Chapter 586: Chapter 352 Battle of the Source (Part 2)_2
[The Soul of the Starry Knight]
Good!
One is dead!
The light fell, and one Living Corpse Knight had already turned to ash, while another continued to hack at the puppets.
Delight surged in Rod’s heart.
These guys didn’t seem to have any intelligence; they purely acted on instinct.
There’s a chance.
Rod immediately summoned more puppets.
Wood Puppets weren’t much of an expense for him now; he already had many in stock.
Flesh Puppets were a bit more advanced, so there were fewer of them.
In just a moment, a few hundred more puppets joined the battle, quickly stabilizing the situation and holding back the enemy.
Having chosen his position well, Rod fired ten fully-formed Star Shuttles once again, and the second knight also fell.
[The Soul of the Starry Knight]
Finally!
Rod gasped for breath.
To kill these monsters.
It had cost him dearly: one "Soul Defense," over eight hundred "Wood Puppets," and sixty "Flesh Puppets."
On top of the two "Soul Defenses" he had used earlier, he had almost emptied his reserves.
The consumption of Spiritual Energy was also enormous; fully-formed Star Shuttles used up a lot of Spiritual Energy. Adding to that, he owned the Executor gloves that sped up the gathering of Spiritual Energy in his hands, indirectly increasing its consumption.
After firing so many Star Shuttles, even Rod was beginning to feel overwhelmed.
But the opportunity had come, as long as he could call over the First Elder and the others, there wouldn’t be any more danger.
Rod opened his right hand, about to activate the "Spirit Boat," when suddenly, he saw three Starry Knights charging towards him.
Dammit!
Rod didn’t have time to think; he turned and ran.
But the situation this time was much worse.
The three Starry Knights kept flickering in and out of sight, no matter how he changed direction it was useless, and the rapid changes in direction only slowed him down.
It’s over.
A heaviness settled in Rod’s heart.
The only option now was to use the "Undying Spirit," relying on thirty seconds of invulnerability in a desperate fight, there might still be one hope.
But, he had only one "Undying Spirit" left.
Once it was used up, given the current situation, he wouldn’t be able to make another.
Rod really didn’t want to let go.
But the sword light was already whistling toward his face.
No other choice, was he supposed to die and go back?
He no longer had any Divinity, and there was only one Resurrection Stone which also couldn’t be wasted lightly.
No choice left.
Just as Rod was about to close his eyes and retrieve the "Undying Spirit" from the Dream Realm, a loud sound of thunderous wind burst through the air.
A white shadow with flashes of Thunder Light shot forward at an unimaginable speed, pulled out a Great Sword from behind with a backhanded grip, and swung it down.
Woosh!
Rod only saw a flash of a huge white light streaking past him.
The next second, that Starry Knight was already cut in half.
The white shadow turned, another great white light flashed, and another Starry Knight was cleaved in two, the white light’s momentum not ceasing, scattering in a semicircular arc and bisecting the knight behind.
In just a few seconds, the three Starry Knights had been killed.
Damn!
Rod felt a deep pang of loss.
Not a single soul!
What a loss!
The white shadow turned to him, smiling and said, "Hello, first time meeting, my name is Tai Luo."
It was indeed him!
He had already sent out the signal earlier, by counting the time, he should have arrived.
Rod took a look at him; he was tall and burly, with a square face, muscular build, and wielding a giant sword that seemed as big as a door, with a faint white light flickering on it.
"I am Rod."
The white shadow laughed and said, "Is it really you? I’ve heard many legends about you, the youngest new star, the youngest Trolian hero, the youngest prospective Elder, and so on, countless honors. Many people have been using your name to do things; I’ve come across quite a few fakes already, one unfortunate soul was even swindled."
Rod couldn’t help but grimace; he knew all too well that this unfortunate soul was Cilly.
Haha, you’re famous now, and you too, freeloader Lannis.
"It really is me."
Rod hurriedly said.
"I’ve heard your name many times as well."
Tai Luo smiled slightly, "Let’s save the chit-chat for later. What have you found?"
Rod quickly recounted the recent events, omitting some unimportant details.
