The Last King Of Darkness -
Chapter 469 - 303 The Beginning of Hope
Chapter 469: Chapter 303 The Beginning of Hope
Tesrivian Calendar 1325.
The first day of the eleventh month.
In the Dark World, the only known surviving human realm of Trolian.
Its spiritual and real leader, the King, issued an order of total war.
Countless warriors surged across the western defensive line into the Dark World, and more logistics personnel transported war supplies to the frontline. An innumerable number of convoys from various towns and strongholds in the Kingdom converged on the Royal City, forming a dragon of dim lights that sprawled across the land.
Within and beyond the Kingdom, Starfires were everywhere.
All organizational structures operated at full capacity, and all workshops and mines worked overtime.
The war machine of the Kingdom roared to life.
As Rod walked on the street, he saw such a busy scene unfold before him.
His heart was boiling with eagerness as he hurried to the Supreme Council.
As the gathering place of the Elders, there was for the first time no Elder to be seen in the Fire Hall.
They had agreed to no longer interfere with war decisions but to involve themselves in specific affairs, even fighting on the frontline themselves.
Their souls and bodies were declining, but their spirits had not extinguished. The First Elder Amendo personally led the charge, and those who were reluctant were relieved of their Elder duties.
Of course, after the purification of the Royal City, there were not many such people left.
When Rod entered the hall, the King was discussing the situation of the war with Archbishop Horus, Defense Chief Dalin, and others.
Around them were Commanders of various legions, defense chiefs, and commanders.
In the middle, there was a large Spiritual Energy imaging instrument, significantly scaled down, showing the general force distribution within a radius of two thousand miles centered on the Royal City.
Different from the past, the board lit up with many small points of light on the dark background today.
"...Within a month, we must push the frontline to Star Town and Star City, bringing these outlying points within the Kingdom’s domain," the King declared, tapping on the two larger points of light on the western side.
They represented Star Town and Star City, respectively seven hundred miles and five hundred miles from the Royal City.
"All the areas in between must be cleared, undergo Purification, and new settlements must be established in suitable places to further alleviate our existential pressure," the King commanded.
The two remaining Chief Governors immediately showed relief.
The example of Star Town had shown them the immense benefits of relieving population pressure, and though this region was very barren, as long as one-tenth of it was habitable, it would greatly ease the enormous survival pressure on Trolian.
But the faces of the legion commanders were bitter; one month was profoundly short.
Though Star Town and Star City stood in front, sparing the need to worry about stirring the Black Fog and causing upheaval within the Dark World.
However, unlike the development of Star Town and Star City, this area was simply too vast, totaling over thirty million square miles, and it was very hard to complete the clearing and purification within a month.
City Defense Legion Commander Cross said, "Your Majesty, one month is too short. If we had three months..."
The King shook his head slightly.
"It must be one month. The White Tower just informed me that the next Sun Day is in a month. We must seize this opportunity to clear Old Abyss, Horror Castle, and the Trident River to prepare for our next target, taking Storm Pass."
Legion Commander Liszt turned and asked, "How many days is this month expected to last?"
A white-robed Prophet answered, "Lady Meredith predicts twenty-three sunsets for the eleventh month."
The brows of several legion commanders all furrowed.
Twenty-three days were a short month, making their already tight schedule even more pressing.
Conquest Legion Commander Lothar stared at the Fog Disk for a while, then hesitantly asked, "Your Majesty, why choose to take Storm Pass? I remember from Liszt’s report that there aren’t many resources along that route, but very many dangerous areas of darkness, and Storm Pass is a major pass in the Dead Ash Mountain Range, connecting directly to the Dark Great Plain in the north along Storm Canyon."
Cross continued, "The threats there are too powerful, and the defense pressures at Storm Pass will be very great."
The King calmly said, "It relates to our next phase of combat."
Lothar understood and bowed his head, "I understand, Your Majesty. I will order the Conquerors to eradicate the monsters fully."
Cross, "I will ensure that the Defenders secure every stronghold, creating a strong support for our warriors on the frontline."
Liszt, "The Investigation Legion will guarantee absolute transparency on the battlefield, not letting the unknown darkness devour any warrior."
The King showed a smile.
His happiest moments were when everyone united and worked together.
No victory was greater than the feeling of them standing hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder.
From the moment he became the King Candidate, he had always believed this.
As long as everyone was seamless and united, humanity would never perish.
Ever since ascending to the throne of the Fire King, he had been implementing this philosophy, but unfortunately, facts had proven that uniting everyone was impossible. When stagnation besieged Trolian, disagreements emerged swiftly. Without a strong figure to suppress them, the Royal City had fallen so far back in just a few years.
The King glanced at Rod, who was quietly listening to their discussion at the outermost edge of the crowd.
If not for him, the Royal City would not have recovered so quickly.
The significance of cleaning the dregs and the degenerates even surpassed the development of Star Town.
Hmm... Qingyu was too gentle, not quite fit for the next stage of Trolian’s development.
