The Last King Of Darkness -
Chapter 541 - 335 Guardian_2
Chapter 541: Chapter 335 Guardian_2
It was like a towering mountain, the center of a terrifying storm, located not far from the former entrance to the Underworld, towering up to the sky and penetrating the earth. It was majestic and unparalleled, affecting and controlling all the ant swarms.
Cilly’s face turned pale, her voice trembling involuntarily, "Do, do we have to fight that thing?"
"Of course not," Tyrion immediately replied. "This is the battle that the great Sir Alan faces. He will kill it, just like he has every time before."
This answer made everyone in the team look much relieved.
They actually knew this, but only after hearing Sir Alan’s name could they feel truly at ease.
But Herman’s face darkened as he said, "We are already finding it incredibly difficult to advance at a position only 5,000 yards from the Insect Queen, the pace is exceedingly slow. The Space Waypoint is just 500 yards away, and if we cannot tag the Insect Queen with it, Sir Alan cannot cross space to reach her."
Tyrion said, "We can gather all the Hall Level’s power and thrust into the heart of the ant swarm like a dagger. As long as we tag the Insect Queen, our mission will be completed."
Herman was silent for a few seconds before saying, "It’s our only option."
However, Guardian Qiuqie’er rejected this tactic in the spiritual communication.
"Commanders,"
Chucher said with a grave voice.
"There are no Strong Level forces in the Trident River Region at the moment. If we concentrate our forces, our rear will be severely impacted and many lighthouses will be destroyed."
Herman frowned, "Then what do we do?"
"I’ll go."
"Can you do it alone?"
"No, but with your help, yes."
"With us?"
Herman’s frown deepened.
Guardians are First Level Combatants, inferior only to Special Level Combatants, they are Transcendents who are half a step into the Domain of Law.
The combined strength of their team didn’t come close to one of Qiuqie’er’s hands.
If it weren’t for the continuous battle and injuries sustained during the operation to hunt the Insect Queen, with just the coordinates provided by Rod, Qiuqie’er could have killed all the Big King Ants alone.
Upon hearing Herman’s doubt, a chuckle was evident on the other end of the spiritual communication from Qiuqie’er.
"Yes, you, don’t forget who is in your team."
Crack, the spiritual communication ended.
Although no one was looking at Rod, Rod felt everyone was glancing at him out of the corner of their eyes.
Without a doubt, he was the most special person in the team.
Guardian Qiuqie’er was referring to him.
Rod’s face remained unchanged, but he was utterly lacking in confidence.
In the battle just now, he had sensed the vast gap in strength between himself and First Commander Herman.
And the gap between him and Qiuqie’er was unquestionably even greater.
"Alright,"
Herman interrupted everyone’s thoughts.
"Let’s advance another thousand yards before Guardian Qiuqie’er arrives."
The crowd responded in unison, "Okay!"
Herman and Tyrion exchanged a glance, both satisfied with the team’s high morale.
But the advance wasn’t smooth; the intensity of the battle that followed far exceeded their expectations.
Within the 5,000-yard range, the Insect Queen’s Spiritual Power Strength rose another level, and the density of the ant swarms also increased, with hardly any gaps to be found.
Under the enhancement of strong spiritual energy, the powerful King Ants rampaged, and Herman couldn’t completely stop them.
The Demonized Ant swarms were even more unstoppable.
In this team, there were only two "front" combatants, Herman and Cilly, and only one "mid" controller, Lannis.
If they couldn’t hold back the ant swarms, the "rear" combatants would be impacted, and their combat ability would be significantly reduced.
Fortunately, Rod was versatile, capable of both ranged and close combat; with a wave of ten fingers, a Star Light Long Sword and a Large Shield in hand, and with a clench of his palm, "Flesh Armor" covered his body. Combined with numerous Wood Puppets and Flesh Puppets, they just managed to hold the line.
With Anna’s single-target forced paralysis and Mephit’s area-wide chilling power, they could still slowly push forward.
At this distance, the Insect Queen’s Spiritual Power Strength seemed to increase a level every few hundred yards, and the King Ants became increasingly difficult to control, requiring the combined effort of multiple people to block. The team had to be extremely cautious in their advance to avoid attracting too many Demonized Ants.
But as such, their speed slowed down even further.
All hearts grew cold, the battle was already so difficult from such a distance.
