Chapter 113: Chapter 112 Too Much Thinking
Fortunately, Si Yuting was busy with official duties, and after greeting her, he returned to his study.
Leaving Qu Tong to face the enthusiastic Empress and butler.
The Empress held Qu Tong’s hand, repeatedly stroking it gently.
Qu Tong’s back was rigid, and goosebumps were about to form on her body; she desperately wanted to pull her hand back.
She really wasn’t accustomed to such intimate contact with others.
Thankfully, Butler Chi served some coffee just in time, which allowed Qu Tong to finally free her hand.
"Tong Tong, we have to go to the Star Beast Zone in a couple of days. The conditions there are not good. Do you want to stay in the palace with Yuting for the next two days?" the Empress asked softly.
Qu Tong took a sip of coffee, neither agreeing nor refusing, but deferred the decision to Si Yuting, "I’ll follow His Highness’s wishes."
"Yuting’s opinion is not important; he should listen to you," the Empress corrected.
From the Empress’s actions and mannerisms, it was clear that the Emperor truly doted on the Empress Dowager.
However, her relationship with Si Yuting was only superficial; if they really were to enter the palace together, his cooperation was necessary.
Qu Tong sent a message to Si Yuting, and his response was that he had other matters to attend to and couldn’t go, telling Qu Tong to enter the palace with the Empress.
The Empress was unwilling to disturb the couple’s alone time, thus she returned to the Imperial Palace by herself in the afternoon.
She also took with her the grapes that Qu Tong had brought back from Luyi Star.
Whenever she had nothing to do, Qu Tong would go to the yard to tend the vegetables she had planted earlier. She had brought back Osmanthus branches from Liuluo Star and planted them in the corner of the garden; they had taken root and grown new branches.
Carefully infusing a hint of Special Ability, the Osmanthus branches sprouted two new side shoots.
In the yard, cucumbers were planted, and two of them had already produced long, slender cucumbers, which Qu Tong picked and planned to make smashed cucumbers for dinner.
Considering Si Yuting was there, Qu Tong prepared three dishes and one soup for dinner: stir-fried mushrooms with pork slices, corn stewed with ribs, smashed cucumbers, and stir-fried leafy greens.
All were simple home-cooked dishes; elaborate dishes were time-consuming, and Qu Tong didn’t make them often.
Seeing that Si Yuting hadn’t come out of the study yet, Qu Tong sighed inwardly, thinking that with great power comes great responsibility.
She divided a portion, intending to have the butler take it up, but the butler declined, saying, "His Highness doesn’t allow me in when he is working."
"Oh, then put it in the thermal container," Qu Tong said, not picking up on the butler’s hint, and started eating with her chopsticks.
The butler was anxious, carrying the dishes and dilly-dallying.
Then, the butler had a sudden inspiration, took out his light brain, and sent a message to Si Yuting: [Your Highness, the lady has made dinner. Would you like some to be sent up?]
The reply came swiftly: [The door is not closed.]
The butler immediately grinned from ear to ear, took the food out of the thermal container, and with a wink and nudge, said to Qu Tong, "His Highness said the door is not closed; the lady can go in."
Qu Tong gave Butler Chi a dubious look, but since it was only a matter of a minute or two, she didn’t dwell on it much.
Qu Tong carried the tray upstairs and knocked on the door.
A cold and stern voice came from inside, "Come in."
Qu Tong opened the door, saw a rack by the entrance, neatly placed the tray with food on the rack, and said she was leaving.
Seeing how quickly Qu Tong came back downstairs, the butler was stunned: "That was quick, wasn’t it?"
Qu Tong rolled her eyes: "How long does it take to deliver a meal?"
Si Yuting was working; could she really have a casual chat with him?
Si Yuting had assumed it would be the butler delivering the food, and it wasn’t until the soft, gentle female voice faded with the closing door that he realized he had forgotten to say thank you.
Si Yuting finished the bit of work he had, then went to the door to pick up his dinner.
