Chapter 421: Chapter 283 The Show Begins_2
He had been in the Dream Realm for a long time, where the firelight became soft and tranquil, and the breath of the night hit him head-on.
Rod stepped out of the hall, and Star Town was very peaceful at night, with only the Guardians patrolling the streets and rooftops.
Seeing Rod, they all bowed to him in greeting.
"Good night, Lord Defender!"
Rod held several positions, and the Defender was indeed their ultimate superior.
"Good night, Guardians. Please continue with your duties, I’m just taking a stroll."
"Yes, Lord Defender."
Rod wasn’t just taking a stroll, he immediately headed to the Mechanical Research Institute’s Star Town outpost.
As soon as he left the Dream Realm, he felt a sense of discomfort in his soul, his Spiritual Energy Strength had far surpassed his Spirit, more so than any time before, and he had to undergo the ritual to advance his Spiritual Energy right away.
And his personal upgrade assistant, Mina, happened to live here.
The outpost had a simple exterior, but the widespread use of Spiritual Crystals in the equipment gave it a high-end look.
The lights were still bright inside the institute at late night, and the guards on duty saluted Rod as they saw him walking in without even being announced.
The institute’s interior was a vast hall, filled with Relics collected from Star Town.
A few hundred Researchers were busy at various workstations appraising these Relics.
The whole scene resembled a dump with garbage workers sorting through the trash, and the sound of fierce arguments filled the air.
"Look at this round inner wall, unique shape, full of artistic decor, it’s definitely a high-end container for holding Spiritual Energy liquid, as long as we fix it..."
"Idiot, that’s a chamber pot!"
"Look what I found! A Golden Spear! It must be the legendary Eternal Death Spear that can pierce any being..."
"Fool, that’s brass on the outside, and those brown spots are calcified feces. That’s a stick for poking toilets!"
"You talk nonsense, this is clearly the trophy it claimed after slaying the legendary King of Feces! Don’t you know anything?"
Suddenly, someone laughed wildly.
"Hahahaha, I’ve discovered a Divine Artifact that can save the world! I am the Savior!"
He held up a brown coil, showing it off to everyone while gripping it tightly.
"It’s definitely the heart of the Thunder God! As long as I have it, I can wield the Thunder God’s power and lead everyone out of darkness!"
This time there were no strong objections; instead, everyone gathered around, discussing its possible uses.
Even nobody seemed to notice Rod standing at the entrance.
Rod glanced twice and noticed that the object was devoid of Spirituality and looked somewhat like an electrical coil.
He didn’t pay much attention to it and headed straight to the room at the back of the hall.
Mina was a senior Researcher with her own studio.
Rod pushed open the door, and sure enough, Mina wasn’t sleeping. The blond and broad-chested older sister was talking to an old man.
When she saw Rod enter, her face lit up with surprise, but it quickly turned to annoyance.
"Well if it isn’t our great hero? The brightest new star of 1325 and the future Special Level Combatant. What brings you to visit such a lowly place like mine?"
Rod said with a smile, "Sister Mina, you are as charming as ever and haven’t changed a bit from my memory. Even though I’ve been in the thick of battle and busy with work, my mind is still filled with your image."
Mina’s entire face turned red, and she slammed the desk, bellowing at him.
"What exactly are you here for?"
Rod became serious and said, "Quickly prepare the ritual for advancing my Spiritual Energy. My energy is too strong, and my soul is very uncomfortable."
Mina looked at him skeptically, placing her slender hand on his chest. Suddenly, she shivered violently as if shocked by electricity.
Her expression turned to one of astonishment.
"Such strong Spiritual Energy... this level of leakage, at least over two hundred ’kè.’ My God, you are only at the Fifth Level of Spiritual Energy, how can you have such high Strength?"
Rod looked slightly upwards at a 45-degree angle and said nonchalantly, "I’m not sure myself, perhaps that’s just the struggle of a genius."
Mina clearly didn’t understand the concept of a ’nonchalant boast,’ as she was utterly taken aback and immediately said, "Teacher, we must quickly prepare the advanced ritual for Spiritual Energy ascension."
The elder behind the desk nodded slightly.
"No problem, but we need three Sun Crystals."
Rod immediately smiled.
"I have some. Just go to the treasury and use my badge to get them."
The old man smiled and said, "It seems the rumors are indeed true; some rights to the Sun Crystal Vein are in your hands."
Mina added, "Rod, this is Teacher Amides I’ve always told you about, one of the seven great scholars of the Royal City."
Rod bowed slightly.
"Teacher Amides, a pleasure to meet you."
The old man smiled back and said, "Hello, young hero, I’ve heard much about you. Let’s save the chit-chat for later. Excessive Spiritual Energy harms the Soul not properly structured every second. Mina, take him to the Spiritual Power Laboratory, I’ll prepare the ritual."
"Okay."
The two of them immediately sprang into action.
Soon, Rod was lying on the Stone Platform of the Spiritual Power Laboratory, in his briefs and in a spread-eagle position.
Surrounding him were glittering Spiritual Crystals, as the powerful energy flowed through the Crystal Array, forming distinctive patterns.
Mina was busy with a sense of urgency, while Amides appeared much more relaxed.
