The Last King Of Darkness
Chapter 506 - 321: Brightest

Chapter 506: Chapter 321: Brightest

The matter of the Ancient God was momentarily pushed to the back of his mind by Rod; it was not something that could be dealt with now. The most critical task at present was to guard the Lighthouse.

After returning to the Lighthouse, Lannis detailed the current situation to Rod.

Since the opening of the Underworld, the demonized ant-bees had swarmed out, almost drowning the Trident River Region, posing a giant threat to both the nearby front and rear areas.

When the support from the Fire Hall arrived, the situation improved a bit, with the Lighthouse as a stronghold at least not having fallen.

A portion of the Battle Groups had gathered and were now preventing the demonized ants from spreading further.

As the guardians of Lighthouse 20, their primary mission was to stop strong monsters from breaking through the perimeter and assaulting the combatants who were locked in fierce battle.

Lannis said, "Most of our combat clusters are composed of Low Rank combatants, who can form a powerful combat capability through specific battle formations, while Strong Level and above monsters can disrupt these formations, causing massive casualties."

"That’s our main task here, to intercept all Strong Level monsters within the Lighthouse’s line of sight."

"Right," Cilly rarely contradicted him, "We have to hold out until the main strength of the Legion arrives."

Rod asked curiously, "Is our main force that strong?"

"Of course, the sprawling Spiritual Energy within the super-large combat array is a sight to see, with at least Second Level combatants as its Spiritual Energy hubs."

"Once the main force arrives, these ants will be crushed."

Rod blinked; he had never seen a Legion Level battlefield and didn’t quite understand their way of fighting.

But from their tone, it seemed like the main Legion could easily resolve the crisis in the Trident River Region.

"How many such Legions do we have?"

Cilly spoke up first, "There are a total of eight core main Legions, with three from the City Defense Legion, four from the Conquest Legion, and one from the Knight Order."

Lannis nodded his head.

"This is our most core strength, when they are in full force. Anchored by the Fire Son, supplemented by seven Extraordinary Level Guardians, twenty Non-human Level, and fifty Strong individuals, leading 27,000 combatants, this is the supreme combat array they form."

"Seven Fire Sons, each leading one of the seven great Legions, and four Great Knight Captains, each leading the Knight Order, totaling eight core main Legions."

Rod asked with anticipation, "Is this the main force of the Legion that’s coming to support us? Can I meet the Fire Son?"

Cilly said regretfully, "No, it’s not. The crisis at the Trident River does not warrant deploying the core main Legions. Under normal circumstances, we do not gather such an immense force unless absolutely necessary; it’s too powerful, and too unwieldy. We usually don’t need such strong power, even during the Black Tide."

"Our defense area is too large."

Lannis explained.

"Our combat power must be spread over a large area to defend every stronghold, town, and settlement."

"The mobility of combat power is very important. Rationally deploying every ounce of power and maximizing the use of each bit of strength is our basic principle, which is also why the Fire Hall was created."

With a touch of regret, Cilly continued, "We usually deploy the core Legions piecemeal, with the Fire Son most often serving as a separate superpower to support different areas, to deal with various unique Special Level threats."

"Unless a great disaster strikes, we do not gather the core Legions."

Rod felt a bit disappointed; he had hoped to see the legendary scene of the Fire Son in battle.

Cilly paused for a moment before continuing.

"The forces coming to support the Trident River Region this time are from the regular main Legions."

"Although they are regular, their power far exceeds the upper limit of the crisis. These demonized ants, though numerous and relatively strong, with the Ant Queen being a very special kind of monster, are nowhere near as formidable as the forces we’ve encountered in battle before, such as the Dusk Legion, Sigles Insect Man army, or the Giant Troll waves."

She punched the air with her fist.

"Crushing these bugs won’t be a problem."

Lannis nodded and continued, "The problem now is that we must hold on until the main Legion arrives; otherwise, if the Lighthouse is destroyed and the demonized ants cause destruction everywhere, our hard-won progress will be lost, and the expansion will be greatly affected."

"Exactly."

Cilly said, her face filled with worry.

"Our current trouble is a lack of strength. Lighthouse 20 has just over a hundred warriors, with only eleven above Seventh Level. The three of us can only be considered as near Third Level combatants; it’s too difficult to deal with the Demonized King Ant. Those guys have thick skin and shells and can even spit Acid Liquid; they’re incredibly annoying."

Rod finally flashed a smile.

"Don’t worry; with me here, no matter how many of those damned ants come, we’ll kill them all."

Cilly forced a smile, appearing unconvinced.

Lannis said calmly, "Rod, I’ve just done some scouting, and your Spiritual Energy has only recovered about one third, and according to my observations, the power of your Spiritual Energy cannon is cumulative. The initial output of Spiritual Energy isn’t very high, roughly doubling every two seconds, you need to sustain it for at least ten seconds to inflict damage on the King Ant."

"So, without full Spiritual Energy, it’s best not to use that move. If it’s not time, you’ll just waste Spiritual Energy."
