The Last King Of Darkness -
Chapter 509 - 322 Ancient God
Chapter 509: Chapter 322 Ancient God
Outside the Lighthouse.
In the rolling Black Fog, three figures glowing with a reddish hue faced off against a massive black behemoth.
It had a huge abdomen, a slender body, and long mandibles, its entire body covered in highly corrosive material as deep spiritual energy glowed intermittently within.
This was a Demonized King Ant.
The most significant difference between it and the ordinary Soldier Ants was its incredibly strong defensive power and its extremely dangerous Acid Liquid.
Ordinary attacks found it difficult to cause any harm, even though its outer shell was already decayed.
Once its Acid Liquid splashed onto something, it would continuously corrode the soul, damaging the spirit.
If any Combatant were touched by even the slightest bit, at best, they would suffer mental confusion and lose control of their Spiritual Energy; at worst, their soul would shatter, resulting in an untimely death.
This was the most daunting venom, a nightmare for all who battled against it.
But now, the situation seemed a bit different.
The Demonized King Ant frenziedly spewed out Acid Liquid, so much that the green acid even formed a pond on the ground.
And Rod was swimming butterfly strokes in that pond.
Cilly shouted, "Keep it up, Rod! The King Ant is about to run out of Acid Liquid, it’s going to be exhausted soon."
The thick acid slid over Rod like water over ceramic cups and bowls, not causing him the slightest harm, but the pungent odor was still quite uncomfortable. Rod complained, "Isn’t it over yet? I’m going to throw up my dinner from last night."
"Almost there! The King Ant’s Spiritual Energy is declining rapidly, it has already fallen below the critical threshold, and its defenses are weakening fast."
Rod was displeased, he leapt up and executed a perfect somersault with a tuck, completing three and a half rotations before diving back into the pond, and then he switched positions to backstroke.
But he quickly regretted it. The stimulated King Ant violently spewed out chunks of Acid Liquid that slapped against his face, making for a very unpleasant experience.
He wanted to change positions, but Lannister suddenly shouted, "That position is good! The King Ant is spewing even faster now!"
Rod had no choice but to continue backstroking through the oncoming Acid Liquid.
A few seconds later, Lannister shouted, "Now!"
He transformed into a Gale, darting towards the King Ant like lightning. His sharp wind blades easily sliced through the King Ant’s defense, severing its body in two.
At the same time, another silver greatsword crashed down from above, nailing the King Ant’s head to its abdomen.
"No!"
A deafening roar.
"Spare it!"
Cilly and Lannister both instinctively stopped their actions, while a figure leapt from the green pond like lightning, rushed over, and plunged a hand into the monster.
With a fierce pull, he immediately shredded the King Ant’s soul.
Its fragmented body collapsed alongside its shattered soul, and black dust rose from its remains.
Rod exhaled a long breath.
"Good."
But then he immediately widened his eyes, looking at Cilly and Lannister.
"You were just a bit away from killing it! Lighten your blows, dammit! I’ve said it many times before, if conditions allow, the final blow on the monster must be left to me!"
Lannister dissipated the Gale and replied indifferently, "Your Purification ability must have its limits too. Us killing a few monsters occasionally doesn’t have much impact, a bit of Pollution to the soul’s Gaseous Layer is not a big deal, as it’s not the inside of the soul, and we can always cut it away."
Cilly laughed, "Aro is really gentle, taking on the most dangerous work just to protect us from erosion, hundreds of times better than some big phony who doesn’t know better and isn’t grateful."
With a wave of her hand, the silver greatsword whistled back into the palm of her hand as if it were part of her body.
Rod casually asked, "Is that greatsword your Characteristic?"
Cilly gave a mysterious smile, "Come to my room tonight, and I’ll tell you."
Lannister looked nervously at him, but Rod just shrugged his shoulders and continued.
"Let’s go help the warriors. Those Soldier Ants are a bit unusual; they seem to be having a hard time."
Cilly glanced at the Demonized Soldier Ants being besieged by over a hundred warriors and asked doubtfully, "What’s challenging about that for them?"
Lannister thoughtfully said, "Rod seems to particularly enjoy hunting monsters..."
Cilly rolled her eyes, "What’s wrong with that?"
Lannister hesitated, "That’s true... but he seems too diligent..."
"Idiot, do you think everyone is as lazy as you?"
Cilly fumed.
"What are you standing around for? Go help!"
Under Cilly’s tyranny, Lannister could only silently join the battlefield.
But as usual, most of the monsters ended up being killed by Rod.
"Why does Rod care so much about who kills the monsters? Surely there’s some backlash, but without excessive accumulation leading to a qualitative change, this shouldn’t be a big deal..."
Lannister silently pondered.
The warriors’ cheers interrupted his thoughts; they had once again achieved a complete Victory, hunting down this batch of monsters that had invaded the Lighthouse’s line of sight with minimal losses.
They had experienced many such Victories in the past few days.
Just as Rod had promised, they let not a single monster pass.
For the first time, Lannister was witnessing a person with so many peculiar abilities, even though he was from the Starfire Series and had ignited seven Fire Sparks.
But Fire Sparks and Characteristics are different; the abilities provided by Fire Sparks are mostly simple, usually enhancing sharpness, perception, balance, Spiritual Vision, and so on. A few Fire Sparks are deteriorated Characteristics with a single ability, such as recovery, Healing, Enhancement, and so forth.
