Chapter 678: Chapter 395: Humanity Must Triumph
The Spiritual Energy flickered, lighting up the entire Prophetic Hall.
Strange patterns of Spiritual Energy scattered across the sky, and a long thread of Spiritual Energy rose like blue smoke and disappeared into the Void.
Meredith furrowed his brow, his transcendent gaze allowing him to see the thread of Spiritual Energy fork in the Void, one pointing to the sky and the other to the ground.
"Upper Spirit Realm?"
"Underground... the Abyss, perhaps?"
Meredith stared intently at the thread, misty Spiritual Energy gathering from all directions.
The forked thread continued to grow and extend, branching out like tree roots.
But soon, the thread stretching towards the earth was disrupted by an unknown force, coiling into a tangled mess.
The thread stretching towards the sky was even more peculiar—it disappeared completely.
Meredith frowned and summoned all his power.
The entire White Tower lit up, with mist gathering from all around, a stronger force concentrating within the Prophetic Hall.
But it was all in vain.
The tangled thread twisted erratically, and the disappeared thread did not reappear.
The ritual failed.
But the crowd was not too dismayed, the phenomenon in front of them explained a lot.
The most important point was that, whether the Ancient God of Destiny had perished or not, its power still existed.
As for the prophecy’s direction, opinions varied.
Some thought the upward Spiritual Energy thread pointed to the summit of the Dead Ash Mountain Range.
Others believed it indicated the legendary "Cloud City."
Still others thought it was the legendary world’s highest peak, "Goyindo Divine Mountain."
The opinions about the downward Spiritual Energy thread were more unified; most believed it pointed to the Abyss.
But Meredith did not think so.
He believed the upward Spiritual Energy thread pointed to the "Upper Spirit Realm," and the downward thread simply to the "Underground."
A Prophet raised a question, "Master, what is your basis for this belief? Aren’t the upper layers of space and the lower levels of position the standard optimal solutions in prophecies?"
Meredith gently shook his head, "Banduo, this prophecy cannot be interpreted that way. The likelihood of the Ancient God being in the Upper Spirit Realm is far greater than any other place."
"Then why isn’t the downward direction the Abyss?"
"Divine beings seldom venture into the Abyss, and it’s mostly likely that the remnants of a fallen Ancient God would end up in the Material World."
Prophet Banduo hesitated, "You mean to say, the sewers?"
Meredith nodded, "Yes, most likely hiding in the Royal City Sewer, the Doomsday believer Polluter Asa and his Book of Destiny."
Everyone was somewhat incredulous.
"Master, do you truly believe the soul of the Great Sect Leader of the Polluter Sect contains fragments of the God of Destiny’s soul? Is his will influenced by the Ancient God?"
"Is the Book of Destiny made from the soul of the Ancient God of Destiny?"
Meredith slightly shook his head, "I don’t know. We’ll need to find them first to understand all this."
The Prophets found it difficult to accept this theory. In the White Tower, Prophets held prestigious positions along with Stargazers, Tower Tip Observers, and Star Phase Masters, believing their actions influenced Trolian and determined humanity’s future.
It was under their protection that humans had come this far, passing down the torch unextinguished.
In their eyes, the Doomsday believers were as insignificant as ants. Wasting their Spiritual Energy, Inspiration, and Spirituality on such creatures was akin to destroying humanity’s future.
Iyeta saw through their thoughts at a glance and said, "These aren’t just Doomsday believers. They are also related to the Ancient God of Destiny. We are in pursuit of the Ancient God’s secrets, not frivolously crushing ants."
The Prophets’ expressions immediately improved, and they bowed deeply, saying, "We’ll heed the commands of the Master of White Tower and the Great Prophet."
Meredith looked at Iyeta with some relief and continued, "The distortion of the downward Spiritual Energy line proves it’s being interfered with. Some force in the Void is preventing us from discovering its existence. It’s so clear and strong, it proves it must be in the Material World, possibly even close to us."
Prophets exclaimed, "Royal City Sewer!"
They finally understood why their teacher was so adamant that the prophecy’s direction of Spiritual Energy pointed to the Doomsday believers in the sewer.
And according to the principle of asymmetry in prophecies, if the downward direction is space, the upward must naturally be position, higher than the Material World in the Outer Spirit Realm and Upper Spirit Realm.
The prophecy pointed to the Ancient God, and the position of the Outer Spirit Realm was too low, unsuitable for such divine beings to operate.
Thus, only one answer remained.
Everyone felt deeply convinced of their teacher’s wisdom and truly believed in their choice.
"Master," suddenly, another asked, "What about the upward direction? Do we need to pursue its trace?"
Meredith shook his head, "No, the Spiritual Energy line simply vanished in space, proving its position is far beyond us. The existence in the Upper Spirit Realm is beyond our imagination to pursue. Seeking it could be extremely difficult, maybe even inviting terrible disasters. At this juncture, we should not digress. Finding the soul core related to Destiny, completing the Source Prophecy, and discovering the origin of the great disaster is what’s most crucial."
Everyone answered in unison, "Yes, Master."
Rod also smiled, "That’s great, let’s dig those maggots out of the sewer quickly; I’ve had enough of their filth."
Iyeta rubbed his bald head, looking slightly worried, "I need to figure out a way to evade the interference from that wretched book."
