Chapter 582: Chapter 351 Battle of the Source (Part 1)
The commanders looked at each other, puzzled. They had intended to ask Elder Amendo to use the authority of the First Elder to request reinforcements from Royal City again.
The situation at Storm Castle had deteriorated to such an extent that the arrival of just one or two High Rank Combatants could no longer reverse their fortunes. They either needed an organized group of High Rank Combatants, Special Level Combatants, or the main army corps for support.
In their minds, only these three options could save Storm Castle.
Yet they hadn’t expected the First Elder to come up with such an unimaginable suggestion.
Tai Luo from Cloud Village was indeed one of the most brilliant new stars in recent years. Since graduating from Jinworth Academy, he had fought across various lands, undefeated through hundreds of battles, slain tens of thousands of monsters, and resolved numerous crises. During the period of the Dark Tides, he stood alone in the Big Bell Tower on the Northern Wall until the Dark Tides receded, holding off countless Corpse Ghosts.
Afterward, Tai Luo was officially awarded the title of "Great Sword." Many called him "Little Aran" in the hope that one day he would become the second Aran of Trolian.
But currently, he was merely a nearly Second Level Combatant.
It was impossible for him to accomplish the task of eliminating the Source within the Black Forest under such dangerous circumstances.
It was even more impossible for Elder Amendo to personally go to provide support.
Without his power, Storm Castle could not withstand the onslaught of so many giant Horror Demons.
Once the remaining Spiritual Energy Cannons were destroyed, there would be no choice but to abandon the castle.
As for Rod, they acted as though they hadn’t heard him at all.
Iron Beard shouted, "First Elder, we can’t do this! We still need to ask for reinforcements; the situation has exceeded our imagination."
Elder Amendo shook his head slightly, "There will be no aid."
"Why not?" Iron Beard glanced at Rod. "The crisis in the Trident River Region has already been resolved."
"Other regions need assistance more urgently," Amendo stated calmly. "Our combat power is still very tight, not loose enough to provide a third round of support for the same region."
"But, but..."
Iron Beard was so anxious that he broke out in a profuse sweat, his square face turning bright red.
"If you leave, we will be overwhelmed by the giant Horror Demons."
Amendo said dispassionately, "With Rod and Xingge here and more than a thousand Elite Warriors inside the castle, it won’t be so easy."
Iron Beard’s face was all wrinkled up.
"Xingge is still young, and her Fire Spark is far from as powerful as that of Elder Qingyu and Elder Jon. Though Rod has many abilities and a promising future, his Absolute Spiritual Power is currently not strong enough to take down a giant Horror Demon on his own..."
Rod quickly said, "That’s right, it’s better if I go, and the First Elder stays to defend Storm Castle."
"No way!" Iron Beard said decisively. "Neither of you can leave! The giant Horror Demons can only be easily killed with your combined efforts. Now, if we call back Tai Luo, and defend Storm Castle, perhaps we can hold out until Royal City is able to send us help."
A captain shouted, "Yes, that’s the safest plan!"
"We don’t have to take any risks."
"Royal City won’t abandon us!"
"Shut up!"
Amendo slammed his hand down, and a wave of air silenced the whole room, suppressing all voices.
"I really want to crack open your skulls and see what’s inside. Do you think I, the Spiritual Power Cannons, Tai Luo, and Rod are machines that never wear out? Outside there are tens of thousands of giant Horror Demons, and even more in the forest. If we don’t eliminate the Source, they’ll never stop. How many can we kill? How long can we hold out?"
His cloudy eyes scanned the room.
Everyone averted their gaze, no one daring to look him in the eye.
"Trolian’s most ancient teachings tell us, never to engage in a limited war of attrition with endless monsters. We don’t know when Royal City will be able to lend a hand. Staying here is a path to certain death."
"This is not the safest plan, but the most unsafe one."
The words of the First Elder completely shattered the commanders’ and captains’ wishful thinking.
They fundamentally feared the Black Forest, dared not venture into it, much less dared to try and eliminate the unknown source of darkness within, preferring to stay within the light of the fire, waiting for someone who could solve all the problems to come.
Iron Beard’s face flushed with both shame and fear. He stammered, "But, but if you go, we’ll soon be unable to hold our ground."
Rod spoke up for the third time, "Let me go!"
Iron Beard glared at him, "You go? How will you kill the giant Horror Demons? Are we going to end up a mess again?"
Rod coughed, "You don’t necessarily have to kill them, just holding them off for enough time will suffice... Elder Amendo can do this very well. The most important thing is, I have a Fire Spark, and I can open a Teleportation Gate to any place I have been before."
"The Teleportation Gate is two-way. If we encounter danger, I can open the Teleportation Gate to teleport me and Tai Luo’s squad back."
"If we find the source of the disaster, we can also open the Teleportation Gate and invite Elder Amendo to come and support us."
Everyone in the room had their eyes wide open.
Iron Beard asked incredulously, "You have this ability?"
Rod smiled, "Of course, it’s not written on my profile?"
Amendo gave him a glance and said indifferently, "It seems you need a thorough re-examination, as many parts of your profile are vague. The name of this Fire Spark is also strange, a white, cloudy substance... it doesn’t seem to have any relation to Space Ability."
