Chapter 459: Chapter 298 Virtue_2
The moment he saw them, Rod truly understood why Royal City was as it is, a fusion of the advanced and the backward, a resonance of the conservative and the open, coexistence of the wise and the foolish.
This was an era of great transformation, and they were standing at the crossroads of destiny.
Although no one here realized it.
But Rod knew.
If they took one more step forward, they would enter the best of times as well as the worst of times.
But if they encountered unimaginable disasters, they would also take a step backward, returning to that closed and dark era.
He hoped everything would go smoothly.
He thought.
When Rod appeared, it caused a sensation, not because of any heroic deeds he had done—if there were any, they were minor.
It was because of the book he authored, "Rod’s Electricity."
It profoundly and systematically expounded on the use of electricity, connecting scattered points of knowledge, enlightening everyone with sudden realization and bursting inspirations, and arousing extreme interest in the later parts of this system.
They immediately swarmed around him, with clamorous voices rising and falling.
"Master Rod, did you plagiarize your electricity?"
"Is it truly an ancient relic from Star Town?"
"Did you shamelessly add your name to it without considering the needs of morality and character?"
"Master Rod, if you are willing to show me the later parts first, I am willing to vindicate you!"
"I am willing too!"
"I not only vindicate, I’ll acknowledge you as my dad from now on!"
"I acknowledge you as a grandfather!"
"I acknowledge you as an ancestor!"
...
Amidst the noise, the blonde big sister Mina impatiently pushed aside these shameless folks, pulling Rod into the main conference room.
In the main conference room, including Amides, six great scholars were sitting at a large round table, waiting for him.
This was indeed a rare honor.
As great scholars, the highest academic titles in Trolian, there were only fifteen in the world, and only eight of them were actively involved year-round, each overseeing hundreds of research directions with numerous students, incredibly busy.
It was extremely rare for six great scholars to give up their busy work and the pursuit of truth to wait for someone.
Amides stood up first, warmly introducing, "This is the young prodigy who authored ’Rod’s Electricity,’ he is quite wise, and his understanding of truth far surpasses that of ordinary combatants."
This was a very high compliment.
Usually, in scholars’ eyes, combatants were considered a group of physically robust, spirit-energy-filled louts who didn’t understand truth or the power of knowledge.
Most of them believed that, should his path succeed, he would create weapons capable of devastatingly destructive power, capable of eradicating the dark source of the world and restoring light to the universe.
Conversely, the more knowledgeable great scholars were calmer, having a clear awareness of themselves and the current situation.
Great scholar Oberon lifted his glasses, kindly saying, "Mr. Rod, I have already read your work. Personally, I don’t think it is an ancient relic from Star Town. We haven’t found anything related to it among the relics excavated from Star Town, nor is there a special utilization of or affection for electricity in their culture."
He paused before continuing.
"Moreover, I see a significant trace of teaching in your writing, a book born for readers to clearly grasp the knowledge, which is not logical. I can only presume that you, having grasped higher levels of knowledge, specifically wrote it for us."
The great scholars present slightly nodded, indicating they had the same speculation.
The scholars standing around in a circle showed faces of shock and disbelief.
On the side, Mina slapped Rod’s backside vigorously, "Good for you, I knew you had the material to pursue truth! You’ve grasped such profound knowledge without even realizing it."
Rod slapped her hand away, "Stop slapping."
"What’s wrong with a slap, it’s not like it costs you any flesh."
"Shall I give you a slap to see?"
"Come on."
Rod ignored her, he just wanted to clarify the misunderstanding, his morals did not allow him to accept honors that didn’t belong to him.
"That’s right."
Rod replied.
"It is the knowledge I have painstakingly comprehended over decades. Personally, I believe that the value of knowledge lies in being mastered by more people. The standard is simplicity. Knowledge written in an obscure way, which others can hardly understand, often means the author does not understand it well either."
After a few seconds of silence, Rod’s impressive speech won a burst of applause, and the great scholars all clapped for Rod.
Amides praised, "You are the most virtuous seeker of truth I have ever seen. We all should learn from you."
Rod accepted the honor that belonged to him without batting an eye, and on the spot, he expressed his willingness to write down all the knowledge he had mastered in the simplest way possible for everyone’s learning.
He hoped that everyone could go further, expand upon the existing base, and find from it the means to truly save humanity, save the world, and restore light to the universe.
In the large conference room, thunderous applause rang out, with many scholars moved to tears, both in awe of Rod’s greatness and ashamed of their own pettiness and selfish desires, as many were not willing to share their knowledge without compensation.
The great scholar Amides even proposed a slogan, suggesting that it be adopted as the motto of the Jinworth Academy, to be passed down through the generations.
This proposal was unanimously agreed upon, and the great scholar Ward wrote it down on a piece of paper in black and white on the spot, and after framing it, hung it on the wall.
"Learn from Mr. Rod."
Rod pretended to be embarrassed, but actually, he was thrilled.
After this, Jinworth Academy would be filled with his name everywhere!
The main purpose of their meeting had been fulfilled with Rod’s promise, so the original topics for discussion were no longer necessary–they just needed to wait for Rod’s new book to be published.
The great scholars then took the initiative to introduce him to the current cutting-edge research results, as a way of returning the favor.
The great scholar Ward excelled at creating golems and Mechanical Bodies, these cold war machines were extremely powerful and fearless of pain and pollution. His latest creation, a giant golem, was said to have combat abilities surpassing average non-human combatants.
The only drawback was that it was expensive.
Even the weakest one required heaps of Black Iron, True Silver, and Spiritual Energy Crystals.
He was very grateful to Rod; if not for the mines in Star Town, his resources would not be as plentiful.
The Mechanical Body workshop could operate at full capacity, and his contribution was indispensable.
Rod thought about it and took out his Wood Puppet and Flesh Puppet to give to the great scholar Ward as a reference.
Ward’s eyes brightened upon seeing the two puppets, and he meticulously examined their bodies, marveling at them.
In Ward’s view, although the puppets were not strong, they had a unique design and a high cost-performance ratio.
His student was puzzled and asked, "Teacher, these must be creations with Unique Characteristics. They utilize characteristics to produce these puppets, which can’t be copied by conventional means, so they have no reference value."
But Ward shook his head, "No, it’s not just that. These aren’t impenetrable black box creations. They seem replicable, like some sort of stronger, higher-level, more mature technology product. I need to study this thoroughly."
The great scholar Ward, holding the puppets, ran off on the spot.
Everyone else was not surprised; inspiration was most important to them.
Afterwards, they introduced their own research results as well, each one striving to outdo the others in innovation and variety. Rod couldn’t help but admire their remarkable creativity.
However, Rod also noticed something: no matter the project, it seemed to have some links with antiquity.
The significance of history here was beyond imagination.
The great scholar Amides explained, "The achievements of ancient times are far more splendid than we can imagine. The relics we have unearthed not only are powerful and mysterious, but their level of advancement often far exceeds our own."
"Exactly," said the great scholar Oberon, "the soul-stabilizing crystals at the Mechanical Research Institute, the Spiritual Energy panels, the instruments for testing Soul Traits and Fire Sparks, the Crystal Ball that displays names of Soul Traits based on soul waves, and the crystal fireworks panel for testing levels of Soul Traits, are all products obtained from ancient ruins. How they work remains unsolved."
"We have obtained more relics and artifacts from ruins and ruins than you can imagine. They are not just powerful weapons; many ordinary objects from life also come from these."
Intrigued, Rod couldn’t help but ask, "What exactly was our past like? Why has it become like this?"
Upon hearing this question, the great scholars all showed solemn expressions.
