Chapter 501: Chapter 319 Ancient God Fragment
The white light descended, and the world was restored to its original state.
In the dense black fog, red figures were everywhere, and the light of the Lighthouse had become quite weak, which was when the Red Tear Stones on everyone started to play their role.
Everyone stood still in place.
No one could believe that nine Strong Monsters had turned to ashes in a mere twelve seconds.
That white light that streaked across the sky, like a miraculous godsend, had saved them all.
It was only seconds later that the calm voice of Lannister, the freeloader, was heard.
"Cilly, fire the second signal flare to indicate the danger has passed and prevent duplication of support,"
Cilly, chastened by the words of Lannister, snarled, "Shut up, you big liar! I don’t need you to tell me, I know!"
She pulled out a small ball and injected it with Spiritual Energy.
With a pop, the ball flew into the sky, exploding in a shower of myriad colors.
The special light once again pierced through the black fog, illuminating the ground below.
It was only under this strange light that everyone could clearly see the nine large heaps of ash on the ground.
The terrifying Demonized King Ants were truly dead.
For a time, long sighs of relief could be heard everywhere, and many people sat down on the ground, their spirits still unsettled, only now beginning to relax a little.
Lannister and Cilly, meanwhile, rushed to Rod’s side.
"Ah... you’re awake."
Disappointment was thick in Cilly’s voice.
"Having used such a powerful Spiritual Energy cannon, your Spiritual Energy should be exhausted, and your soul should have entered a state of self-protection shock."
Lannister pushed his glasses up and said in an emotionless voice, "Rod’s soul is very resilient, all his values are perfectly balanced, he has high endurance, and even if his Spiritual Energy is depleted, he won’t go into shock."
"I don’t need you to tell me!"
Cilly glared at him.
"I know everything about Rod, including how many scandalous mistresses he has."
Rod felt a series of pangs in his spirit, and the sense of depletion in his soul made him very uncomfortable. He felt that he desperately needed to rest in a comfortable environment for the night, and yet these two were still arguing over these irrelevant matters.
"Hey, can you guys help me up first?"
Cilly was about to move, but then a Gale suddenly arose from beneath Rod, lifting him off the ground.
"Nice," Rod praised, "The wind is comfortable."
Cilly looked at him dissatisfied.
Lannister, unfazed, said flatly, "We’ll head back to the Lighthouse first. The crisis is not over yet. Cilly, you quickly organize the wounded. Some people are severely injured and in urgent need of treatment. The Demonized King Ant’s Spiritual Energy is strong, their psychic impact will damage the soul, and those who have sustained soul aftereffects need to be quickly sent back to the Royal City for treatment."
Cilly said resentfully, "I know! You’re the one who talks too much!"
She turned and ran off quickly.
Lannister then took Rod back to the Lighthouse and laid him on a soft bed in the Medical room.
No sooner had Rod lain down than he fell into a deep slumber.
Lannister called the medical staff of the tower.
After a thorough examination, they were surprised to find that Rod was unharmed, and not a single sign of corruption could be seen in his soul.
"Your Excellency Lannister, he is just asleep due to exhaustion,"
the medical staff said politely.
"His soul is completely healthy, as pure as crystal."
Lannister furrowed his brows.
"Impossible. He has just killed nine Demonized King Ants. The Quantization of the Black Fog must have eroded his soul. Check again, carefully, and don’t overlook any suspicious signs."
The medical staff looked at each other with confusion, seeing doubt in each other’s eyes.
They were all seasoned medical practitioners, whose specialty was the professional "Bright Light," not as skilled as central medical practitioners but still counted as elite logistical personnel.
Such an examination couldn’t possibly be mistaken.
But since Lannister was a member of the Hall, following the principles of the battlefield, he currently held the highest command at the Lighthouse, and his orders were indisputable.
Hastily the medical staff went back to fetch their specialized equipment.
The True Silver Detector, Spiritual Crystal lenses, high-energy Ruby waveform detectors... countless top-notch Spiritual Power Instruments were applied all over Rod’s body, thoroughly scouring every corner of his life and soul.
Yet among all the feedback, there still wasn’t any abnormal waveform indicating the erosion of Black Fog. All instruments showed his life and soul to be in perfect harmony.
"What’s going on?"
As medical personnel who had ignited their Soul Fire, they were knowledgeable and understood that after killing monsters, the condensed Black Fog would lose the support of the Position structure and collapse, ultimately returning to the Void.
This process was called "Quantization."
The inevitable repercussion of causing the Black Fog to "Quantize" would be a backlash from the Black Fog, differing only in magnitude.
The stronger the monster killed, the stronger the backlash received.
If what he said was true, then nine Strong Monsters couldn’t have left no trace at all.
"His Soul Resistance is incredibly high,"
Lannister surmised.
"Strong enough to withstand the backlash of nine Strong Monsters."
One of the medical personnel suddenly realized, "Is this Lord Rod?"
Lannister looked at him warily, "How do you know?"
"I apologize,"
the medical staff said cautiously, "I’ve heard that Lord Rod has a very strong self-Purification ability, which comes from his Fire Spark, the Black Bucket. Ordinary contamination and corruption won’t harm him."
