Chapter 51: Alvaric’s Arrival

Chapter 51: Alvaric’s Arrival

The corpses of the royal soldiers were left in the desert. It was done on purpose, as Raiga didn’t dare make a firm decision. However, the forces from Chillg city had been brought back to the city.

The families left behind by the fallen soldiers would be supported for the next ten years. It was compensation for their deaths in battle.

Their bodies were also treated with proper respect, like any demi-human who passed away. A proper funeral ceremony was held. No exceptions were made.

They were honored like heroes who had died on the battlefield—but that was not the case for the soldiers of the Valanthria royal army.

Their corpses were carried by the Ant Bees into the middle of the desert and left there to rot or be eaten by Crawlers. No one cared at all.

Especially Clard and Gramn. They were thrown out alive, but their bodies were completely paralyzed. That meant they could feel every inch of their flesh being devoured by tiny creatures.

They died after seven hours under the scorching desert heat. They died in trauma.

The main door of the city lord’s residence in Chillg creaked open slowly. The air turned cold instantly, as if all the heat had been sucked out of the room.

Heavy footsteps echoed through the stone corridor. Each footstep brought with it a weight that pressed on their chests. The three of them—Raiga, Tamae, and Brukk—stood still, frozen in place, waiting for that figure to arrive.

And finally, Alvaric appeared in the doorway.

He had come. The aura around him pulsed and pressed, like the weight of fury. His eyes were red—filled with vengeance.

Raiga slowly stood up. "Alvaric... what is it?" he asked quietly.

"I’m not here to talk," Alvaric said coldly.

Tension filled the room. All three of them swallowed hard. Each of them felt a dreadful premonition.

"I’m going to the capital. I’m going to destroy them. One of you—take me there."

Tamae and Brukk turned to Raiga. Raiga didn’t respond immediately. He could sense Alvaric’s resolve—firm and desperate. But that request... was no simple matter.

It was extremely risky. Alvaric could very well be killed by the royal generals.

Raiga shook his head slightly. "That’s not a place you can just go to. It’s the central power of the entire Valanthria kingdom. Even if you’re strong, there are tens of thousands of soldiers ready to erase you, and the seven main generals possess powers beyond comprehension."

"Just take me there!" Alvaric snapped. "If I die there, then you’ll be free. No need to rebel, and you won’t suffer my wrath."

Raiga opened his mouth, wanting to speak—but no words came out. He knew very well that what Alvaric said was true, but somehow, his gut and his instincts told him otherwise.

He looked into Alvaric’s eyes—and realized that the man before him could no longer be stopped.

"I won’t ask twice," Alvaric said quietly, but with heavy pressure. "If no one wants to take me, I’ll go on my own. One way or another, I’ll find the path."

Silence followed.

If Alvaric knew the location of Valanthria’s capital, he would’ve gone by himself already. He had come here only to find a guide.

Tamae stepped forward. "I’ll take you."

Raiga turned quickly. "Tamae, don’t be reckless—" He shook his head firmly. "You should know how powerful the kingdom of Valanthria is. This is suicide."

"I know what I’m doing," Tamae said firmly.

Brukk stared at Tamae for a long time. Then he nodded slowly.

Raiga sighed. "Are you really sure?"

"Of course not, but I’m going anyway."

Raiga wanted to say something else but held himself back. He took a long breath and finally nodded.

Alvaric looked at Tamae for a moment. No words of thanks, no smile. Just a slight nod before he turned around.

"Get ready. We’re leaving soon. Prepare a horse carriage for me!" Alvaric ordered.

Raiga nodded. "Understood."

Everything Alvaric requested was fulfilled by Raiga. He even provided gold coins and food for the journey. It would be a long journey.

Now, the two of them had left. In front of the city gate, only Brukk, Raiga, and a few gate guards remained.

Brukk turned. "Isn’t this good news?"

"You mean if Alvaric dies?"

Brukk nodded.

Raiga was silent for a moment. He had thought the same, but for some reason, his instincts whispered no. He was confused too.

Raiga turned around and walked toward the horse carriage. Once inside, Brukk climbed in as well and sat opposite him.

"How strong do you think Alvaric really is?" Raiga asked.

Brukk shook his head. "I don’t know. We’ve never seen him fight seriously, but I’m sure he’s very powerful. Maybe he’s on par with one of the main generals," he replied.

Raiga wasn’t surprised. He had suspected that as well. The energy radiating from Alvaric’s body was immense.

So immense, in fact, that his aura alone could kill enemies. Without needing to fight.

"If he’s only equal to one general... then that means he’ll die in the capital?"

Brukk nodded. "That’s what I think too."

Raiga sighed deeply. He looked out of the carriage window. The people of Chillg were going about their usual routines.

He couldn’t imagine this city being attacked and destroyed. The thought alone made his chest tighten.

He turned back to Brukk. "What about the Demon Girl? Is she as strong as the generals—or even weaker?"

Brukk shook his head. His face slightly pale. Just imagining the Demon Girl angry was enough to make his skin crawl.

"I’m not entirely sure, but if she unleashed her full power, I believe the capital would be destroyed—including the generals and the king himself. That Demon Girl is the true embodiment of terrifying strength," Brukk explained.

Raiga’s eyes widened. He was shocked, but didn’t show excessive emotion. Based on the literature he had read, the Demon race was the most powerful and the first inhabitants of this world.

They were so strong that the entire world once bowed to them.

It wasn’t surprising that the Demon Girl he saw might defeat the generals—but defeating all the main generals? That was quite a shock.

"But I feel like there’s something restraining her power—like it’s sealed."

Raiga nodded. "Ah, that explains why her magical energy feels unstable. Maybe it’s the effect of that seal," Raiga said.

"I think so too."

"So the one we really need to watch out for is that Demon Girl. If she gets angry, we’ll all be wiped out."

"But sir..." Brukk looked seriously at Raiga. "That Demon Girl seems obedient to Alvaric. If he gives the order, then we’ll be destroyed too."

Raiga nodded in understanding. "You’re right. Both of them must be watched carefully. I’ll do whatever it takes to protect this place."