"You mean the dark source is right ahead?"
Tai Luo’s brows furrowed slightly.
"Are you sure?"
"Positive!" Rod replied, "One hundred percent!"
Tai Luo nodded, "The Spirit Crow Messenger from Storm Castle told me you have the Teleportation Gate ability. Let’s use it now; we need reinforcements."
Rod nodded slightly, and with a thought, the Spirit Boat activated, and the operation in the Spirit Realm began.
He swiftly locked onto Storm Castle, and a square-shaped Teleportation Gate with a frame slowly materialized.
About thirty seconds later, the Teleportation Gate was fully open. From Rod’s perspective, he could see that Storm Castle’s battle situation was not very favorable.
The First Elder Amendo stood high on the wall; fierce gales blew away most of the invading giant Horror Demons, while the few that slipped through were dealt with in turns by cannons and warriors.
But there were simply too many giant Horror Demons, mixed in with smaller ones, exerting tremendous pressure on Storm Castle.
Anyone with eyes could see that the moment Amendo left, Storm Castle would fall.
The appearance of the Teleportation Gate alerted them.
Amendo’s voice immediately came from the other side of the gate.
"Have you found the source?"
"Yes!"
"I can’t leave. Xingge and Iron Beard will support you."
No sooner had the words left his mouth than the Gale thrust the two through the gate from the other side.
Click, the Teleportation Gate closed.
Rod would have to wait until the next lunar cycle ended to use it again.
Xingge jumped up quite unhappily, "That grumpy old man is too rude!"
Iron Beard rubbed his behind, saying in a deep voice, "We must hurry. Storm Castle can’t hold out for long. We’ve found out that the giant Horror Demons all bear a strange Spiritual Energy, which points to the Black Forest. I’m sure that if we eliminate the source, those giant Horror Demons will fall apart."
"Let’s go."
Tai Luo spoke calmly,
"I can feel a certain distortion ahead. Brother Rod is right; the source is right ahead."
He strode into the depths, and a small team of dozens followed quickly behind. This was Tai Luo’s Battle Group.
Rod felt a pang of regret in his heart; it’s a pity my Battle Group members aren’t here, or the fight wouldn’t be so difficult.
"Let’s go."
He repeated and followed the team’s pace.
Iron Beard tugged at Xingge, "Let’s go, Your Highness."
The girl, barely fifteen years old, was still a bit dazed, "Ah, are we leaving now?"
"Yes, Your Highness."
Iron Beard hoisted Xingge onto his shoulder and quickly caught up with the group.
The ensuing battle was largely against the Starry Knights.
The Spiritual Energy of the Starry Knights ranged between Strong Level and Fierce Level. They possessed exquisite Combat Skills, the ability to perform short-range blink jumps, and a strange gravitational power, making them tough opponents.
But in front of Tai Luo, the Starry Knights didn’t play much of a role.
His Giant Sword was his Soul Weapon.
Every swing of his Giant Sword would produce a bright light on the blade, which would spread out in slices upon hitting the creatures and cause extensive damage, often killing a swath of enemies with a single strike.
Rod stayed in the center of the team, continuously shooting Star Shuttles and taking the chance to sneak in a kill whenever possible.
Xingge seemed somewhat listless, but she still emitted Fire Spark, providing them with the protection of fire.
Iron Beard turned out to be the most surprising to Rod; he was from the Starfire Series, and his Fire Spark enhanced close combat capabilities. Despite seeming unimpressive, his actual combat prowess was incredibly strong, second only to Tai Luo, capable of holding off three to four Starry Knights by himself.
But the number of Starry Knights was far greater than Rod had imagined.
The closer they got to that area, the more and stronger enemies appeared.
At first, they could resist, but when the Captain Level Starry Knights appeared, things got bad.
The Starry Knights Captains, whether in terms of Spiritual Energy, speed, or strength, surpassed the regular Starry Knights by a significant margin.
Apart from Tai Luo, nobody could block them.
What was worse, Rod found that more of these Starry Knights were emerging from the ground.
"Something is awakening them!" Rod frowned.
"These Starry Knights were meant to lie dormant underground!"