What would the scene be like if they were within 2,000, 1,000 yards?
After struggling forward a few hundred more yards, it took them over half a quarter of an hour to kill a single King Ant.
Cilly’s sword had notched from hacking, and she panted, "These are just too tough, I can’t take it anymore."
Ryan’s face was pale, "Can we still go on?"
Frank from Mushroom City suggested, "Why don’t we just rush in? Centaurs are very fast."
Anna angrily said, "I’m fast, but I am not quick to die. The strength of this Spiritual Power Field is suffocating me."
Lannister calmly proposed, "Rod can help you breathe..."
"Get lost, you freeloader. I’m pure and untouched, why should I let him take advantage of me?"
"Oh..." Rod reached to pat a horse’s butt and got a hefty kick from Anna.
Everyone laughed, lightening the heavy atmosphere a little.
Taking the opportunity, Herman said, "Let us wait here for Guardian His Excellency."
"Right," Lannister agreed, "Our team lacks a strong Core Level Transcendent, but with Guardian His Excellency’s arrival, our team will undergo a qualitative change."
Cilly grumbled, "Could you be any more shameless? Any team would change qualitatively with a Core Transcendent."
Lannister pretended not to hear, but everyone showed a faint smile, while Rod raised a doubt.
"Is Guardian Qiuqie’er really that strong? These King Ants are as hard as steel plates; even the Guardian can’t kill them easily, can he?"
Before Herman could answer, suddenly, another King Ant charged toward them through the thick black fog.
The immense Spiritual Energy from the Insect Queen bestowed upon it, enveloping its body in a gray-white glow.
With a booming sound.
The King Ant collided with Herman, the powerful Spiritual Shock Wave hit like a freight truck, making Rod feel as if he’d slammed into one.
"Spread out!"
Herman shouted.
The team quickly dispersed, with only Rod and Cilly moving forward; because of the shortage of frontliners, Rod could no longer serve as a backline artillery.
The King Ant shrieked, its Insect Scythe smashed down fiercely. Herman faced it head-on, while Rod and Cilly, one to the left and the other to the right, both raised their hands simultaneously.
With a loud bang, the powerful Spiritual Energy collided, and the rumbling shockwave cracked the ground, sending dust and sand flying within a hundred yards.
Rod felt as though he had been struck head-on by a ten-meter-thick iron rod; his Spiritual Energy churned chaotically, and this was only the residual force; Herman took on the brunt.
Just then, a red lightning bolt tore through the sky, the ground beneath swirling up, and with paralyzing javelins, the formidable King Ant was turned into a stroke victim, a faint coldness flowing between its joints, as if even the air was trying to bind it.
Rod and the others suddenly felt their pressure greatly relieved, and they tangled with it.
However, the King Ant’s Spiritual Defense was terrifyingly tough, and everyone’s attacks seemed ineffective.
Rod’s mind was already leaning towards Frank’s proposal, thinking, "This is just a distance of 4,000 yards. At this rate, it’s impossible to approach within a 500-yard range. We have to charge through."
But Anna’s Absolute Spiritual Power was too weak; in such a dangerous environment, one misstep could leave her dead on the spot.
While hesitating, Herman and Tyrion suddenly shouted, "Guardian His Excellency has come!"
Their voices were full of joy.
At the same time, everyone felt the fire emblem on their collars heat up; a powerful presence was quickly drawing near to them.
Lannister and Cilly shouted at the same time, "Teacher!"
Ryan and Frank called out, "Guardian Qiuqie’er!"
Anna and Mephit said nothing, but they too looked back.
A loud boom echoed, like thunder cutting through the sky, a storm descending, strong winds and tremors hitting their faces; the ground pulsed like a drumhead under a mallet, almost knocking people over.
They turned in amazement to see a burly giant with a huge ax on his back, holding a giant hammer, who had already pounded the King Ant into mush.
Visible powerful Spiritual Energy filled his muscles, making him glow like an illuminated statue, even the malicious Spiritual Energy of the Insect Queen was kept at bay.
A strong, gentle, orderly soul, similar to their own, had taken control of this space.
"The hope for the future."
Qiuqie’er lifted the giant hammer, casually tossed it onto his back, and the King Ant below was reduced to ashes.
"Let’s go deal with the source of this disaster."
