Chapter 77: Chapter 63 Celebration_2
Red Bee watched him warily, "What did you say?"
"You’re making history’s finest, greatest Spell Talent Holder become a chef? Your soul is weeping for your foolish brain."
"What did you say!"
Red Bee jumped up, with red light flickering in her eyes, which had turned into strange vertical pupils.
But Annabella stopped her.
"Alright, junior sister, don’t get angry with that idiot."
"You still don’t understand that the Ancient Undead of this caliber, the top Fire Holders, have such vast Spiritual Energy that it recovers very slowly. Their power is of a Strategic Level and cannot be used lightly. The Military War Department has already warned him multiple times not to misuse his Spiritual Energy, but the Ancient Undead says he’ll go crazy if he’s not allowed to use it, so Dalin could only swallow his anger."
Green Grass Town’s Ryan shrugged his shoulders, oblivious to the brown syrup dripping on his robe, "Anyway, it only happens once a month, plus there are the empty months when the Goldenworth Star doesn’t hold its event. It’s within the limits of tolerance."
As Rod gnawed on a bear paw, he listened to their conversation, feeling as if the steel gates to the new world had opened a little more before him.
Convinced by everyone’s persuasion, Red Bee finally sat down.
Once she let down her guard, she began to eat voraciously, stuffing a lamb leg into her mouth with each hand, completely devoid of any image.
Beowood, bear-like in stature, his eyes lit up, and he praised, "Good girl!"
At the table, it was actually Rod, who considered himself to have a significant appetite, who ate the least. The bear paw in front of him was bigger than his head, and after eating half, he could no longer continue.
"Don’t waste," Beowood said gruffly, not minding at all, reaching for the half-eaten bear paw in front of Rod and throwing it into his mouth, swallowing it in two bites.
You are the real gluttons.
Rod silently retorted, then suddenly remembered something and asked in a low voice, "Senior, where does all this food come from?"
Beowood, now preoccupied with a large jar of honey-roasted meat, answered casually: "The meat usually comes from Beast City or Thousand Lake Town, vegetables from the botanical gardens, Mushroom City, Wood City, Barley Village, and there are a few other scattered sources I can’t quite remember."
Rod asked quietly, "Can we rear animals and grow plants here?"
Beowood looked at him with curiosity, "Of course, as long as there’s the Holy White Tree. We spread its seeds, plant its branches, purify the land, cleanse the water, and ignite the Guardian Fire. A land brimming with life is then born. As long as we can withstand the encroachment of Black Fog and the invasion of monsters, a new human stronghold can be quickly established."
Rod’s eyes gleamed, "Then why don’t we go out and plant the flag of flame all over the world?"
Beowood frowned.
"Are you really one of us? Why do I feel like you’ve jumped out of some alternate dimensional space?"
Rod was startled and quickly explained, "I’ve lost some of my memories, and there are many things I’m unclear about."
Annabella, who had been elegantly devouring her food, suddenly chimed in, "Memory loss is a significant sign of a Living Corpse transformation in the infected."
The whole table laughed.
Rod too smiled, but he couldn’t delve deeper into the topic, as he still didn’t know if he had been infected by some unknown entity. He vividly remembered that the Holy Grail at the Sacrificial Altar was hot to the touch.
Red Bee suddenly asked, "Why do you all call the Dean ’the Ancient Undead’?"
Anna let out a snort of laughter, gracing a sip of red tea before speaking calmly,
"Starting twenty years ago, Lord Theodore has been claiming that his end is near. At first, everyone was quite anxious, even an urn was prepared for him, and the Supreme Council specially planned his funeral. But this old fellow just kept getting more spirited, hopping all over the place. As the years passed, every time rumors arose that he was about to die, he would pop up, alive and well, year after year, so gradually, everyone stopped believing and even gave him the nickname ’the Ancient Undead’."
Shines from Apple Town raised his silver fork solemnly, "That’s disrespectful of you. Lord Theodore is the greatest Spell Talent Holder. He has dealt with nine major threats on his own, and he single-handedly killed the Great Demon Wolf Paxil on the northern border. The remains of the Great Demon Wolf are still suppressed under the Silver Oath in the Royal City, and half of our hot water is heated by it."
Rod was taken aback, "The monster can heat water?"
Green Grass Town’s Ryan explained, "The Soul Trait of the Great Demon Wolf Paxil is magma. Its remains constantly exude tremendous heat, like magma. We simply collect and utilize this waste heat."
Rod felt a bit uncomfortable, and so did Red Bee and Annabella.
"Doesn’t that pollute the water?" they asked in unison.
"Of course not."
Shines answered with a hint of pride,
"Its Sealing Array was personally established by Lord Theodore. We never intended to use it to heat water initially, but pure heat is difficult to contain, and doing so would be too costly. It was Lord Theodore who came up with the brilliant suggestion to turn a waste into an output, and now we have so much hot water to use."
Anne from Mushroom City nodded earnestly, "Lord Theodore truly is the greatest Spell Talent Holder."
"Indeed."
Shines stroked his meticulously styled hair.
