Chapter 29: Warning

Well, Adeline did successfully infuse the water with healing powers, she just had to be careful not to use too much force. Her little hands held onto the glass of water tightly as she slowly walked up to her father’s study. He was going through so many documents he felt a headache coming.

"Dad!"

"Come in!"

He saw his daughter carefully waddle up to his desk making sure not one drop spilt.

"For you." She smiled. This should help with his fatigue. It also was a great business pitch. Magic water... It can help improve the functions of the body, decrease stress and increase overall health.

She rubbed her hands together, it was time to make money. She thought of starting small. She would distribute this among the knights and help strengthen them.

"That’s strange..." The Marquess could clearly notice the difference in his body. He looked at his daughter who looked very pleased with herself.

"Hehehe. I infused the water with healing powers."

"You can do that?!" He got up immediately. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. This was completely unheard of. The only healing water that existed was in the Holy Temple, and it would never be sold to anyone. People had died trying to get it. The Marquess thought just like her and imagined so many scenarios where he could help his people. But alas, it was a pity he couldn’t show his daughter off proudly.

"I know what you’re thinking Dad. Wouldn’t this help the knights who are injured from protecting the territory?"

He fell deep in thought. The thought did cross his mind. The number of monster attacks at the borders has been increasing rapidly. Not only the number of attacks but also the sheer volume of the monsters. The knights had been trying their best but there were many casualties as a result.

He thought of testing it out on a small amount of people first. He didn’t want to overwork his five-year-old daughter either. It would be a big burden on those little shoulders.

Adeline trodded along the hallway to find Aaron, she wanted to see how well he was doing. After all, she did strike him with her healing powers. The Goddess did say that she was on par with the heroine, Annora. So, she should be able to heal most of the injuries, she could also revitalise people from the inside.

"Aaron! How do you feel?"

Aaron was surprised to see his sister there. She missed a lot of classes so she should be making for it now, just like he was doing. Still, there was something suspicious. Her question made him think of earlier that day when he fell down out of nowhere and woke up fully energised. She definitely had something to do with it. Just look at her sneaky smile, she couldn’t hide anything, could she?

"Linny, did you do something?

She giggled, it worked! It had the effect that she hoped. She was happy that she was being helpful. She finally felt like she fit in. Alaric was a genius, Aaron was a swordsmanship prodigy and she had healing powers! Finally!

After having a good chat with Aaron she cheerfully walked back to her room. She learnt that not only did he feel energised, but most of his training scars were gone! Just how powerful was she?

Once she was in her room she picked up the pen and started writing to her new friend.

"Dear Benedict, I would love to visit the Northern Duchy, I look forward to meeting you. I hope you send that invitation as soon as you get this letter!

Yours friendly, Adeline Kendrick."

She was too forward in the letter but it had to be done. The Northern Duke did request people from the temple to help with his wife’s situation. He even made a considerable donation. Unfortunately, it did not work. Maybe if Annora had reached full sainthood she could have brought Benedict’s mother out of the coma... It was possible but not certain.

Now that Adeline had such strong powers, she could try her luck. What was better than saving the Northern Duchy? Saving the Duchess. Her motivation was as strong as ever. Plus, she couldn’t see that sweet boy go down such a dark path. His innocence truly moved her and she decided to help him.

"If he plunges a sword into me even after I saved his mom, I swear to God!"

"Yes~"

As soon as she said the word ’God’, the Goddess showed up.

"Oh, right on time," Adeline said with enthusiasm.

After a few seconds of awkward silence, the Goddess finally spoke.

"Who are you?" Her voice was full of suspicion.

"What do you mean?"

"The Adeline I know never greets me that warmly. You are too kind, who the hell are you?! Gimme back that brat."

"..."

It was no use being kind to this Goddess, Adeline almost regretted being ’kind’ to her.

"Ah you rolled your eyes, you ARE the Adeline I know. What’s up, other than me of course."

"Was that supposed to be funny?" Ha ha ha, Adeline laughed in monotony, the Goddess is ’up’ in heaven.

"I hear you planned to cure Benedict’s mother."

Her ears perked up immediately, "You told me to change the plot. Here I am."

"Hmmm." The Goddess hummed in agreement. "But remember, the more you change the plot, the less you can rely on your memory of it."

With that, the Goddess disappeared immediately leaving behind a ball of stress that is Adeline. Her warning was too ominous.
