The Last King Of Darkness -

Chapter 441: Chapter 292: Hero Arrives_2
Before he set off, he was still a very weak combatant.
But now, he was almost ready to step into the ranks of Third Level Combatants.
The floating carriage passed over the high walls of Los effortlessly, where the houses below were densely packed together, extending all the way to the horizon.
At the edge of his view stood the towering Dead Ash Mountain Range.
The Upper City rested on the mountainside of the Dead Ash Mountain Range.
The enormous Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground was clearly visible, with the sky-piercing golden Holy Fire illuminating the entire city and a tremendously large white tree towering on the west side of the Upper City.
That was the corporeal form of the Royal City’s Holy White Tree.
It was known as the Tree of Life, and its roots could purify the land and water; its trunk could nurture life; the life breath it emitted could promote the growth of plants; and its branches could develop new, small Holy White Trees.
All Holy White Trees in Trolian were its offshoots.
The reason humanity could evolve to this extent in such a dark environment was indissociable from the existence of the Holy White Tree.
Above the Holy White Tree, beyond the radiance, was rolling Black Fog.
It pressed tightly against the edge of the light, like siege clouds, and the fog surged as if black dragons were tumbling within.
If the Holy Fire were to be extinguished, it would undoubtedly be a catastrophic disaster.
Rod forced himself not to think in that direction and focused his attention on the scenery.
The aftermath of the good weather had not yet faded, making the Royal City so bright and the visibility so clear today that there rarely was such an opportunity to overlook the entire panorama of the Royal City.
The floating carriage swiftly crossed the Outer City and Inner City Districts, passing through the residential area of the Upper City and landing in front of the Royal Palace.
Led by the Envoy, Rod met with the King once again.
The last time he saw him was before his departure.
The King had informed him of most details concerning the Holy Fire plan, and only then did Rod learn that the Holy Fire was on the verge of collapse, and there were two ways to solve this crisis.
One, to obtain another Holy Fire Seed.
Two, to reduce the strength of the Holy Fire by sacrificing tens of millions of civilian lives.
The King knew that Amendo and the Elder Council would inevitably choose the more reliable second option, so they chose to conceal the real plan, presenting the Holy Fire plan in another way.
However, further expansion was out of line with Trolian’s current situation, and both Amendo and the Elder Council tended to be conservative and didn’t agree.
Yet, due to the King’s prestige, they chose to use the expedition to Star Town as a pilot to test whether the expansion could bring more benefits to Trolian.
The leader of the expedition was not originally Rod, but Theodore recommended him in his last soul transmission, enabling Rod to become the person who could decide Trolian’s future trajectory.
As it turned out, Rod did not disappoint Theodore’s trust and everyone’s expectations.
Despite the Elder Council continuously cutting down the expedition’s combat strength to place obstacles in their way,
and despite the opposition maliciously sabotaging and even attacking Rod for their own interests,
he still achieved a resounding victory with indisputable strength.
The miracle of Star Town exceeded everyone’s imagination, with benefits that no one could have anticipated.
Even the stubborn elders had to acknowledge Rod’s merits under the dual pressures of benefit and reality, and awarded him the Trolian Hero Medal.
The King had never been filled with such a smile; this was the happiest he had been in many years.
"Rod, I’m sorry I couldn’t secure you the title of Human Hero. The Elder Council insists that you only made a significant contribution, not saving humanity, so they refused to give you the highest honor, but don’t worry. Once we take down Tasnia Starry City and reveal the Holy Fire plan, this medal will make up for it," said the King.
Rod scratched his head, not quite understanding the difference between a Trolian Hero and a Human Hero, and asked, "King, are we about to execute the Holy Fire plan now?"
The King shook his head, "Not so fast. You must understand that Trolian is like a giant ship that needs time to turn, and what we will face is not just a powerful monster, but a Fire King City like ours, which fell 1500 years ago during the glorious Fire Epoch of the prosperous Starry Kingdom."
Archbishop Horus continued, "The former Starry Kingdom was far stronger than us, and from the various relics found, we know that at its peak, the Starry Kingdom had more than two million Fire Holders, whereas we have only just over four hundred thousand."
"Star Envoys, our First Level Combatants, exceeded a thousand people, while we barely have a hundred."
"Starry Avatars, our Special Level Combatants, are of an unknown quantity but certainly far more than ours."
"And what we plan to attack is the Royal City of such a powerful kingdom. Although it has long been ruined, numerous corrupted former human warriors still wander in that city, and the monster in the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground that devoured the Holy Fire Seed is unimaginable."
"We need to be fully prepared to battle such a formidable opponent," said Horus.
Rod felt a chill in his heart, as the Fire Guardian he encountered in Star Town was the most perilous battle he had faced, and that Fire Guardian had merely devoured a seed of the Guardian Fire.
The monster in the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground had devoured a Holy Fire Seed and, having such a powerful source, had metamorphosed over 1500 years into something unfathomably formidable.
