scraped against her face like cutting blades, feeling just as real, while occasional arm-thick lightning bolts struck from the cloudy sky, and clusters of bright lights flickered within the clouds, crackling as if dragons fought above.

Following a whale-like long cry, Qu Tong saw a Star Beast flying in the sky, large in size, resembling a cross between a fish and a bird. Its ray-like pectoral fins had a row of holes that glowed blue.

Qu Tong rapidly summoned the Mecha for combat.

She was very pleased with how this Mecha performed.

Whether it was Mech from the school virtual pods or those rented at the Underground Fighting Arena, they all had a certain stiffness, and the control didn’t quite feel as one with the mind.

This Mecha was different; it was very smooth, and its design was quite ingenious, suitable for aerial combat with a strong sense of power, without feeling cumbersome at all.

Indeed, an SSS-rank Mecha suited her better.

The Star Beast swept its long tail, and Qu Tong quickly leaped aside.

The moment she landed, the Mecha’s arm swung out, revealing a silver laser blade, and she charged at the Star Beast. The laser blade came swinging down, but the Star Beast didn’t dodge or avoid, blocking the attack with its hard shell.

Qu Tong persisted, and after a series of battles, she finally found the Star Beast’s weak point—its back.

The Star Beast fell heavily to the ground, its body turning into a pool of data that dissolved away.

Qu Tong stood waiting for the virtual scene to end, but unexpectedly, two more Star Beasts emerged from the eye of the tornado.

Qu Tong originally thought this was just part of the scene, waiting for it to exit, but then she saw the two Star Beasts charging towards her.

Qu Tong furrowed her brows and dodged a second before the attack reached her.

Qu Tong didn’t think too much about it and continued to kill the Star Beasts.

From two, to four, to six...

The silver Mecha darted across the sky, and star beasts kept tumbling down, turning into data and disappearing. Qu Tong was finding it increasingly difficult to cope and knew something was wrong with the virtual pod.

Just when Qu Tong felt she was about to exhaust her spiritual power and be automatically logged out, the scene glitched before she could react—with strange red lights flashing, the figures of the Star Beasts flickering in and out, and the whole environment starting to collapse. Qu Tong could even hear a faint alarm.

Before she could understand what was happening, a pain in her head yanked her back to reality.

As soon as she emerged, she smelled a scorched odor as if it was coming from inside the machinery, the alarm blaring in her ears; in front of her, the high-definition screen had frozen into blocks. Qu Tong hastily detached the connectors on her hands and opened the pod to get out.

With a "fizzle," the big screen, along with the indicator lights on the virtual pod, went dark simultaneously.

A bad premonition flickered through Qu Tong’s heart—she couldn’t have broken Master Yan’s virtual pod, could she?

No sooner had she thought this than Master Yan rushed in, frantic. Seeing the smoke detector’s red light blinking and the virtual pod unresponsive, his face sank into despair.

Master Yan did not glance at Qu Tong; he walked straight to the pod, started the ventilation system, and began to work on the pod. Unfortunately, the screen remained dark, showing no sign of life.

"Let me see your Mecha," Master Yan suddenly turned to Qu Tong and said.

Feeling embarrassed, Qu Tong didn’t decline and handed over her spatial ring to Master Yan.

Master Yan glanced at the letter Y inside the ring and didn’t need to summon the Mecha to know the answer.

Master Yan handed the ring back to Qu Tong, his expression a mix of anger and hurt: "Why didn’t you tell me earlier that you have a Mecha from God Y?"

"I don’t know what God Y is," Qu Tong replied with a wooden expression.

Master Yan scrutinized Qu Tong, as if making sure she wasn’t lying, before he said irritatedly: "Don’t you know that Mechas from God Y are virtual pod harvesters?"

Then, mixing his admiration for God Y with bitter distress, Master Yan relayed the legend of God Y to Qu Tong.

God Y was a mysterious master in the Mecha world who had only appeared online in the past decade.

God Y only designed Mechas ranked S and above, each one being a limited edition that many people dreamed of owning.

But in the past two years, no new S-rank or SS-rank Mechas from God Y had appeared.

Mechas from God Y could bring out a higher level of strength in their pilots, especially in virtual pods, even potentially elevating their rank by one.

As a result, the virtual pods would consistently overwork and, after some time, would just break down completely.

Qu Tong was utterly speechless—she didn’t know about this at all.

Ignorance was one thing, but Master Yan didn’t intend to let Qu Tong off the hook, decidedly stating: "An SSS-rank virtual pod, there are only about a dozen throughout the Empire, selling for 30 million. To replace a processor costs 15 million. Will you be paying in full, or would you prefer installments?"

Qu Tong: "..."

It had been a while since she’d last paid a hefty price for a lesson when she first arrived. This lesson was truly costly, wiping out her recent gains of over 14 million, and she still needed to cough up hundreds of thousands more.

Once Master Yan received the money, his gloom lifted somewhat, and he even consoled the now sullen Qu Tong: "A Mecha from God Y isn’t cheap, but considering you have one, you’re probably not hurting for money, right?"