The food was still warm, exuding an inviting aroma.
Actually, he had already had the Nutrient Solution and didn’t need to eat dinner.
But the food Qu Tong made was always capable of arousing one’s appetite, even though he was not particularly fond of indulging in food.
After finishing the meal, Si Yuting had the nanny robot take the dishes to the kitchen, and he returned to the bedroom.
Having washed up, Si Yuting leaned back in his chair with his head tilted upwards, he looked outside at the evening sky, it was eight o’clock according to the main planet’s time, and the sky had already turned completely dark.
Thinking of his little wife’s earlier initiative, Si Yuting couldn’t help but press his brow, an unusual trace of worry tinting his normally stern face.
Only when he heard the tap tap tap of footsteps coming upstairs did Si Yuting get up and walk towards the door.
Qu Tong was holding a glass of kiwi juice, a straw in her mouth, meeting the gaze of Si Yuting who had just arrived at the bedroom door.
Dressed in a white dress, Qu Tong had her wet hair loosely hanging at the back of her head, clearly she had just taken a shower.
Si Yuting frowned involuntarily, hesitating how to begin speaking.
Seeing Si Yuting frown, Qu Tong felt puzzled and looked down at the kiwi juice in her hand, she tentatively offered, "Your Highness, would you like some? I had the butler prepare it, there’s more in the kitchen."
"No need."
And then, the atmosphere between the two quieted down.
"Then, Your Highness, I’ll go to bed first. I have to return to the university tomorrow," Qu Tong said with a slight smile.
Seeing that Si Yuting had no reaction, Qu Tong understood it as consent and went back to her own room.
Si Yuting watched as Qu Tong closed the door to her room, his expression unreadable. He had thought...
He gently rubbed the palm of his hand, Si Yuting also went back to his room and closed the door.

The next day, Si Yuting got up early out of habit and spent an hour in the estate’s underground training room before coming out.
After showering again and sitting on the living room sofa, having spent half an hour on his light computer, Si Yuting’s brows grew increasingly furrowed. He asked the butler beside him, "Does she always sleep this... well?"
Butler Chi, maintaining his focus, explained on behalf of Qu Tong: "Madam usually doesn’t have much to do, so she tends to sleep in late, plus she doesn’t have classes this morning."
Si Yuting gave Butler Chi a faint glance and stood up to return to his study.
Qu Tong woke up at nine o’clock, disturbed by the communications.
Just after she washed up and came downstairs, she was embraced in a bear hug by Wen You, who raced over from the airborne vehicle.
"Tong Tong, I’ve missed you so much!"
Qu Tong was a full 12 centimeters shorter than Wen You, and with Wen You’s strength, she nearly got squeezed unconscious.
Fortunately, Wen You’s hug didn’t last long.
After catching her breath for a few moments, Qu Tong glared at Wen You in annoyance.
"Wen Dazhuang, could you be a bit more gentle? Your sister-in-law is delicate, you better be careful or the boss will deal with you," Cheng Feng followed Wen You down from the vehicle.
"Sister-in-law, hello," Cheng Fing greeted Qu Tong with a smile.
Qu Tong nodded in response and looked at the flying vehicle behind them, "Are you guys back to serve as instructors too?"
"Yes, don’t worry, with me here, no one will be able to bully you," Wen You extended a hand, wanting to sling it around Qu Tong’s shoulder, but this time she quickly dodged.
"Can you guys really protect me from those who bully me?" Qu Tong raised an eyebrow.
Wen You shook his head, "That, we can’t, but we can still pull some strings, like revealing their locations, hehe."
"Do you often come to instruct?" Otherwise, how could they be so familiar with the process.
Cheng Feng answered before anyone else could, "It’s usually Xiong Lie and Wu Yue that come often, it used to be whoever lost a duel had to come, but this year is different. To protect you, sister-in-law, I am the victor who emerged from our duels among us."
