Chapter 334 - 323: Warning

Chapter 334: Chapter 323: Warning

Because she needed to fulfill a request, Manbao carefully sorted the Ligustrum seeds, branches, and soil brought back by Zhou Wulang. She then wrapped a portion of them in a large leaf to send to Doctor D. Manbao glanced at the name, which was a string of strange symbols that she couldn’t recognize.

Through the system’s text, Keke would translate it into characters familiar to Manbao. But aside from the usernames, like the "Manbao" written beneath the chicken leg, Keke could guarantee that not many people would recognize these characters.

Doctor D clearly recognized the name, for she received the Ligustrum seeds Manbao had packaged so nicely. Thinking she had many things of her own, Doctor D wanted to establish a good relationship and thus started chatting with Manbao by email.

"You’re called Manbao? That’s a unique name. May I ask your last name?"

"Zhou," Manbao did not hide her surname. Keke only mentioned not to let others know her age. She was also very curious about people from the distant future and took advantage of the fact that no one was seeking her out to hide in the system and chat with Doctor D. "My name is Zhou Man. And you? I don’t recognize your name."

"That’s the script from Azure Planet. My father is from Azure Planet, but my mother’s ancestors came from ancient Earth, so I know Chinese characters. You can call me Doctor D."

This was the second friend Manbao made through the system, and she was delighted. "Hello, Doctor D! Keke said that those who are called ’Doctor’ are very learned individuals. You must be very impressive, right?"

Although this straightforward compliment made Doctor D somewhat embarrassed, she was somewhat flattered and replied modestly, "I’m alright, just someone who has read a few more books. By the way, who is Keke?"

"Keke is my system."

"What an interesting name. There’s only one system per world, and in the universe, there are countless planets and overlapping timelines. The number of worlds that exist within them is unfathomable. Every person who receives a system is considered to have defied fate. Mr. Zhou, you’re quite lucky as well."

Manbao, embarrassed, responded, "My learning is shallow; I’m not deserving of being addressed as ’Mr.’"

Keke: ... I forgot to tell the host that ’Mr.’ doesn’t mean what you think it does.

Evidently, Doctor D didn’t fully understand the languages of ancient Earth and continued speaking along her own lines, "How many years have you had your system, Mr. Zhou?"

Manbao quickly cast off the inappropriate title and responded without any guile, "Four years now."

"What exactly do you collect? Plants?"

"Animals can be collected too. Keke said that aside from intelligent beings, all other creatures are within my range of collection."

But as she was young, unable to fish in rivers, catch beasts in mountains, or trap birds in the sky, digging up various plants was her forte.

"Apart from these species, have you collected any rare ones? I mean species worth over a thousand points."

Manbao was about to answer when the system beeped with a long tone. Keke’s emotionless electronic voice resounded within the system, "Warning: User ID D1567 has exhibited behavior that may infringe upon the interests of the Encyclopedia and subsystem hosts. Issuing first expulsion warning and a three-day mute."

Manbao’s mouth fell open, and then there was no more activity in her inbox, silence within the system.

After pulling down the emails and reading them over and over, Manbao, slow to realize, asked Keke, "Is she a bad person?"

Keke didn’t answer the question but instead said, "The Encyclopedia and main system are responsible for protecting the information of all worlds and ensuring the safety of hosts from each world."

Manbao stroked her chin and pondered the questions, "Then I shouldn’t ask for information about your world either?"

Keke’s electronic voice dropped an octave, solemnly stating, "It is recommended that the host only exchange information about the target entities themselves."

Manbao understood this statement.

Regretfully glancing at the inbox, she said, "I didn’t even get the chance to ask about how to plant Ligustrum seeds. I was hoping to have a chat and make friends before asking, but who knew she’d be driven away."

Manbao perked up and immediately asked, "Keke, have our points been transferred?"

Keke pulled up the total points for her to see.

Seeing the additional 3,500 points, she rolled happily on her bed and then jumped off, put on her shoes, and dashed outside. She decided to go play for a while before coming back to do her homework.

Smoke curled up from the chimneys of Qili Village as each household began to prepare dinner.

And various delicious aromas floated out, more fragrant than usual, with the Zhou Family’s kitchen smelling the best.

Manbao went straight there, where Sanya was standing with Wulang and Junior Ms.Qian outside the kitchen door, peeking inside. Before long, a hand stuffed a little fish into each of the children’s mouths.

When Manbao squeezed in, she saw the Second Sister-in-law and Ms.Feng frying the little fish.

Ms.Feng carefully controlled the heat, allowing only a small ember to glow under the pan, while Junior Ms.Qian carefully flipped the little fish, and a basin beside them was already quite full.

Junior Ms.Qian, seeing Manbao, pointed to the basin and said, "Your big brother and Third Brother scooped them from the river. Want to try a couple?"

Sanya moved forward, leading his younger siblings, and Junior Ms.Qian scolded, "You’ve already had enough; what if you get a stomachache from eating more? Go on out and play."

Manbao picked a fish for herself and stuffed one into each of her nephew’s and niece’s mouths before commenting, "There’s no salt."

"With so many little fish, it would take a lot of salt. I haven’t added a grain; it’s just a snack for when you’re peckish," Junior Ms.Qian replied.

As she spoke, she started to get worked up, "I told your big brother to catch a big fish, but instead of landing a big one, he brought back all these little fish. They waste oil and salt and aren’t even as good as minced up to feed the chickens."

At this thought, Junior Ms.Qian stopped and thoughtfully looked at the little fish in the pot, "Right, they can be used to feed the chickens."

Hearing this, Sanya immediately shouted, "I don’t want to feed the chickens, I don’t want to! Mom, keep them for me to eat; I’m not picky."

Junior Ms.Qian snapped, "Of course you’re not picky when they’re fried with so much oil. I’m not either, but we’re out of oil at home. Do you know how expensive a pound of pork lard is?"

Sanya didn’t know, but he understood his little aunt’s word was the most effective in the house, so he looked at Manbao with drooling anticipation.

After quietly nibbling another fish, Manbao blinked at Sanya and hesitated before saying, "Then let’s give the fried little fish to Second Brother to sell in town? If they sell, we can buy pork lard to cook oil, and then we’ll have oil to fry little fish."

"Would anyone buy this?"

Manbao replied, "They taste better than vegetables. People buy vegetables, so why wouldn’t they buy little fish?"

It made sense.

Junior Ms.Qian looked down at the little fish in the pan and then glanced at the remaining fish in a nearby bucket, conceding, "Alright then, we’ll have your Second Brother give it a try tomorrow. If it doesn’t work, then from now on I’ll mince all the little fish they bring home to feed the chickens."

Junior Ms.Qian said fiercely, but her movements flipping the fish became more gentle; now that they were meant to be sold, they had to look more presentable.
