The Last King Of Darkness
Chapter 716 - 410 Book of the Future

Chapter 716: Chapter 410 Book of the Future

"This is a soul both fortunate and unfortunate, he has acquired the legendary Heavenly God Throne with ineffable luck, and became the next heir to the Source Heavenly God."

"Unfortunately, his soul was too weak to bear the power of the Heavenly God Throne, and the shattered throne could not endure this slow recovery process. It decided to choose a new master, which was a completely reasonable thing to do."

The blood of Asa flew into the Book of Destiny at an unprecedented speed, his body rapidly withered, and his soul teetered, but the spiritual light in his eyes was brighter than ever before.

The writing in the Book of Destiny slowed down, but the crimson text was still firmly written, stroke by stroke.

"And the great Asa, he is such an excellent candidate. He is a soul formed from ancient malevolence, a product of the evolution of fragments from an abominable Ancient God—immortal, eternal, indestructible. He is a tumor humans cannot excise, an eternal parasite of darkness, possessing unimaginable positions, sufficient to replace this weak and ordinary soul."

Strange spiritual lights flickered on Rod, a mysterious power coiled around him like spider threads, layer upon layer.

The crazed laughter of Asa echoed through the empty cavern.

"Hahahaha, the gasping humans are finally going to perish. Trolian is merely a rut dragged behind the Fire Epoch for a thousand years—it will evaporate like a puddle under the fierce sun, and humans will not leave a single trace in this world. The Dark Age is coming, and I am the harbinger who will open that Gate of Darkness."

Bang!

Asa’s skull violently cracked open, his eyeballs swelling rapidly, occupying half of his face.

A mist of soul peeked out from his eyes and drifted slowly towards Rod.

"Be afraid! Cry out! But you are powerless because destiny cannot be changed!"

But in the midst of the laughter, Asa suddenly realized with alarm that Rod showed no sign of panic, nor any fear or despair. He looked at him with an icy gaze as if looking at a prey, a mere insect.

Within a second, Asa figured out that this was not an act. That lofty indifference, as if wielding the power over life and death, resembled a divine being in control.

A desperate person couldn’t possibly have that expression.

What’s happening?

Asa’s inflated mind slightly calmed down, refocusing his scrutinous gaze on Rod, and shockingly discovered that although the Fate’s spiritual light enveloped him, it did not invade his very essence at all.

Destiny hadn’t changed!

A horrifying thought rose from deep within, and Asa suddenly realized that the Book of Destiny was just a Demi Divine Artifact. Even if it was stimulated by his blood and soul, how could it possibly affect the Heavenly God Throne, which transcended the concept of Divine Artifacts?

Every attempt he had made before had failed, backfiring and even damaging the Book of Destiny. Why would it succeed this time?

No, that’s not right!

Asa suddenly snapped out of it.

Why hadn’t I realized this?

He violently turned his head and only then saw that, written in the book’s crevice at some unknown time, there was a line of small red text.

"Elated with ecstasy, Asa naively thought he could replace the master of the Heavenly God Throne, without realizing it was an impossible task. But having no choice but to tread this doomed path, he recklessly engaged in a suicidal action."

What?

What is this?

The Book of Destiny has betrayed me? It actually betrayed me?

Fear, despair, anger, disbelief, and more emotions flooded Asa’s heart. He sensed the impending crisis—the moment his soul entered Rod’s body, something extremely horrifying would occur.

"Book!"

He shouted furiously.

"Stop! Stop the invasion! If I die, you won’t fare well either!"

The Book of Destiny showed no reaction, Asa’s soul accelerated towards Rod, an unspeakable fear enveloping him.

"Why? Why is this happening?"

Asa cried out in despair.

"It was I who freed you from the Sagus Ancient City; it was I who gave you my blood and soul. Why would you betray me? Is there a better master than me? If you fall into their hands, you will be torn apart. Quick, stop—"

His voice twisted and deformed, resembling the wails of hell, but the Book of Destiny coldly added another line of text.

"Asa got his wish, his soul essence entered the body he yearned for. If he is lucky enough, he might replace him, but as everyone knows, this is merely a probability in theory."

Dream Realm.

A twisted black soul appeared beneath the Obelisk; unprotected, the soul essence was immediately devoured by the Dream Realm, transforming into a wisp of azure smoke that flew upwards to the Soul Altar and was sealed within the Crystal Wall.

The Book of Knowledge sneered: "I have never seen such a foolish person. The Dream Realm is a grand entity beyond your imagination. Where did you get the confidence to replace its master?"

Rod watched as Asa’s soul roared and thrashed within the Crystal Wall, seemingly seeking to break free from its cage. Surprised, he asked, "He seems to still be conscious."

The Book of Knowledge observed for a moment: "Perhaps his soul is somewhat special; it seems to be an ancient malevolence, his hatred for humanity continues unceasingly. As long as humanity exists for even a moment, he will not truly die. The continual presence of Doomsday believers among humans is partly due to him."

Rod frowned, "What should we do then?"
