The Mage of Primordial Chaos
Chapter 582: Examinations' Conclusion

Immediately, A.R.X.A. began the simulation, and right from the start, it was already very difficult. I didn't know what her intention of doing this was—either she was trying to further emphasize she was going to be on my side and break the regulations of the exam (she couldn't report the results of this exam if she altered it like so), or she simply had such high confidence in my abilities that she chose to begin with this level right from the beginning.

Unfortunately, her estimates weren't even remotely close to what I was truly capable of.

Pulling out my Chaos katanas, I flashed out of reality for a brief moment before returning to my original spot and original position. To the untrained eye, it seemed like I never even moved in the first place, but in the time of a blink, all the drones surrounding me were split in half and collapsed onto the white ground before they could even shoot their lasers, shattering into nothingness.

"…" A.R.X.A. was silent, seemingly unimpressed, and sent in the next wave without any hesitation. I smirked and met them with ease, cutting them down one after another like a serial killer on the loose.

"If these things are all you have, I can do this forever," I taunted, twirling my blades around. "Come on. Send in your best."

"… Hmph. Don't get cocky," A.R.X.A. stated in her cool voice, and proceeded to send in the next wave. This time, however, they weren't as simple as drones anymore—it would seem my taunt worked, unexpectedly. For a robot, she was quite surprisingly easily irritable.

This wave of drones were more like mechas than anything, much like the Hex I'd faced down in the underground city of Atlantis. Unbeknownst to her, however, these sorry excuses of replicants were nothing compared to how powerful the real Hex were. They shared similar bodies and techniques and speed, but that was about it. What made the Hex Praetors deadly truly was their ability to cognitively think, and their knowledge in combat. They had the experience to learn as they fought, observing their opponent's moves and adapting accordingly.

These fake, simulated copies? They were just brainless machines, through and through. Sure, without the necessary skills, one would easily be overpowered by these things, but I had the power to both outspeed and outpower them.

As I cast a Blessing Element spell on myself to boost my physical capabilities, waiting for the perfect moment as the two machines closed in on me from either side, I suddenly ducked, and slid underneath in between the metal legs of one of the mechs. Then, stabbing one of my blades into the back of the mech I slid underneath, I swung my body up using it as a hinge, before pulling it back out and slashing the back of the mech's headpart in a myriad of cuts, back and forth, horizontal and vertical. Thousands of cuts, in the blink of an eye.

Such was the demonic, terrifying speed Chaos-enhanced spells could grant me, along with my base physical prowess.

Without even pausing, I immediately went for the other one, right after the first collapsed to the ground and shattered into the void. Luckily for me, as the first one fell, its massive blade ended up striking the other one, granting me a perfect opening to strike.

With no hesitation, I slammed my two blades into the second machine's single red optical nerve, and charged the katanas up with powerful red lightning. In a bright flash of red light, I blitzed through the machinery, landing on the ground across from it before brandishing my blades.

The sound of two explosions erupted behind me, and the corner of my lips turned up into a smirk as I grinned smugly.

"Anything else, my dear cold and calculating female robot?"

"… Hmph."

With a snort, A.R.X.A. continued spawning in the next wave, mech upon mech, drone upon drone—and she didn't seem to show any sign of stopping.

"W-Woah there…" I muttered, realizing I'd tipped her off now. Still, there was no going back, so I prepared to fight.

One after another, I cut the machines down, and one after another, A.R.X.A. continued to relentlessly send more and more. It had become more of a test of endurance and patience at this point rather than skill and strength, and just for reference's sake, as previously mentioned, in this virtual world, I had infinite stamina.

Before long, I had gotten bored of slicing the same machines up over and over again, and holstered my weapons.

"Oi, A.R.X.A. That's enough, don't you think? We can go on and on, and I'll never feel tired thanks to this place's special traits. This isn't helping either of us, is it? If this is the extent of the strength of the enemies you can send my way in this simulation…"

"I do have stronger enemies," A.R.X.A. stated. "Tons of them. However, unfortunately, they will cause too much of a ruckus if I were to… alter the simulation in this method. As a result, I am unfortunately restricted to only using quantity. After all, I am still managing all the other Elites' examinations as we speak."

"Oh, right… I forgot about that," I muttered, scratching my head. "Oh well, we'll continue this some other day, then?"

"Yes. We will."

"And as for the results of my exam…" I prompted, waiting for a response.

"Worry not. I will keep my promise. No one will find out about what happened here, not even Sylvoir with her Terron Records. This is a secret, just between you and me."

"…" I sighed. If her voice wasn't so deadpan and emotionless and if I didn't know better, I would think she was hitting on me. Fortunately, I was far beyond that naive kind of thinking, and was promptly sent out of the virtual realm by A.R.X.A.

Still, to think she was the one administering these exams… it makes me wonder just what the other Founders would be responsible for here.

With that in mind, I exited out of my VR capsule.
