Chapter 987: Chapter 966: Fell Ill

The servants of the Yin Family, seeing their young master getting along well with their group, lowered their guard. In a swift move, Bai Shan pulled the person into the carriage. By the time they reacted and surrounded it, Yin Huo had already been pulled up.

Daji blocked them, while Bai Erlang grabbed Manbao. Once she climbed onto the carriage, he immediately jumped up too, and turned back to shout at the Yin Family’s servants, "What’s the problem, what’s the problem, we and your young master are classmates, what’s wrong with going home together after school? Move aside, hurry up."

The abandoned Liu Huan was revitalized, his whole being excited. He shoved the book basket he was carrying into his servant’s arms and squeezed into the carriage himself, using his hands and feet to climb aboard. He also helped Bai Erlang to scold the servants of the Yin Family, "You clumsy fools, try moving forward again, which master here can you touch?"

The miserable cry of Liu family’s servant echoed, "Young master—"

"What are you yelling for, I’m just going home with my classmates after school, are you stupid? Why don’t you follow the carriage?"

During their brief interaction, Daji had already taken a horsewhip and fiercely cracked it in the air, causing the servants of the Yin Family to step back in fright, then he immediately jumped onto the carriage pole and drove the carriage forward.

Daji’s face was fearless, as if ready to collide with whoever was unlucky enough to be in the way. The servants of the Yin Family in front didn’t dare risk their lives to block the way and dispersed quickly.

So the carriage burst through the tight encirclement.

The leader stamped his foot and said fiercely, "What are you waiting for, go chase them!"

So those who were supposed to drive chased, and those on foot ran after the carriage.

The Liu family’s servants also followed.

The students at the door of the Imperial Academy, who were watching the commotion, were stunned. It took them a moment to recover, then they exclaimed, "My God, did Bai Shan and the others abduct Yin Huo?"

"Are they out of their minds?"

"It’s over, it’s over, should we go inside and inform the teachers?" After all, there were four students from their Imperial Academy in that carriage.

The carriage suddenly picked up speed, and everyone inside was jostled together. However, Daji’s driving skills were particularly good. After breaking through the encirclement, it stabilized gradually, and Manbao and Bai Shan straightened up, casually stabilizing Yin Huo.

Bai Shan first turned to Manbao, "How did their family cause trouble at Jishi Hall? Are you alright?"

"I’m fine; it was just some fake patient causing trouble, so I dealt with it appropriately."

Erlang then asked, "How did you and Daji come to pick us up?"

"I was worried they might block you again, huh, Daji can only fight, not argue. You two against three might not win an argument, so I came to help you. Little did I know, they didn’t come; what a pity."

Liu Huan stabilized himself too and excitedly asked, "You’ve abducted Yin Huo, what do you plan to do with him?"

Manbao, Bai Shan, and Bai Erlang turned to look at him together, then turned again to look at the quiet Yin Huo shrinking in the corner.

Yin Huo, cautiously watching them, swallowed and shrank even more.

Manbao gently patted his shoulder to reassure him, causing him to tremble all over.

Naturally, Bai Shan couldn’t admit to something illegal like abducting someone. He said irritably, "What abduction? We just wanted to invite him for some snacks and incidentally to take him home, alright?"

Manbao nodded, pulling out a box and opening it. Inside, there were still warm snacks. She handed out one to each person and stuffed one into Yin Huo’s hand.

Holding the snack, Yin Huo stared blankly, his face a picture of confusion.

Manbao reassured him, "Don’t be afraid, we just felt uncomfortable being surrounded and talked at by your servants and so many people, so we pulled you into the carriage. See, aren’t we going to your house now?"

Yin Huo cautiously peeked out through the curtain, saw the familiar street outside, and slightly relaxed.

Manbao warmly invited him, "This is osmanthus cake, Bai Shan’s favorite. Try it and see if it’s tasty."

Yin Huo glanced at Manbao, then took a small bite.

Manbao, propping her chin with her hand, looked at him and asked, "Yin Huo, do you not have any friends?"

Yin Huo’s eyelids trembled, and he looked up at her briefly before shaking his head.

Liu Huan sneered from the side, "How could someone like him make friends? He’s so delicate, crying at the slightest thing..."

Yin Huo lowered his head.

Manbao glared at Liu Huan, "Shut up, I wasn’t asking you."

Liu Huan stared at Manbao in surprise; it was the first time someone had spoken to him so rudely.

Manbao had already turned back to Yin Huo, her expression softened and her voice became gentler, changing as quickly as her grandfather.

In a soothing voice, Manbao consoled Yin Huo, "Don’t listen to him. What are friends? Friends are those who understand each other. I think you’re quite nice."

"He’s nice?" Liu Huan exclaimed, "Do you have any idea how delicate he is? He cries if he falls, cries if someone speaks loudly, cries if there’s a slight argument. And if he cries, his family, especially his sisters, come and trouble us..."

Yin Huo’s eyes reddened again, and tears involuntarily began to spill out.

Seeing this, Manbao quickly leaned in to take a closer look, stopping Liu Huan’s mid-sentence as he stared at Manbao with wide eyes.

Manbao scrutinized Yin Huo carefully, and as she gazed at him strangely, he slightly raised his eyes to meet hers, causing his tears to fall.

Manbao reached out to wipe his tears, asking softly, "Yin Huo, are you sick?"

Liu Huan clutched his chest; even though he disliked Yin Huo, he thought Manbao was being a bit too harsh.

Seeing Yin Huo’s eyes filling with tears again, Bai Shan interjected calmly, "Don’t misunderstand, she’s a doctor. She means that literally. Are you physically ill?"

Realizing the ambiguity of her question, Manbao nodded vigorously, "Yes, yes, that’s right. I just wanted to know if you’re sick."

Yin Huo looked at them, tears falling.

Bai Erlang, growing anxious, exclaimed "Ah," and pushed Manbao away. "They’re asking if you’re feeling unwell physically?"

Manbao and Bai Shan nodded vehemently, that was exactly what they meant.

At this, Liu Huan lowered his hand from his chest.

Yin Huo shook his head, finally speaking, "No."

His voice was very soft; had Manbao not been close, she wouldn’t have heard him.

Yet Manbao grew more convinced that he was ill and suggested, "I’m a doctor; how about I take a look at you?"

Yin Huo stared at her, motionless.

Manbao then said, "Don’t be afraid, it’ll just be feeling the pulse and checking the tongue coating."

After a moment, Yin Huo extended his hand.

Manbao, pleased, placed his hand on her knee. Seeing this, Bai Shan moved it to his own knee, telling Manbao, "This way is better."

Bai Erlang rolled his eyes unapologetically.

Liu Huan alternated his gaze between Manbao, Bai Shan, and Bai Erlang’s eye roll, seeming to understand something and thus scooted back, distancing himself a bit from Manbao.
